We asked Joe Kelley to do an inspection of the building we were interested in purchasing. I've hired several home inspectors over the years and I was prepared for the same type of inspector who was in and out of the home and just went through the normal motions. Joe was different. He was very thorough. He spent time looking at areas and systems that my previous inspectors didn't. He also took the time to explain to me what he was doing and explain any findings he had. He had the latest tools and instruments, and he was very versed on the latest building codes.
I am an electrical engineer who also teaches electrical code class to electricians, and it was very refreshing to meet a home inspector who was knowledgeable with electrical codes and installations, as well as roofing, foundations, HVAC, insulation systems, pest and rodent problems, building envelope (windows, doors, etc.), fire protection/detection, radon detection and others.
When the inspection was complete, I felt that I have a complete and thorough understanding of the property we intend to purchase.
