John Bryan State Park Campground reviews
11Nasty old man who works in the camp office would not sell tent stakes to us 10 minutes after ‘closing’ as he was standing in the office doing nothing, no hospitality whatsoever
We enjoyed our stay at John Bryan State Park Campground. The campground is relatively open however the perimeter sites offer some privacy. The grounds were well maintained and offer a newer restroom and shower facility, Pump station, picnic shelter and some additional vault restrooms throughout. The staff at the camp office / store was very friendly and helpfull. Their are several trailheads that are accessible from the campgrounds as well. Our site was level, paved and included a fire ring picnic table and electric hook up.
This is a nice campground for pretty much anyone. Disc golf on site, playground for the kids it has quite a bit to offer.
The shower house was nice as well.
Nice park. Friendly staff. Took a star off though because the way they mark which site is where. Seems it would go from the marker for your site to the next sites marker, but they have it backwards. Makes no sense. Why backwards? They’ve also removed a ton of trees, so shade is harder to come by than it should be. Not all campers are in an air-conditioned RV… if you’re in a tent, you wake up as soon as the sun hits the tent. Today, it was nearly 100° in my tent, and that’s absurd. Still, Yellow Springs is near as well as a lot of hiking trails in this area, so it all works out - IF you don’t mind hiking all day in the heat. I can’t do that everyday, so I’ve ended up hanging out in my vehicle just waiting for the sun to go down, or behind a cloud, else it’s just too damn hot!
Very nice little campground. This park is not super crowded like others making it a great relaxing location. There is no “check-in” station so many cars seem to just travel through. Otherwise, nice spot.
I have camped here many times. It's always enjoyable. The mountain bike trail is perfect.
This is one of the strangest and disappointing places we have ever camped. The office wasn;t open-no one to check us in or ensure our spot was reserved. The campground itsself is very small. Our site was good.maybe too good. People seemed to be eyeballing it. We pulled out at 10am to dump our trash, waste, and 5 minutes later two people were in our campsite. Good thing we weren't going back. The sites seemed to be a free-for-all and we weren't sure how many people there actually reserved their spot. One man was sleeping in a car, others were ctent amping in places that we were told were closed for some type of renovation.
On our first reserved day after getting settled in, we left for 2 hours into town. When we came back and all our campfire wood was stolen! (Don't assuume your items will be there when you get back if your camper is gone just because you reserved the space). Pack it all up!
For the positives. The park was very clean, the story book trail was super terrific, and hiking to the bridge was nice. The left over Halloween decor made the bike paths more fun. Nonetheless, this isn;t a place we would ever go to again.
Went for a weekend get away and had worse time, so many dogs were there, felt more like being at a dog park. Dogs were barking at every sound that night and first thing in the morning it was not a peaceful time I will definitely be looking for a new campground to go to it was a huge disappointment
Campground is clean, but is for-the-most-part an open space with loosely-defined campsites. No privacy or separation. The state park itself, however, is amazing - terrific geography with amazing hiking trails along the river.
Nice campground area. On website say office open with hours and arrive they posted different hours. Huh? But still beautiful area to enjoying the state park
