Please please research before you take your beloved pet here. My wife just spent nearly 8 hrs overnight here with our family cat and what an awful experience. We came here with our cat that was having trouble breathing because a friend works here and we thought that was a good idea. Right away they took her back but then they want to talk all about money before they preceded with any care. It’s sort of like how a car salesman takes the keys to your trade right away and tries to take them hostage to get you to work a deal but this is far worse because your dealing with a live animal you love and not just some stupid car. During this process my wife got random mixed info on the diagnosis as well as the cost. It was like they just kept throwing around ideas until they could get her to agree to a potential budget before they would administer care. Naturally they started with the highest possible cost and then worked down from there. Finally we agreed to procedure to drain fluid from her lungs and two different people in including the on duty vet quoted her price and assured her that was all would be and the procedure would be cost wise and that it would take approximately 2 hours. Nearly 6 hours later they are finally done and want $380 more than we agreed on. When my wife tried to talk to them about this they wouldn’t budge and wanted her to sign paperwork for the additional cost and held our sick cat hostage in the back demanding she pay before they bring her back out. My wife stood her ground and they drug there feet (on purpose I’m sure) but finally brought our cat back out, still demanding she sign and said if she didn’t they’d just send it to collections. My wife left anyway with our cat and refused to sign. So we still have a battle ahead with this immoral place. They already have $1100 of our money just to take a cat, back, put her on oxygen and then drain fluid from her lungs. They still want nearly another $400 that was never discussed. Shame on you metro animal hospital. It’s awful that you’ve become a place that’s all about the money and operates more like a car dealership than a place that’s supposed to help families in their most desperate and vulnerable hours.

The wait is brutal. There was some kind of misunderstanding with the receptionist. She said there was only one person ahead of me, in triage. Looking back I think they just thought my cat wasn't in serious danger, so they kept allowing others in line ahead of me. That's the way it seems anyhow. But I left after four hours with no word. I'm not angry anymore because I found a solution for the cats problem and her health seems to be improving. If I were to offer you any advice it would be to implement honest wait-time updates every thirty minutes. I know there's a shortage of people nationwide in every industry. But you've got a load of assistants walking around that could stop by every 20-30 minutes and give some kind of sincere and caring update that would keep people from diving into despair. Thank you for calling and checking on my cat. It got the hospital a revised review and another star.take care.

We saw Dr Michelle Villalba today, she explained everything to us for our Jojo's cardiac workup. Amanda the tech was totally wonderful and Kayla who checked us out so kind.
We traveled over 1hour and 45 minutes in the pouring rain and were very pleased with the care we received today! Jojo is deaf and afraid of strangers and they showed such care and kindness to her!
She is also a Heeler (cattle dog) most places shy away just hearing the breed but our rescue girl had great care today. Thank You all!
The price we were quoted, testing was all up front on scheduling so we were prepared for the visit and they even got us in early due to a cancelation.

Have been here twice, once for an appt with their internal medicine department and the other for their emergency services.

Both times we had great experiences with staff. They’re an emergency hospital that has to prioritize patients on emergency basis, same as a human hospital - wait times will vary depending on how stable your pet is. We went in for an emergency and thankfully they were slow enough that our wait time was short.

This will be our continued choice ER/Speciality clinic for future needs. Thank y’all for everything you do and taking care of so many fur babies! Working ER is no joke and I appreciate all you do! <3.

If I could give a 0 I would! I brought my dog here to be seen for an infection on her paw we sat for 4 hrs and watched them have no concern for our animal when we asked about her being seen the girl was rude and was of no assistance! This is a terrible place! We brought our cat here 3 years ago and had a terrible time then but thought Maybe it was the day however here we are again the same thing! Would olnot recommend

I’m not even sure how this place can consider themselves a veterinary hospital with the way they proceed with business. I came to this office at 9pm and didn’t leave till 5am the following day. I brought my dog in for a possible bowel obstruction due to vomiting all day and not being able to hold food down that when asking over the phone they made seem like it was an emergency so we rushed over and weren’t even seen for vitals until an hour after we got there and then waited another 3 hours for the doctor to even talk to us about our dog and our options. What made me the most disappointed is when it came to discharge and treatment. We were told we would receive a call with his results but instead had to ask about the result 2 1/2 hours later. And then we asked to be discharged it took them an hour to get the paperwork ready and then another 45 minutes for me to receive my dog. This is a terrible way to run a business and for it being such an emergency clearly it wasn’t if my dog can sit in your office for 4 hours before even being seen. Never again will I bring my animals here.

I have had nothing good come out of any of the 3 visits I have had there. My last visit was the most devastating leaving me with tremendous anxiety after being forced to put my dog to sleep. I brought him is in with Laryngeal paralysis breathing issues. In hopes of getting him a stint or Tie back surgery. But no surgeons available at night. On arrival I asked to tell me what they are doing to him before anything is done and I asked if they would only just give him oxygen and if need be something to calm him. They were more concerned about my $475 deposit before they would do anything. I could hear the girls asking if they were good to go. Meaning did you get the payment. They ended up giving him 2 drugs one being Butorphanol which I now found out caused him to have increased BP and heart rate making him breath so fast and hard like he was Running a marathon. If it kept up he would have had a heart attack. They had my dog in another room and I was being told he was getting worse, and starting to pant harder. He's not responding to the medication (Respiratory distress is a response) and at that point Dr Page was telling me that most people make this the end point, wanting me to put him down. (In hind sight probably so I wouldn't see what they did to him) I told them to bring him to me to see if he would calm him down, Dr Page told me everyone thinks bringing their dog to them will help calm them and it never does. They seemed very nervous in doing so and increased with each check in, telling me he may go into cardiac arrest. They did ask if I wanted CPR done on him. With not knowing what they gave him and what it does to dogs, I asked why he was breathing so hard and panting. They told me he was breathing with shorter fast breaths to increase his oxygen in take. But his tongue was very pink. Things were not making sense but I was just so concerned of the state he was in and suffering. The vet Dr Page kept telling me that this was the point where many people make it an end point. I couldn't see him in the distress any longer, this went on for close to 3 hrs and had to put him to sleep because I was told there was nothing else they can do. Only to find out there is a drug that could have reversed this reaction called Naloxone. If this keeps happening why do they keep using this drug and keep this Vet employed? Its says on the label not recommended for elder dogs and dogs that have Hypothyroid. I had to ask for a statement for what I paid for and requested his records and found they are very vague. No medication or supplements noted. I am so Horrified and disgusted with the care. For a 13 year old dog he had so much life left in him. This was my child my babies life they ended sooner than it should have. When I called in the next day to give them the name of my Fiance that was picking him up, the person on the emergency line said she would note it his records. They called me saying someone was there to pick up my dog, there was no note in the record. They can't even do that right.
I had to add a star in order to Post.

We were at this hospital over 4 hours people walked in after us that were not critical and they still never saw my dog.
We were next on the list for 21/2 hours
And the staff was very rude and showed no respect.
My dog was sick too.
We won't come to this animal hospital again

I really don't even want to give these people a 1 star rating.anyone with a dog whos been here since last Friday 9/1 if your dog has tested positive for parvo its because they apparently take no precautions to keep it from spreading.no basic infectious disease precautions at all. They charged my best friend over 10 grand to treat her puppy for parvo wouldn't let her visit because he was "contagious" and when she couldn't keep paying upfront refused to work a payment plan and she was forced to put him down. Then brought him in a dirty room with no PPEs didn't make us suit and then let us leave through the main door. This place is trash and I feel like they scammed her. And that poor puppy suffered terribly.

Emergency middle of the night care needed for our senior cat. Immediate care by a kind compassionate staff. Patient with us in a highly emotional time. Thoroughly explained options. Very professional.

Below is the email I sent to Metro, I still have got no response from them.

I'm sharing this in hopes Metro doesn't use your animals like they used mine.

It's a good thing MedVet is down the road. I will never be back Metro, all they want is to profit off your pets doing unnecessary tests. It's absolutely shameful and sickening.

Thursday night I brought my cat Crappie in to be diagnosed. His symptoms were vomiting, diarrhea, foaming at he mouth he was also lethargic.
The intern looked at him, she told me he was stable and that his vitals were good. She told me she was going to take blood work and do a urine sample. I'm absolutely fine with this.
When the results came back she told me his blood work and the urine tests came back good.
She then recommended I get a radiograph done and for Crappie to stay overnight.
I felt bad but had to question her a few times as to why she needs to do these additional tests done if the following are all good:
Exam is good
He's Stableu
Vitals are good
Blood work good
Urine is good
My question is still- why she felt to go to the extreme as to recommending for Crappie to stay overnight.
I did asked is this necessary? ! She said yes because he did vomit and he's not eating. I said if his blood work, urine test, his vitals are good and he's stable can't you just give him fluids and send him home with me, (in a less stressful environment) I'm really not understanding this, and something didn't feel right. Feeling pressured- I called my husband and asked him because I knew he would say no, She explained it to him he said well if she's saying he needs this maybe he should. So I regretfully said yes.
At this point the price was $518. I have no issues with this at all.
When I go to check out the receptionist told me I owe minimum $1200 low end, due now-to $1900 high end. I said, what? ! It was just $518 and hour ago. I never got an detailed statement of what there going to do for Crappie. Everytime I've been there I've got this. My question is- how does this happen? The only price that was discussed with me is the $518.
Crappie was at your establishment for 15 hours and got the following done for a total of $1324.
Exam
Blood work
Urine test
Fluids
Meds
This seems a bit high to me.
If I wouldn't have talked with Madison the shift supervisor the next day because I was so upset the night before, no telling what my bill would've been.
Madison is very professional and handles herself very well.
I had Crappie at your establishment 2 years ago with the same issues. Both visits and I still don't have any answers as to what is causing this. So a total of $2.964 later we still have no answers as to why.
I'm going to be honest here like I was with Madison. I feel your establishment tells vulnerable customers who are very upset that there animals are sick that there animal needs this test done, and this test and that test done. A lot of the time- unnecessary tests to make money. I feel your establishment uses animals to make money, suggesting certain tests need done when actually they really don't. I feel this is very concerning and frankly makes me very angry. The fact that your establishment used my Crappie to make money really makes me angry. This is not the first time I've felt this way visiting your establishment.
Apparently I'm not the only one feeling this way. If you read your reviews which I'm sure you do- you have a lot of upset customers, a lot that will not be coming back to your establishment for the above reasons.

Horrible experience. Waited hours to even be seen. They overcharge and they did nothing to help my cat. Dr Torres couldn’t answer any questions and had excuses for everything. This place is only seeking money and does not care to help the animals. Extremely unhappy with the entire experience. The trip stressed my cat out and didn’t even help him.

Dr. Padgett and the staff at Metro saved my sweet baby. They successfully removed a huge splenic mass and she is better than ever! I was heartbroken since I received news of the mass but it’s all been good news since our first visit at metro. Thank you to every single one of you who helped us through our dogs care. You are truly a blessing.

When it comes to animal emergencies, this place makes you choose whether your pet lives or dies just by the way they charge you upfront. And because they wanted to charge me almost 1300.00 upfront for an emergency situation, my 12wk old kitten passed away the very evening after the visit

We arrived around 11-11: 30am and got put in a room and got 1 test taken after 2 hours.was asked to move back OUTSIDE to the car “for another patient with no ac in the car” and said the doctor would be with us soon.it is now 4: 50pm. We left, are never coming back because as an “emergency” hospital. 6 hours is too long. Not to mention the other dogs going in and out and still not one human being talked to us.foul.i understand there might be other emergencies and other things, but again, there’s other doctors we coulda been switched to, or many other options. 5 mins woulda been perfect.that’s all i asked for.and couldn’t get it.

Excellent care, compassionate staff. I highly recommend this hospital. When my local vets failed to help me and my family, they were there.

If your pet is ill make sure you have several thousand dollars available to pay before going. They want money before saving your pets life. This is my experience.

Technicians are nice, front desk is overworked and understaffed. Doctors need some serious bedside manners and empathy.

Personally I will never take a pet back to this facility.

I admitted my kitten to be kept overnight and was told she would be transferred to internal medicine In the morning, not a single phone call until late afternoon and by 7pm I was told it would be another $2000.00 to transfer her to internal medicine and I had to pay the money before any action would happen…. I decided to take my kitten home and they sent home empty Medicine containers with no medicine in the one…

This is not pet care. This is a business to make money.

This was my experience I will never recommend any of my acquaintances use this facility.

The staff goes above and beyond for their patients. After feeling hopeless and being told there were no options left for my dog Miley, I brought her to Dr. Padgett and he did everything for her. He removed an internal mass and did everything possible to maximize her care. He did an excellent job explaining everything from the second i consulted with him, to reaching out regarding follow ups after the procedure. If you feel hopeless and want to trust someone willing to save your furbaby, it’s him. Dr. Elpiner also completed an ultrasound for Miley and was excellent with her and explained everything throughly.

Not too happy with this place. I would like to say staff is very friendly and did great answering our questions.now for the reason i’m even leaving this.we brought in a barely two month old kitten in with horrible leg damage.she couldn’t move it and even had maggots in her leg: (once talking to the doctor, it was come to the conclusion that she needed to be amputated: (. However, wanted 4,500$ to do so! In my opinion this is absolutely ridiculous.thankfully they were okay with our decision to not go through them and they gave us some antibiotics and we left.we ended up finding a place willing to do the amputation for 175! Once taking her there and they cleaned her up some more, they noticed movement and said she did not need amputated whatsoever… this is why i’m upset.they wanted MORE THAN an arm and a leg for something that did not need to be done
