Leffler's Antiques is tightly stocked wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling with unique antiques and collectibles. Leffler's sells fine works of art, jewelry, furniture, leaded stained glass, and so much more. It's worthwhile to checkout.

Great antiques! Not like most whereas you wouldn't have 7/8ths of what they're trying to sell. Quality antiques and vintage items.

Can’t believe how cool and organized the place was! Didn’t even feel like an antique shop more like a museum!

The worst buying experience on eBay occurred in my attempt to buy a rug that Leffler's Antique was peddling via their eBay store.

In late December, I spent a week on eBay going through 400 carpets (all 9x12) and found the one I like which happened to be what some person called Mr. Leffler had in some warehouse in Ohio (he sells via eBay and via his own shop).

So after going through some q&a by phone with his shop to clarify the rug photo quality they uploaded and confirming the features of the semi-antique rug with the nice employee ladies in the shop, I decided to buy this 9x12 Persian rug. I even got the ladies to give me the shipping method and the contact info for the driver.

All was hunky dory peachy pie. I was going to have our carpet the first full week of January! Hurray!

That is when the nightmare started.

So, I happily went on my eBay account where I have TWO credit cards registered in my profile EACH with huge credit limits. BY CHOICE I DO NOT HAVE PAYPAL AND WILL NEVER GET A PAYPAL ACCOUNT AS I WANT TO SIMPLIFY MY LIFE.

So when I clicked by using one of my two registered credit cards, the Ebay pop up comes up in bright red and says simply:

"Payment method invalid please try again or use another method".

I tried 5 times and re-entered all my card information 5 times and each time eBay replied: your card details are valid thank you!

I then called eBay directly and spent an hour and they said they had no idea why it didn't accept one of my valid pre-registered credit cards.

Instead they blamed it on Paypal and told me to call Paypal and ask why Paypal didn't just debit my credit card in full and THEN pay Mr. Lefflers in his Ohio shop. I thought that was fine and seemed normal since many eBay buyers like me have ZERO INTEREST IN GETTING PAYPAL ACCOUNTS.

So I called Paypal (they only answer from their Philippine low cost call center in broken English). I spent 45 minutes on the phone listening to the same Paypal music. Then some lady with poor English but very nice personality came and said she felt it was some side deal that Leffler's Antiques must have signed with eBay which does not allow Paypal to DEBIT MY CREDIT CARD AND VIA PAYPAL HAVE MR. LEFFLER CREDITED THE $2,232.

They said to call eBay back again and ask why eBay didn't tell the truth on the pop up and say instead in bright red message:

"DEAR EBAY CUSTOMER: SORRY BUT THE MERCHANT YOU ARE TRYING TO BUY YOUR CARPET FROM DOES NOT TRUST CREDIT CARDS AND ONLY TRUSTS PAYPAL ACCOUNT HOLDERS. "

So I followed Paypal's advice and call eBay AGAIN to inquire whether Paypal was talking nonsense. After 30 minutes of going through their documentation she confirmed that indeed Leffler's Antiques does not accept the use of eBay registered credit cards directly but ONLY sells to Paypal account holders on eBay.

Before giving up completely, I called the sweet Ohio ladies again who now acted like they didn't know what was going on but said I could perhaps send a check and once Mr. Leffler cashed it and took my money, he might consider sending the rug out.

But all this would take weeks more and the driver who agreed to deliver the first full week of January would have not been able to do so as he needs to plan driving from Ohio to DC weeks in advance.

So I gave up. Every time I see the word "item offered by Lefflers Antiques" I will run away fast! No old rug and no human-made object is worth the stress I went through buying from Leffler's Antique.

MESSAGE TO OTHER UNSUSPECTING VICTIMS: ONLY BUY AN OBJECT FROM LEFFLER'S ON EBAY IF YOU ALREADY HAVE A PAYPAL ACCOUNT. SIMPLE AS THAT.
