Nicholson's Fine Food & Whiskey reviews
15Don’t order here if there is a show across the street- Place would do better to be honest about wait times, which would show much more respect to patrons instead of lip service.
We sat fifteen minutes to be waited on and finally had to snag a server who waited on the table next to us a few times and never acknowledged us. The family next to us left and three older wealthy women sat at the same table. They were waited on both by our server and a member of management while ignoring us. We had to beg for napkins for our food and instead of giving us silverware and cloth napkins we had a few paper cocktail napkins given to us. Then they overcharged us for our drinks. The server told the ladies her name which was different than the name on our receipt. I have no clue why we were treated so badly. This place used to be our Thanksgiving weekend tradition but that is about to change.
This place was great! The bartenders were so kind. We were stopping in before watching Wicked at the Aronoff Center. We got the salmon and the post roast! Sooo amazing! Thanks for a good night!
Service was horrible. Had to wait over 10 minutes at the bar.but not the staffs fault, the place was packed and only 1 person seemed to be working
Stopped in for drinks and an appetizer before a dinner reservation (next door). Crisps with beer cheese and spinach & artichoke dip was excellent. My Scotch flight was also wonderful (love that Nicholson's always serves their whisky with separate ice and water, but that's particularly nice for a flight). My wife gave into the temptation of the Millionaire's Coffee (and did not regret it one bit).
All getting a bit tired and cliché. Service was sloppy, no idea how to pour a Guinness properly but the fish and chips were good.
I got the pork sandwich. It was so well balanced. You start and end with the sour dough which is grilled cheese like. Then you get to enjoy the mix of pork, cheese, sauce and tomato/onions. I recommend it for sure.
Absolutely loved this place! Amazing fish and chips, great beers and huge selection of whiskey/bourbon. Beautiful interior and friendly staff. Will definitely come back.
This is such a great place. We loved the atmosphere and 80s music. We enjoyed the fish and chips. It's the best we've had in a long time. The best surprise was the Belhaven Scottish beer. Made with nitrogen and C02. It was the best dark beer I've had. Smooth and creamy and not bitter.
Had a wonderful meal at Nicholson's before taking in a show across the street. The Shepard's Pie was savory and delicious. Perfect for a drizzly afternoon. Ebony our server was great and took care of us. Loved the atmosphere. Hope we can come back sometime and get a spot by the fire.
Nicholson's would be a movie set for a Scottish pub and simply a fun place to grab a pint if the food weren't also SO GOOD! Their fish and chips alone is worth scheduling the visit. Knowledgeable and helpful staff round out the comfort of this place.
Bring your guests downtown to Nicholson's for something truly unique in Cincinnati or wander in before/after your theater adventures at the nearby Aronoff Center. Cool off on hot days with a pint or spend some time with a few of their reserve Scotch whiskeys around the fire enjoying a chat with the servers.
This is a pub that's good for hours of great food, drink, and laughs.
This is probably the best Great Britain style pub I've ever been to. The banners and mash were to notch, the whiskey selection is amazing, and the service was spot on.
Highly recommend this place.
The staff are great. The establishment is beautiful. The food is delicious. It takes about two hours to complete a 3 course dining experience with long wait times in between. The kitchen staff seems to be overwhelmed. The cocktails are like almost there. It’s like they need a little more work to be very good. I had the smoke and flower, and the black cherry mule. Other than this it was a nice place.
Terrific pub with an old European feel! Great Shepard's pie, great beer selection and nice servers! Love the crest on the ceiling outside- can't wait to go back!
