Krakus Polish Deli & Bakery reviews
8 Krakus takes me back to the days of my Polish Gma cooking. The smell upon entering to the perfect pierogi.
Cabbage rolls and kielbasa are delicious.
They have different types of pierogies, a small deli, kolachi cookies which were excellent.
If youre looking to try Polish or already a fan, it's nice to know you can get great food in Bman.
I loved this place and was treated very well here. I showed up on 11/11/2023 just as they were closing, but they cooked a dozen pierogi for me anyway. They were terrific, and the kolache was spectacular (the best I've ever had).
I don't get it. All these 5 star reviews.
I know authentic Polish/Hungarian food and this isn't it. It gives the "semblance" of Polish, yes. This meal was totally bland, flavorless and nowhere near as hardy portion wise as most Polish restaurants I know, even a couple in Akron/Canton. If it helps, I am a TRUE lover of ethnic (non American) food, or at least what's left of here in the US.
The interior cabbage roll texture was that of boarding on mushy, no real texture difference between the rice and and what I assume was some type of protein, beef or pork. Who knows? I COULDN'T tell.
I DO have to admit the tomatoes based sauce was tasty just on its own. That and the pierogies had a GREAT texture that was reminiscent of home. I have to admit that. Most attempts at Polish pierogies here in the Youngstown area are WAY too thin, gummy and ravioli like. YECH!
Want REAL Authentic Polish food? Go to Detroit (Hamtramck actually) and hit up the Polish Village Cafe. Full flavors presented the way they should be and hearty portions! It is WELL WORTH the 4 hour drive.
This stuff here is just boarding on acceptable to me, no offense meant to Krakus. I would LOVE to bring you back a plate from Michigan so you may know what I speak of.
I've had a babushka wearing granny make my meals (years ago, of course), smiling at me with love and happy as HELL to cook for friends and family, all by hand. You don't forget "baba" like that and it ain't easy to find.but every now and then.
By the way, I am NOWHERE NEAR being Polish.
Got the polish platter and everything was amazing! Also heard the owner and customer speaking polish (I assume) and that really made it feel authentic and a great atmosphere
If you love all kinds of polish food this is the place to go. They have a little something for everyone. Incredible selection and even more amazing staff. Always extremely friendly and more then willing to help you find what your looking for.
Went today for the first time and amazing place. Things you have to try include the peirogi obviously but the bigos, kielbasa, and haluski were awesome as well. The absolute hit of the night though were the Chrust cookies (covered in powdered sugar and so light) and the amazing mushroom barley soup (zupey). Again an amazing place and I will be back every time we visit the in-laws up in that region. Well done and thanks.
Fantastic! Best Perogi I have had in years! Kolache cookies were amazing as well. I wish I would have tried the kolbasi too.
Awesome place to get traditional polish deli and bakery foods. Love this place. You should try it out.
