Maumee Valley Unitarian Universalist Congregation, Bowling Green OH

I'm leaving this review with a conflicted and heavy heart. Our family has been meaning to attend this congregation this summer but had not been able to due to scheduling. We were very excited to enroll two of our sons in the Hogwarts summer camp this past weekend and figured since it culminated in a family potluck that it would be a fantastic way to meet and mingle with the members; and though our sons enjoyed the camp, our family's experience with the congregation has led us to decide we won't attend again. Our sons are young and therefore insulated from the standoffishness by the innocence of their youth.yet this was truly one of the most unfriendly church experiences our family has ever encountered. My husband stayed with our sons and no one spoke to him aside from one kind father of other boys and they bonded over the multiethnic background of our family.
When the rest of our family came for the closing ceremony and to bring cinnamon rolls, Not. A. Single. Person.said hello. In fact they huddled in cliques beneath a canopy ignoring newcomers.if you are looking to relive the awkwardness of being a new kid in an unfriendly high school, then this is the church for you. If you are looking for that "I'm home" feeling that we feel church is supposed to fill you with, then I would gently suggest you keep looking, because our family came with eager hearts and left with dashed hopes.
