Northstar Cafe in Beechwold, Columbus OH

You order everything at the counter you pay and they bring the food. I ordered the chicken sandwich and fries which were delicious. I also ordered the green smoothie which was the best smoothie I've had.

This was my first time visiting this location with a friend I’d give everyone there over 5 stars! Sage was sooooo nice thank you for the pickles!

I got the pimento cheeseburger and it was amazing! Great experience and lovely atmosphere. I will definitely return!

Always a great experience at Northstar Cafe. Quality food, great service and an excellent menu.

Great experience, super friendly service, consistent food experience. My favorites are the sweet potato hash, mushroom frittata, Beechwold salad, and the smoothie bowl but there isn't a bad item on the menu.

I came here with a friend for a work meeting and lunch. They have a system where you order at the counter and then you get a large card to get served (you seat yourself).

The food came fairly quickly and everything was good- love all the vegetables and the salad was well tossed in the dressing. I also had the green smoothie, which I'd recommend.

I got a cookie and mason jar carrot cake to go. So far, the chocolate chip cookie is delicious.

I didn't really like the way things were organized at the counter for people to stand in line. I think it can get a little congested.

The server was great, friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. I like that the booths have a lot of privacy, so even if there are a lot of people around, it's good for staying focused on your table.

I would come again!

North Star Burger is one of the best vegetarian burgers you can try in Columbus. And their salad is next level, always fresh greens with tasty dressing.

The Buddha Bowl is absolutely delicious. The restaurant and restrooms were clean. The workers were warm, greeting us as soon as we walked in.

I’ve gone here for years and never had a bad experience. The food is good every single time if you’re visiting the area or have never been here. I highly recommend going here.

It's a nice place with really expensive food. It's basically self service like a McDonald's, but tipping is expected.

I went to brunch on Sunday for a first date. It was awesome! Delicious food and excellent service!

Northstar was always one of my favs for any occasion. NOW, its gonna be that one in a while, special treat.
A lot has changed. And although I very much enjoyed the food and sitting out on an attractive patio on a beautiful afternoon, other factors cancel that out.
Such as:
~ Overpriced [gone from Café to Upscale casual dining Café]
~ They don't accept cash (so u wind up spending more)
~ Counter service but snub you if you don't leave a 20% tip.
At the Beechwold location I would recommend just about any food item on the menu, deserts, cookies, etc.
The mushroom frittata came with a side argula salad & delicious potatoe wedges.
My friend got a $20 classic cheeseburger. When you added in our 2 non-alcoholic drinks the bill was over $55, + tip mind you, at a "Café. "
The atmosphere is unquestionably lovely. Soft ambient or jazz music, natural wood and comfortable indoor & outdoor seating.
The staff are helpful, attentive and courteous. You can find convenient parking in the rear that serves the strip of stores in that block. During busier times (Jenni's ice cream is next door) there is the option to park on the surrounding streets.
Northstar was 1 of my most favorite places for healthy, casual dining. Consistent food quality, etc. No complaints there. Except, I asked my friend, "How's your? " She had nvr been there before so I wondered what she thought. It was and a generous sized portion.
But was it a $20 burger good?
NO. NOT REALLY. It was certainly sticker shock when we walked in to order. There isn't a menu item for less than $17-18.

I luv their food but they have definitely become an upscale, foo-foo, bourgeoisie eatery. I'm pretty sure you could find some fine dining in the city where you'd feel spending $50-$65 on a meal to be deserving. If you're going to charge $20 for a "Classic Cheeseburger" I'd expect for it to be served w/crumbled blue cheese, goat cheese or on a silver platter.
I am fully aware things are more expensive. I'm also aware that there are different grades of ground beef. But, the burger is HUGE. It's really 2 in 1.
Also, if I had to guess, the higher prices prbly support decent hrly wages for the staff & operating costs.
It was just a bit shocking to look at the menu where I used to go enjoy time with friends all for abr $15. And that's if I ordered a drink, desert, and a meal.

Nothing against Northstar. I guess they are catering to a different kind of crowd now.

Exceptional as always. Worth the calories and cost every time. Healthy and quality ingredients with a beautiful presentation.

Holy pretentiousness. $18 for a sandwich? No wonder they thought they could steal from their employees after robbing customers every day.

I've never had a bad dish there. Coffee is great and they do a brisk business. Staff are always super helpful and very professional. Great variety of dishes and their brunch is on point.

The food is always fresh and healthy. Their prices, like everywhere, have gone up over the last year. However, with the fresh ingredients and tasty combination, it's still a great experience and wonderful food. The chicken sandwich is unique in Columbus and a great combination of contrasting yet complimenting flavors.

We went for Brunch. My son wanted the aoli with his breakfast potatoes/fries. He was told they do not offer that at Brunch (a condiment?). Within 10/15 min a staff worker was eating at the table next to us, her friend brought her food to her table and said I got the aoli out of the fridge because I know how much you like it. When is it not a priority to go out of the way for a customer (making a trip to the fridge) but for a co-worker it's normal? ! I am disappointed where the service industry is going. WE HAVE BEEN GOING TO North Star for years. (weekly). The service has always been so good but recently it has been less than desirable.

The veggie burger is as good as everyone says it is, and I don't even like beets. Can't wait to go back and have it again.
