It has been 2 years and I cant get my money for my fire damage. They sent 2 checks and they both bounced. When you call they nickel and dime you. The most worst worst worst worst. They should be sued for lying, not paying people claims and still taking people money without a house.

Awful. Actually less than 1 star. I had a valid claim and they weaseled out of paying. They don't want to accept responsibility and want to make it the insured's fault. Also they do not communicate in a timely fashion.

Worse company. I started with a premium of 1,600 and now bumped up to 4,186 its crazy and no claim at all … Calling in to cancel. I do no recommend this company at all.

I have owned multiple properties and this insurer is probably the one that can be considered predatory. Initial premium: 1,600$ a year. Year 2 premiums: 3,036$. Year 3 premium: 5,100$. With no claims. Would understand if had claims.

Geico led me to this company. I guess they provide homeowner's coverage for Geico in Texas. Geico I REALLY like, but this company has forced me to move away from Geico - Mountain Valley (MVIC) was the only provider.
MVIC gave me a great rate for the first year, but to renew they did a physical inspection. The inspector used a drone from the road around 230 yds from the house. These photos showed some shrubs grown up touching the brick house and eaves - we had just been through record rainfall for 2 months. I was sent a cancellation warning and told I could salvage my policy by cutting the shrubs which was obviously planned as soon as the record rain stopped and everything dried out good.
I cut the growth back and sent photos. They responded "all good, " then DOUBLED the premium on my policy.
I think they gave me a great rate as a "loss leader" with full plans to jack -my rates up the second year. I have owned 7-8 homes over the last 30 years and have NEVER had an insurance company complain about shrubs touching a brick house and threatening to cancel me.
I would urge you to find another insurance company.

Worst customer service, customer experience ever, with a insurance company.would love to give them 0 stars! Just canceled my home owners insurance through them. Never filed a claim with them, but within 1 year my home owners premium increased from $1700 annually to $2900! Would not recommend them to my worst enemy. Their customer care is the least of their concern

Worst insurance company ever by a mile! Sent us homeowners renewal notice 5/8 which was 100% higher even though we've never had a claim. I decide to cancel and take 3/4 days to establish new policy elsewhere. Call the mortgage company to let them know and find out MVIC had invoiced them already (same day we received renewal) and the mortgage company had already paid. Called MVIC to ask for refund and they say no payment received. Then get the mortgage to call them and now MVIC say they were paid but issued refund check to me 5/14 - so they lied to my face first time I called them. Of course its now 5/25 and no check has turned up so we are still missing $2762 - what total crooks! Beware and deal with at your own risk!

I wish I could right a review with no stars but I have to pick one. I'm going into my third week now and my house is still storm ravaged. I called Geico after a storm on the 13 Mar 2019 and they took my information and when they called me back two days later they no record of my claim and we started over. Once I finally got my claim started it was with Mountain Valley and It took them over four days to come out to the house to assess the damage. On the 28 Mar 2019 I finally get the checks and they put the wrong mortgage information which makes the useless. The adjuster admits fault but say he can't new checks out until Monday 1 April 2019. I think this is unacceptable so I ask them to call me and they only respond by email. I even tried to call a supervisor and haven't heard from anyone. After they have paid all of my claims I will be done with them. I would rather pay extra money and have personal insurance agent just because of these situations like this. I guess Mountain Valley doesn't have a customer support in my area or appreciate my business.

I wish zero stars was an option. I had an insurance policy through them and when it was canceled I was supposed to receive a refund check for almost $2000.at the end of January they told me that they had the wrong address and needed it updated to resend the refund check. Not a problem. It is now May and I have yet to receive the refund check. They have stopped pay and reissued this check two times now because I have yet to receive it. It’s gotten to the point that I have been calling them virtually every day for an update and nothing has changed. They still need billing to do the stop payment to reissue ANOTHER check. I was told 24-72 hours for billing and it has now been a week since that. Still have not received this large check after FIVE MONTHS of waiting for something I was told would take a maximum of 10 business days. I will never recommend this company to anyone and I cannot wait to finally get this check so I can never interact with anyone at their office again. Worst customer service I have ever experienced.

Offered me a 125% increase on my homeowners insurance from the previous year. No, thank you.
