I did not feel listened to or cared for by any member of the staff. When I asked questions the doctor made me feel silly and as though he had no time to deal with me. Their billing was confusing and when I asked for explanations I received no help. This place is a business that does not care about wellness. As far as I can tell they are only concerned with exploiting patients to make money. I only wish zero stars was an options

SCAM ALERT!

Just read the reviews! My family and I have had the same experiences.

DO NOT USE THEM!

I would not recommend Northeast Dermatology. I have been going to this office for about six years and I never feel like I have enough time during my appointments to ask the necessary questions. I always feel rushed whenever I am in an appointment since the office is very busy and the doctors never have enough time.

I was specifically told by their PA (Kaitlyn) during a mole check appointment that if I have two questions during an appointment I have to book two separate appointments. I know for a fact that other offices do not do this from speaking around. I just wanted to ask about a medication for my skin and I was told that I would not have enough time during that appointment since it was a mole check (even though I explicitly called ahead of the appointment time to let them know what I would like to talk about and to ensure that I had enough time to speak about this. The front desk lady assured me I would). I got major attitude from the PA during that appointment because of this. From other reviewers, it seems like it has happened to them as well.

Just recently, I spent 45 minutes after my confirmed appointment time waiting in the waiting room because they were running behind. I get things happen, but the only reason I was able to spend enough time asking questions about two different topics (acne and eczema) was because I had waited so long. I was told by the doctor that normally I should schedule two appointments for these two separate topics but she felt bad that I had waited so long. Again, frustrating.

Also, the nurses line is not super responsive. April is the kindest, most informative there, but it has been a ton of hand holding on multiple occasions to try to get a medication approved. I have played middleman/mediator for months between the specialty pharmacy and the dermatologist office to try to get the medication approved. The communication is not strong. I understand Biologics take time, but if I do not constantly check in and check up on both sides, there would be no movement.

Unfortunately, my situation is unique, and that I will just stay since I am very close to medication approval but I would recommend looking elsewhere for dermatologist support. I will also follow suit once my yearly medication approval lapses.

8/15/2023 Update:
Northeast Dermatology charges patients for transferring medical documents over to a new dermatologist! I can’t make this up.

Spoke with the front desk for medical paperwork transfer to a new dermatologist. They charge $2.88 per page for the first 10 pages and then further charges by page after. You will spend at least $45 transferring your paperwork to a new dermatologist depending on how long your file is. I’ve never heard of such fee from any other Derm. Another reason to look elsewhere.

My family has been going to Northeast dermatology for 5 years for various reasons. From preventative to acne treatment. I am pretty patient and understanding and know this is a busy practice. However, I have to say that in my experience, I am continually disappointed when we leave to the point that I am asking myself why we still return.
The practitioner we see is a bit “snarky” according to my 15 year old. I feel like she speaks to me in a dismissive and condescending tone and is rarely in the room for more than 3-4 minutes: when I say rushed, I mean rushed. After today, we will be looking for a new provider in the area. I believe this practice may have expertise but patient education and care is so important and it always feels like they come up short. We are feeling rushed in and out and follow up is poor. My comfort level and trust in northeast dermatology is minimal.

Would give 0 stars if could. Very rude and inconsiderate office staff ESPECIALLY CARMEN. Would not recommend!

I had an appointment in August 2022 to see about prescription Botox for hyperhydrosis. I can’t count the number of times I called the office throughout this 11 month fiasco. Sometimes several times in one week, to speak with office manager Terry about what is going on and where we’re at in the process. Most of the time, she wouldn’t return my calls and I would have to be very persistent for her to pick up the phone. Initially, I was told it was denied and they are appealing it and from then on she kept telling me they’re still waiting to hear about the appeal. It is now July 2023, and I still have not heard a word from Terry or anyone else at this office so I gave up and went somewhere else. I had my initial consultation at the new place in May of this year (2023), and just got my approval letter last week (July 2023). I’m upset with myself for wasting so much time and energy with NE Derm. Definitely do not recommend!

The office moves you very fast. Not necessarily a bad thing, but they're very abrupt and very non-personable while doing so. Almost felt cattle being hurted through the BMV. I seen the physicians assistant, which was in the room for literally 2 minutes. I would ask questions and she would give me the bare minimum. I could have received better skin care advice from the crackhead drag queen from down the street.

This office has terrible patient care. When I made my appointment, I was asked to go online to fill out and update my info, which I did before I arrived. Once I checked in, I was thanked for filling out the forms online, but was still asked to fill out more paperwork in the office. I was brought back to the exam room and was asked about my issues which was a skin cancer check and a rash on my ankle. I was lectured about that and that I might need to make a second appointment to look at my rash (even though it would be looked at during my skin check). Once the PA entered the exam room, again I was asked about my issues and again lectured about that being too many issues to go over in 1 appointment. It felt so rushed during the appointment like she couldn’t get done with the exam fast enough. I don’t know what kind of time slots they schedule for their appointments, but she was in and out of the room within 5 minutes. When I made my appointment, I told the girl my issues, so I assume they would schedule me in the correct time slot. My advice to them is to slow down and make your patients feel like you care about them instead of running from room to room barely making eye contact. I will not be returning.

Do not go here. I showed up 5 minutes late for my appointment one day. I had a difficult drop off with the kiddos at daycare that morning. It happens. I’ve never been late before. When they took me back to the room, the nurse said the PA didn’t have time to address all of my concerns so I’d have to pick the top one. The PA came in with a trainee, talked to me for all of 60 seconds and left. Are you kidding me? ! I immediately called back once I got home to complain about her awful manners and terrible bedside manner. Then we got a giant bill which we reluctantly paid only for them to almost send us to collections over THEIR error. This place is a joke and I would highly recommend you NEVER go here. All of these reviews speak for themselves. This place should be shut down.

Northeast dermatology is a very thorough dermatology practice. Dr. McKelvey always takes his time with me and has wonderful bedside manner. The whole staff at the practice is friendly and organized. I highly recommend Northeast dermatology to anyone looking for a new dermatologist.

I was misdiagnosed for years, and it took many appointments and a switch in doctors to figure out the correct medication for me. Once I had the correct medication, it was nearly impossible to get it refilled. The office staff is extremely difficult to work with- it took months to get a prior authorization form filled out for insurance, and even when they told me it was filled out it either wasn't, or was sent to the incorrect pharmacy or insurance company. It was like a full time job to talk on the phone every day to get it sorted out to 4 different specialty pharmacies, the doctors office, and my insurance company. I have been lied to over the phone and face to face about whether or not forms were completed over the years. The final straw was when I found a new dermatologist and asked to have my medical records transferred that I was told they would charge me per page to fax my records to my new doctor. I would never recommend this practice to anyone.
