No. 1 Chinese Kitchen reviews
20Went yesterday and I am so sad about how poor the quality was. We spent $45 on orange chicken, broccoli beef, lo mein, spring rolls and upgraded to fried rice. None of it was good. My daughter took two bites and asked me to cook her dinner. This place was delicious last year. I’m not sure what happened.
One of the best. Go to place and can’t go anywhere else now. Their dim sum are phenomenal!
Normally not bad, but tonight the rice was undercooked and the General Tso's was funky. It was spicy, but salty and not sweet. The chicken was fried way too long and too hard to eat. I hope this was just an off night.
This restaurant has been my "go to" for Chinese since they opened. I had not been there for quite some time and ordered two take-out dinners on 12/24. They were both terrible. The rice was dried to a crisp and the entrees were not prepared or seasoned well. I don't know if the restaurant changed ownership/management since my previous visit or they lost the cooks. But they have lost my business.

Reasons for poor rating = Lunch portions for dinner. $8.25 for a lunch portion and $10.25 for a dinner which is the same size as the lunch portion. Crab Rangoon is smaller than the size of a golf ball.
Again the meal itself tasted great but it is not worth the price.
Don't bother trying to order online. They'll give you a time it will be ready and when you show up it still takes another 30 minutes. Then when you get home haf of the order is wrong. You want Pork Fried rice? I hope Pork Lo Mein without Pork and veggies is ok. You order House Fried rice? I hope you weren't expecting shrimp in it.
I stopped here traveling through Kent thinking this would be like No 1 Kitchen in Portage Lakes which is the best. The two don't compare. I got gen tsos chicken and wonton soup. The chicken was overcooked and dried out, same with the rice. The wonton soup was the highlight but it didn't saved this experience. I couldn't finish the chicken, I was honestly scared from the taste and consistency and that's never happened to me at any restaurant.
Inside this restaurant you can see the kitchen and rest room from the waiting room. We witness them using the microwave to heat rice/food using the plastic to go container. The cook used the restroom didn't wash his hands.
Tried this place last night. Ordered Chicken Lo Mein. The portion of chicken was extremely pathetic. Maybe a quarter cup of chicken sliced into tiny slivers. I had asked what vegetables are cooked in it and one she mentioned was carrots. There was one sliver of carrot in the entire meal. Crab Rangoon was great, but for 11.95 I expected more than noodles in the main dish.
I ordered the Wor Shu Duck for $18.64 which states: a half a boneless duck w.mixed vegetables. What I received was a bunch of random duck pieces filled with bones, mostly backbone no breast meat what so ever and a partial duck leg. For what I paid for and the description on the menu I definitely feel ripped off!
Very tasty food for a reasonable price. The people are courteous. I took takeway and would like to get some more food again.
I really hate to give a bad review but my entire family got really bad food poisoning from this food last night, they were super nice when I ordered but I would hate for this to happen to someone else.
This is a very good Chinese restaurant, we purchase in there two to three times a month. It is is about as authentic as you can get to American made Chinese food. I have been to China several times and with the food that they have available to make here in the United States is very tastefully made they're always pleasant and courteous when I go in, and I would recommend them.
Recommended by a friend. Not impressed with my meal, General Tsos chicken. Bland. My friend had orange chicken. Very spicy and chicken was hard. Wont go back.
Great spot with great food. We order pretty regularly, but also for some big family holiday events. It's awesome to put an order in and know it will be made on time and correct!
I usually order the orange chicken lunch, extra spicy with extra sauce, grab 2 egg rolls and I have 2 meals. Fast, affordable and delicious every time. Thank you for always giving great service and delicious food.
I've gone to this restaurant for lunch once or twice a month for the last six years. It was a nice family owned business, the price was fair and the food was decent. Covid prevented me from going over the past year but for perhaps twice. Something changed. The last time I ordered lo mein but the noodles were all chopped up into tiny pieces. Disappointing. I decided to try them again and specifically asked that they do not chop up the noodles and that I like 'em long. It's Cary out only so when I got to where I was going I discovered that they chopped it up into tiny pieces again. It was in addition very oily and the garlic was over powering. It was completely inedible. I will not be returning.
It’s been three times in a row that I call to order and the lady who answers has no desire to take the order. Consistently the food never looks what I ordered. Very odd place. The prices don’t match the menu prices, make sure you double check before you pay, they always try to overcharge.
Food is good but orders are often wrong, so check before you leave. Person that answers the phone is almost comically rude.
Pre-COVID, they were a lot nicer than they are now. The owner has her underage daughter working the register and handling customer interaction most days. They are no longer friendly at all. Food is average.
