Mercy Health - Howland Urgent Care reviews
19I came here looking for emergent help, my PCP told me to get to the ER and I was in distress and came here hoping they could help me get an ambulance. The front desk lady was amazing however, when she called a nurse over she threw a pulse ox on me and rolled her eyes and said “she’s just anxious there’s nothing wrong” she proceeded to walk to the end of the hall and say very loudly that I was a huge waste of time, if my doc said to go to the ER what the heck did I come there for, and that this was my problem and not theirs. Mind you, I’m hyperventilating and having complications from Covid. They wound up calling an ambulance where we later found out that my potassium tanked and I had an abnormal EKG and my labs were all out of whack and I had a migraine for so many days that I was having neurological problems. This “nurse” was not only dead wrong, she was horribly rude and cold and uncaring. I can’t believe someone like this is in healthcare. Even the paramedics said they hate that urgent care because they have a horrible reputation. I can see why. I would avoid this place at all costs. I used to work at the primary care behind them and I had patients complain about them ALL the time but it was usually a physician who was rude to them. I can’t even believe the way I was treated by this person, and in an emergent situation, no less. HUGELY disappointing. She should be FIRED!
I simply called to check protocol for being seen at this time. SANDY was absolutely the rudest human I have ever spoken to. She hung up on me and I called back and asked for a supervisor and she yelled at me and hung up again.
Very good experience. My child had a bee sting by his eye and couldn’t see. The staff was wonderful and caring. I love this urgent care.
DO NOT GO HERE! ESPECIALLY FOR A COVID TEST! My review is a bit long and the full details for my horrible experience are here in the photos below, but to cut to the chase: The night before what was supposed to be my wedding day, I was up all night with horrible covid symptoms even though I am fully vaccinated. After being told twice that I could get a rapid test here both on the phone by the secretary and at the urgent care by the same woman, every single one of my concerns were dismissed and denied by the nurse practitioner and she said I couldn't get tested. She was so dismissive, rude, backhanded, and showed absolutely no compassion. She had the worst bedside manner I've ever encountered. I bawled my eyes out in her office after she was so dismissive and uncaring about my covid symptoms. I ended up begging her for any help or information at all on how I could get a rapid test that day and she said she couldn't help me at all. She wasted 2 hours of what should have been the happiest day of my life. She had the nerve to say my obvious symptoms of a breakthrough case of covid were probably just nerves for my wedding.
The fact that either I was told the wrong information at first two different times, which should not happen with a medical establishment when covid cases are so serious right now, OR I was blatantly denied a covid test I could have had is absolutely abhorrent, unacceptable, disgusting, and so unprofessional!
I tested positive for covid at a different location about an hour or so after I left this place. I am absolutely livid at how I was treated at this establishment.
I spent two hours not being helped at Mercy Health and was able to get my results in 10 minutes at Champion Med Express, where the staff went above and beyond for me in every way!
Reviews are accurate. I wish I would have read them before I came here; if your in a hurry, go somewhere else
I will not go back. The nurse practices was rude and dismissive. I was told I needed to be seen in the ER due to a rapid heart beat and low oxygen levels. Never tested me for covid. Indicated I was on a bad way but released me to drive myself to the ER. I was not very happy to get horrible treatment after waiting almost 3 hours to be seen. This place is a joke.
The NP, Marian is rude as heck. Explained to her that I more than likely have bronchitis and she continues to act like I have the plague. I agreed to covid test bc I cannot have a chest xray due to being pregnant; and she acted like that was putting her out of the way. She has HORRIBLE bedside manner. I have worked in the medical field for years and if you are that unhappy with your job, leave. Do not take it out on the patients that just want relief from being injured or sick. Other than that I have not had an issue with any other staff.
Physician refused to give rapid COVID test to bride who was presenting symptoms on her wedding day because she was vaccinated and asked her if it was “just nerves. ” Bride went to a different clinic the same day and tested positive for COVID and had to cancel her wedding. It was extremely unprofessional and irresponsible as a healthcare practitioner to deny the initial test, and also just cruel to make the bride wait for 2 hours and then play down her serious concerns on such an important day. I will never visit a MercyHealth urgent care again
It ges by order of arrival not emergency obviously! I brought my mother in law here because this is where her Dr. Told her to go necause se was having excruciating pain in her back. She cant sit or stand long and we are sitting here for now an hour and fifteen minutes. One lady walked out and left because her wait was too long. The nutse called my moms name and it took her a few minutes to get up out of the chair and then once she was able to get up the nurse "Oh nevermind, they called someone else next who is sitting outside! " I DO NOT recommend this place at all.
Huge thanks to the doctor on duty, Patty and staff for their help today. Their professionalism and speed of care were impressive. I still can't believe how quickly they treated me and had me on the road to recovery. Thank you all.
Waste of time and money. I told them my Dr.recommended that I go and the nurse practitioner to me she didn't know why I came there. She didn't do any sort of exam. Asked me a couple of questions and said "I guess I should listen to you" and then listened to my heart. What a joke.
I will NEVER use this urgent care again solely because of the CPN on duty.
The CPN on duty (Marian Conner) should not be in the field to help people. She had no bed side manner, extremely rude, and no drive to help others. I was being seen for an allergic reaction and she did not perform a full physical evaluation nor actually listen to what was going on. She just looked at the exposed skin on my arms and said “well you don’t have a rash; I don’t know what to tell you other than deal with it until you see the allergist on Friday”. If she had any urge to actually try to understand and help she would of been able to see that I had a reaction very similar to this one back in February which is documented in their system. I was only using it because the provider I see is uses them…I will continue to use WELL NOW aka hometown urgent.
The staff here were exceptionally unprofessional. The waits were unacceptably long. We were left in rooms alone without being checked on. This place is a lawsuit waiting to happen. They didn't even want to hear a word you said about why you came in.
Terrible Urgent Care staff. My very old grandmother waited for over 2 hours to be seen and when the Nurse Practitioner came in, she didn’t even check her using a stethoscope or anything and instead immediately stated “well if she’s having trouble breathing she needs to go to the emergency department, we can’t help her”. It’s unbelievable to me that they allowed a high risk patient to wait in fear/discomfort for over 2 hours, simply to be turned away. She’s in the Emergency Dept now and the length of time she waited at this Urgent Care could have severely impacted her life. I’ll be following up with Mercy Health Leadership both locally and at their headquarters regarding the individuals we encountered today at Howland Urgent Care.
My one year old had burned his hand one Saturday evening and we brought him to the 46 urgent care. By the time we got there he had fallen asleep in his car seat. I'd gotten there and told them the situation and the doctor was nice enough to come out to the truck to see the extent of his injuries so didn't have to immediately wake him until they were ready for him. They were all very caring and professional. We weren't there for more than 30 min. 5*
Was visiting from our of town and was worried about having strep. The wait was not bad and the staff were nice. Saw a physician's aid and got a prescription for cough medicine. No other tests. Paid $105 co-pay. When I got the bill, our insurance was invoiced $325 for the "emergency room" and another $525 for the docto'r's visit. Out of pocket we paid $272 for a visit to a physician's aid (not a physician) for a cough. When I asked why were weren't told that there would be 2 separate bills, they didn't have an answer - just that 1 bill was for the room and the other for the doctor. I have been to other urgent care's and have never paid more than $150 dollars.
Everyone was super nice and friendly! I came close to closing time but they welcomed me and got me in and out. Great experience!
Extremely friendly staff. You can tell that helping others & caring for people’s health is their priority. I was taken back to an exam room almost immediately after being checked in. Nurses and provider were very quick & attentive. I was in out and felt very good about my visit afterward. I highly recommend if you’re in the warren area to make this your primary choice when urgent care is the necessary option.
Went in around 7: 30pm. My son was sick. Had vomited in the night and had diarrhea. Woke up feeling extremely weak and had a headache. As the day went on his temperature began to rise. Started around 99 and went up to 101.2. He claimed he was "super dizzy" and it hurt to breathe if he took too deep of a breath. It was at this point I determined he needed to be checked. To get a Covid test at the very least. He went in with his father and she told my son, "I don't see anything wrong with you right now but I'll order you nausea medication anyway. " That was it. I would not send my son in to an Urgent Care if I felt all he needed was nausea medication. I'm really confused why they would not do a Covid test. I mean, isn't that the norm now? This place is awful and I think they were more concerned about going home than anything.
