Laketran - Lake County Regional Public Transportation reviews
5First time rider. Driver on #2 line/route this past Saturday during the 10am hour was helpful, courteous, patient and provided a comfortable ride.
On Dec 19,2023 approx 1: 40pm, I was driving down Kirtland Chardon rd, and Laketran bus #2311, just about ran into me from the back, he then passed me on the left on a no passing road. The speed limit is 35. I was doing 38 he flew past me. He had to be doing 50. I did leave a message on Lake Tran voicemail because no one picked up.
Only use them if you have to. Customer service and nearly everyone else at this company is rude complete @$$
They are always polite and helpful when scheduling a ride. And the drivers are great.
I have been wanting to say something about this for a long time. I have never had to use Laketran, so certain specific issues would be unfamiliar to me. My complaint is the unsafe manner of driving by Laketran operators. I have observed several instances of illegal turns by Laketran vehicles. It is always the same scenario. The Laketran vehicle is in a turn lane to go left. They will fail to yield to the traffic going through the intersection. Or, if the other vehicle is making a right turn, the Laketran vehicle will begin its left turn at the same time, again leaving an insufficient distance between themselves and the other person. Finally, if there is not even a partial opening in traffic and the light turns red, the Laketran driver will make an illegal left turn on that red.
This is not safe behavior! It is breaking the law to save a few seconds or one minute. It is putting riders in danger as well as the general public. And most importantly, it is only a matter of time before disaster strikes. A common way is for the vehicle making the left turn on a red light to be struck by someone running the red light. Another possibility is that the Laketran vehicle turning in violation of a red signal would be hit by a car that has a newly changed green light.
There are laws that require a turning driver to yield the right of way to oncoming traffic. My observation is that the Laketran drivers are not doing this. It is only a matter of time before an accident is caused by this unsafe and illegal behavior. It is not worth the few seconds saved. The risk is high but the benefits low. Please rethink this bad habit.
