Having moved to the Midwest from New York City, I was quite impressed by the level of seafood they prepare here. They really know how fish should be cooked.

Have not been to Jay's in a while and decided to go there tonight. I sat at the bar. As always, the food was great and my server (Bob) was excellent and paid attention to every detail! The atmosphere and service reminded of the excellence Jay himself provided back then. My evening culminated in discovering a $68 parking ticket fine on my windshield.since I had not been to Jay in a few years, the courtesy or welcome lady (Jeannie) proceeded to take the ticket from me and says she will handle it! Amy, thanks for continuing Jay's tradition of providing great food, excellent service and great staff!

Reservation for 3 on a Thursday evening. PROMPTLY seated. Our waitress (and I really wish I could remember her name) was amazing. Great service, fantastic attitude.loved her! The wine was wonderful, the crab stuff lobster was fantastic. We each had different sides and all were great - roasted red potatoes, sweet potato mash (?), and the green beans with red peppers. Haven't been to Jays in a REALLY long time but won't hesitate to go back again. Just wish I could have had room to eat some dessert.

Service was great but the two entrees we had were not. Expected better considering how much it cost.

This restaurant is NOT allergy friendly, and quality has gone downhill. Multiple people in the party had issues with their food being poorly cooked. The seafood was overdone, and the baked potatoes were underdone. Service was very slow. They have a “house seasoning” that they use on almost every item. However, the “house seasoning” is not made at the restaurant, and they have no idea what ingredients are in it. Therefore, they advised the person with the food allergy to order grilled fish with no seasoning and vegetables with no seasoning. It would be ridiculous to pay $40 for a dish with no seasoning. This place used to be a family favorite, but we will not be back.

This is my favorite seafood restaurant in Dayton. A cut above in every way - the quality of taste, presentation and service are worthy of the prices.

Everything I've had here has been delicious (I love the cedar planked salmon and spicy bourbon salmon, as well as their fisherman's platter). Their sides have always been solid and also very filling (so save room for dessert or order it to go).

Reservations for larger parties (more than 4) is highly recommended, but I suggest 1-3 people try going straight to the bar (it's still cozy enough to feel intimate and food still cames out reasonably fast).

It was verrry close to capacity and still everything went well. Although they serve all kinds of drinks, you may need to clarify exactly how you like certain drinks made if they're not very common outside of cocktail bars.

Found a great sit down, fine dining for fish in Dayton.
We had Walleye and Tuna, cooked to perfection with wonderful sides.
Happy to have left room to share the Smore's Ceesecake. WOW
Service excellent and atmoshpere were calm and casual. (not stuffy, lol)
We will definately return

Gorgeous building, cool history, and the food, for the most part was outstanding. My only complaint was the "Maryland Style" crab cake. I'm born and raised in Baltimore and that is NOT anything like a Maryland crab cake. It should be jumbo lump with very little filler but it was not even remotely like that. The remoulade was absolutely delicious however. I also got two cesar salads. I'm quite confident that this was the best cesar salad I've ever had in my life. I could write an entire review on how amazing it was. My main entree was the parmesean crusted halibut which was very flaky and delicious. Our server, Calista I believe her name was, was probably a top 10 server of all time for me. She was absolutely stellar.

Loved it. I've been waiting quite a while to eat here, and I'm not disappointed.

The salmon en croute is my dine-out favorite meal in Dayton! So delicious. Only one note- the calamari is way too thick and chicken-finger like for my taste but I love everything else about this restaurant.

Probably one of the best steak and lobster tails I have ever eaten and I travel many places. Definitely recommend if you are within a 50 mile radius it would be worth the drive.

Restaurant week. Caesar salad, nice extra touch of lemon in dressing. Blackened salmon with horseradish mashed. My wife had a tender and moist filet, medium, perfect.
Flourless chocolate torte and Bourbon pecan pie, warmed. Great bar with chilled glasses for IPA. Wine by the glass and fantastic service.
Try the Scallop appetizer. In mushroom wine sauce. Soak up extra sauce with bread.
