Mellett Animal Hospital, Canton OH

We have been taking our dogs and cats to Mellett for many many years. In the past several years, we have noticed a lack of compassion for our pets and the concerns we have addressed. It always seems rushed and truthfully, I don’t think staff care about the animals- just another client. After 2 long years of our dog battling cancer, we have made the hardest decision to put her down. However, they were going to charge us twice as much as surrounding vets. Several hundred dollar difference. Needless to say, we have collected our pets records and will be moving on to a new vet local to us. Who is charging $240 to euthanise AND cremate. Mellett has really let us down and it’s unfortunate as we have been clients for so long.
Also wanted to add that the other vet I am going to is offering us a clipping of fur and a paw print - included in the total cost of 240. Mellett wants $10 for a paw print.in total- Mellett was going to charge us SEVERAL hundred more dollars than surrounding vets.

The staff is very friendly and professional. Dr Keller is very calm and gentle with my dogs even when my senior is being very difficult. He always answers all my questions. We started seeing him by recommendation of a neighbor when we moved down here from Michigan. My senior girl was already on incontinence medication from her Michigan vet that they don't carry at at this office, but Dr Keller had no problem writing a paper script to get it filled with refills so that I can keep her on what we know is already working for her. When I took my new puppy in they did everything to make it a positive experience. Also, the groomers there let me go in the back with them when they do my girl's nails since she hates having her nails done and does better with me there. The groomers are the best I've ever had taken my dogs to by far.

I have been going to Mellett Animal Hospital for 40+ years. I started with Dr Hickman, then with Dr Blocher. He is the very best. My cats and German Shepherds love ️ (loved) him as he is kind, gentle, slow-moving, and quiet speaking. He doesn’t scare them when he walks in. Dr Blocher is honest and when I lost my first German Shepherd, he teared up with me. He has a big heart and treats animals like his own. He is the best. His assistants are awesome also, kind and caring. -Diane C.

In 20 years of owning dogs, by far and away the worst veterinarian clinic I’ve ever taken any of my dogs to.

They treated my dog horribly, the front office staff is rude, and the techs are arrogant.

Love taking my dog here. Always polite and helpful. Had a not so nice experience with a rude woman who decided to bring her two dogs in at the same time and couldn’t control them. They decided to come after my poor dog who already has enough anxiety as it is. Thank goodness for a worker who came to help me get her dog off of mine! If you can’t control two dogs at the same time then don’t bring them in together. That definitely needs made aware.

I've been a patron there for 20 years and all the Veterinarian's are good at diagnosing and treating and all the staff treat you and your pet respectfully.

Took our dog there for an upper eye cyst surgery and they punctured her trachea and now has subcutaneous emphysema. Do not take your dog there if you care for them. They clearly do not have the patience, steady hands or the knowledge to care for you’re pet properly

They really care about animals here unlike the emergency vet on Whipple who we won't name (you know the one). Everybody was nice and the docs know their animals. Reasonable price for the visit. Hope to schedule our pup to get neutered soon.

I feel that Mellet Animal Hospital is one of the best, if not THE best in Stark county.
The doctors are professional and treat your furry family like their own. I cannot say enough about them. If you love, and care for your pet, this is where you need to take them.

This is the best place to take your animals. The staff and vet's are the best. I would never take my animals anyplace else. Thank you so much for all you do.

I have been going to Mellett for 30 years. Dr. Blocher is our vet and he is wonderful, professional, kind and patient. I have also used the boarding for 30 years and Mike and the kennel crew do a great job in watching over my dogs. Susan and Lori at the front desk are friendly, professional and accommodating. MAH has been over preference for nearly 20 years. They care about the animals and charge fair rates. I honestly could not recommend them more.
