Front desk staff was very rude. Wouldn’t let my mother come back for the visit even though she knew all of my medical history. But yet would let family’s with multiple young children come in. One lady at front desk said i was “dumber than a box of rocks” and continued to whisper to other staff about my mother wanting to come back. Very upsetting seeing’s how we drove 1.5 hours to get here to see the specialist.

Very poor experience overall. Dr. Philip G. Kies has horrible patient bedside manner and doesn't respect the time of his patients. I would recommend going somewhere else for anything related to eye-care. I'm generally an open-minded person so I hope this helps someone else chose wisely.

Doctors are knowledge. Staff is friendly and helpful. Lobby is very comfortable for those waiting for you to be done. I am very pleased in every aspect and will continue coming there and would highly recommend it!

Doctors are knowledgeable. My one star relates to the front desk. Second appointment where I walk in and the blonde woman acts like you are invisible while I’m standing right in front of her. It’s rather off putting, for the second time, and does not seems like a welcoming environment at all. And if you need me to spell it out, my instincts tell me it’s a bit of racism.

Will go to a different location from now on.

The staff upfront and check in was fine to me. I just didn't like the doctor. He just refuse to hear what I wanted. I need someone who is going to be responsive to my needs.

The exam overall was OK, I wouldn't say that doctor really cares about the patient. I have been seeing ophthalmologists for over 10 years and had much better care. The main issue that I had, was with my bill. I came there for routine appointment, which they confirm with me that they can do and this appointment covered by my insurance 100%, however few weeks later I received bill and when I called they told me that they performed some tests that not part of routine appointment. Of course I am very frustrated about it, because I never sign up for any additional tests. The only resolution for my problem they said, if I don't pay my bill, they send this bill to debt collector. The worst experience that I had, definitely will never go back to this place.

I had congential cataracts and have been seen/treated in several different places, including Duke University. I would not recommend this location to anyone.they are more of a "business" out to make money than to provide quality care to patients. As far as the billing department goes, not helpful at all. I have a Tricare insurance form that needs to be filled out (it is a.pdf) and they will not accept a fax or an e-mail; I must submit it by mail or drop it off at their location. They also tried to tell me that Tricare does not cover eyeglasses in my condition, which is not true - so giving out false information about what insurance will or will not cover, without having any knowledge.

During my visit, I had my optic nerve measured.with no clear reason or justification as to why it needed to be done. I was also told that I might have secondary cataracts (which I don't), and a few other "trumped" up diagnoses. It was as if they were milking me for money. Did not enjoy the experience all around and would not recommend. Again, this is coming from someone who has been going to the opthamologist annually for the last 30 years and has had about 8 eye surgeries. Consider who you let mess with your eyes, you want professionals.not these guys.
