6Despite the challenges that COVID has brought to the long term care facilities since March 2020, the care my father received at Merit House was good. The staff was helpful with our "window" visits during this time. They were also patient with any questions or concerns our family had.
I was in the Merritt house for about 4 months 55 year old bilateral amputee. Physical Therapy was great the aides were great. They came around make sure you had what you needed. Very clean. Courtyard out back. Some of the employees brought your dogs in that was nice the owner has a nice dog. I've stayed in quite a few of these places I stayed in a really state-of-the-art place out on MCO property. But I've yet to stay in one that equals American house it's a very good facility the people are good. My overall experience was pretty good deal my name is Tim Wells I'm 55 years old
I had to put my husband in. On the 4th day we were able to get hospice involved. When he got home he looked horrible. Not from his illness. But from them not taking care of him. He had servere dry lips and tongue.and eyes were stuck shut from no one taking care of him. My 2 girls and I had to clean him up. 3 days later he passed away. His mouth was so dry there was no way they gave him anything to drink. Hell when we were able to give him liquid so I don't know why they didn't.
Our family loves Merit House. Sara and Lisa (nurses) are the best. They have made my mother feel at home. The owners have bent over backward to help us. The assisted living is great. They have renovated the assisted living rooms and each has their own bathroom. I feel very safe having my mother there. The staff is always personable and helpful. I looked in the Toledo area for an assisted living which accepts Medicaid and this place is by far so much better. If your looking for a place for your parent I feel you can't go wrong. Check it out.
Not a diverse community. Walked in one day to visit a family member and they had a cotton reef hanging on the door. I did not find that in any way attractive. Also in my family member room their was mood under the flooring. Brought to the administrator attention and was kind of blown off. Staffing is always short, Nursing Assts.and Nurses. Just not the best place to send a love one.
