Kathleen and the whole staff made our adoption of Harlowe a wonderful experience! They really care about these animals and it shows! Can’t express enough why you and your family should make them tops on your list when considering a new member to your family!

Three weeks ago we went to Licking Co Shelter & fell in love with 9 week old Copper which is now named 'Baxter'. Adorable cuddle bug! Took it nice and slow introducing him to our other critters, they're all adjusting very well

We have had Clark (formerely Buddy) for three weeks now. He has made a huge turn around and now begs to be picked up and held, loves his new brother, Otis, loves the dog park and goes nuts there playing and running. Still working on toilet training. We had blood work and all shots given. He, at times, has a slight choking cough but did not do it for Vets. He is a great addition to our family.

Wonderful facility and great pets.a bit confusing about the process and staff didn't seem too interested in helping at first.

This is an amazing place. I sat in the parking lot for a bit, and watched car after car bringing in the greatest donations. Before anything we gladly presented our current dogs shot records and our lease, which is a great vetting process some places aren't responsible enough to do. I was super nervous but the staff eased my anxiety, and knew exactly how to go about introducing our current dog to the dog we were inquiring about. Our current dog doesn't travel well, but her vet gave her something to make it easier on her, and the 45 min drive there was no sweat. On the way home the dogs both passed out and slept the whole way home. They had both had a big day. Long story short, I'm currently in a cuddle puddle with both of them right now, and we couldn't be happier.

With having a dog that recently passed and another at home that is lonely and upset being by itself, you would think a humane society would want to help since they are all about caring for animals. Wrong. They are very strict about not touching the animals (which yes it is understandable that you don’t want the animals to get sick) but seriously? How is anyone supposed to find their perfect match if you can’t interact with any of them. They have no right to tell us that a dog isn’t a good fit for us when all we have done is fill out a questionnaire. They also require a meet and greet between the dog you want and the dog you have. Our dog can’t be in a car longer for 15 minutes without freaking out and we live an hour from the humane society. When we brought this to their attention we were told, “I have employees that drive an hour to work everyday. ” I’m sorry but that is no way to address a problem. For “caring” about these animals so much, they don’t seem too concerned about getting them to actual homes instead of kennels. Not to mention the owner/manager or whatever she wants to call herself, is not professional whatsoever. Talk to your customers that are helping you make your money like they are actual people. The snarky and rude comments are completely uncalled for.

We came here to look for a new companion and we found a few dogs that caught our eye. We were told we would be able to interact with the ones we wanted to see so we could be sure they would be a good fit for our household and other dog. We completed the questionnaire and the interview with pretty good results. So as to the fact that we were just beginning looking and was not 100% sure that we wanted to adopt any dogs at all they wouldn’t not let us interact with the dogs at all. Tell me how you are supposed to know for sure how you know that’s the one you’re looking for if you can’t interact with them? Anyways the staff member Jackie was very snippy with us after we told her that we can’t bring our dog (who throws up and poops in the car 3 minutes into the car ride) due to the fact we live a hour and 20 minutes away. She acted as if we were stupid and mocked us saying “well I have staff members who drive a hour here”. She truly ruined any experience with any humane society for us. I understand having the best interest for your animals but good luck getting rid of them when she treats people like that. If you still want to adopt I HIGHLY suggest going somewhere else. 10/10 DO NOT recommend. Go somewhere where you are respected and treated like a human.

I was a bit surprised when I discovered I was expected to fill out an application and go through an interview process before being allowed to visit one-on-one with a puppy. Still, I had my eye on a few pups so I did it. As it turned out, the process made all the difference. As one staff member got to know me, she suggested I take some time with a puppy I hadn’t considered. Well, after bringing me my first choice (a crazy little beagle mix), I agreed to meet with her recommended pup. The interaction with that puppy was priceless. I adopted her right then. To those who lined me up with the perfect pup, Skirt’s new name is Georgia.

The Licking County Humane Society claims that they are all about the love and care for pets. This is false. On more than one occasion they have been known to not approve an application where the end result would have been a dog in a happy home and not in a shelter. They then ask for money because they are so full. Against our gut because of their reputation, we attempted to take our puppy to their clinic to have her spayed and my husband scheduled for the incorrect date. She will be with a sitter at that time and we want her to be comfortable. Rather than letting us reschedule the date so that we can make sure she is comfortable the days after surgery, they refuse unless we pay for a second appointment. Claiming that it is clear on the paperwork and they wouldn't be able to fill the spot. Which spoiler.it is not and the filling a spot is ridiculous. Their spots fill ridiculously fast, not to mention we just scheduled this YESTERDAY. What were they going to do with the spot then? It says that they will not reschedule "IF". We do not fall under any of that criteria. Sounds like they really care about the pup, huh? They care about their money making ability. Period. Really frustrating that a business that should be centered around the animal is centered around the almighty dollar.

I see your response to my review.and I can't respond there so I am editing here. I did not call to cancel my appointment. I called to reschedule it. I have the paperwork. I know what it says. It says no reschedule "IF". We did not meet any of the "if" criteria at that time. We did not cancel and we were not planning to no show. (We did after all of this craziness.) No where does it say that there will be no reschedule for any reason. There were conditions to the no reschedule that at the time we did not meet. You should change the language on your paperwork to simply no reschedules. I am also aware of what you said as you talked down to me, over me, and in the end hung up on me when you didn't like what I had to say and kept proving my point. I don't plan on calling again to tell you the same things. What is done is done. Your customer service needs work. And if you cared about the animals you would have rescheduled, but you don't and that has been proven in more cases than just this one. You care about holding onto your dollar. Which you did since I will not be asking for a refund because we now meet the criteria to not be refunded/rescheduled as we did not show up for the appointment because we will never support this business in any way again. Again, you could have filled the spot. You have posted for a last minute spot before and it gets filled. What were you going to do if my husband didn't stop on Sunday and take that spot? You would have posted about having spots. All of that needing to pay staff is bogus.

Truly an amazing experience. The facility is soooo nice. Everything to complete the adoption was seamless. They required a meet and greet with our other family dog, which we felt was responsible. We absolutely love our Darby! We will be coming back when we are ready to add another pet to the family.

We went in to look at some pups that we saw on-line. The staff was so patient and they asked a lot of questions to ensure we were making the right choice. Needless to say we have our amazing Landry due to these folks! Thank you for all you dob

Don’t believe what you read on their webpage, they DO NOT want you to meet the animal before filling out a questionnaire. We filled out a questionnaire online prior to going in. Usually I call before making a trip, but I didn’t in this case because of what their site says. We went in and after waiting 30 minutes to even talk to one of the 10 Staff members standing around chatting we were turned away because our pet policy was ‘weird’ and didn’t have any breed or size requirements (because there aren’t any). All in all if you rent, they will likely give you a hard time so definitely call before trying this shelter out.

I hate them because I was going to get a kitten and we said it was going to be outside and they said no you can not have the kitten! It made me so mad.

The dogs are very well taken care of, as well as, the place it self, very clean atmosphere, for these fur babies. The staff were quite knowledgeable and very caring. I will be going back again, to find and give one, a forever home.

I contribute as much as possible. I believe these animals are all worth it. If I had the land I would be able to care for them all; a holy work I think.

My dog was recently spayed at the Humane Society. The clinic was very clean and very organized. Everything went as planned. Incision was very small and clean. They did a fantastic job! Very affordable! Highly recommend!
