Oakes Quarry Park reviews
14Place is BEAUTIFUL. Nearly secluded, there's never an excess of other people. Great for bird watching, hiking, chilling, driving RC trucks, and drone flying.
I really like this quarry. There is a lot to explore. Definitely not the tidiest park (there's a small amount of litter throughout, and a ton of graffiti in places) but it really is a fun place to visit!
It's hardly ever been crowded when I have visited. Also I believe there is a port-a-potty in the parking lot, which is nice. I can't vouch for its cleanliness though.
It's okay for a more flat terrain hike but not the place of you're looking for more of a challenge or if you're looking for more of a nature walk.
Great hiking place with lots of little details to find. My only complaint is many of the signs are not kept up or are covered in grafiti, especially over near the fossil area.
Favorite place in Dayton. It's magical and the best sunset you can find around here. Walk all the way to the back by sunset and see the best view. So beautiful.
Very interesting place. Very large, pay attention to your surroundings or you will get lost! Alot to see!
Really nice place to walk around, get your steps in & adventure around. There are little ponds around with lots of frogs & tadpoles. You can wade around in them. Bring your dog. The only that that stinks is there aren't very many trees around for shade in the dug out quarry, plenty around up a bit higher, so if it's warm & sunny, try to go prepared & with some sunscreen & water. Found lots of smaller fossils, so that was fun for my kiddo
Plenty of people and dogs there but enough space you can find your own little area to be at. Lots of people taking pictures for senior pics and other things. Saw lots of wildlife like a snake and tadpoles and different kinds of birds. Some of the water is so clear you can see straight to the bottom.
Beautiful place to walk your pup. I don’t know about the leash laws but it’s terrible rounding a corner and seeing peoples guard dogs off leash. I just have a 1 year old pup who can’t really defend herself. Besides peoples lack of concern, it’s a great place.
Nice long walking trails and open areas with scenic lakes and cat tails. You do have to ignore the road noise.
I didn't go very deep in this Park, but it was very unique and interesting. Seemed to be very large with many side paths to look into.
Great open space that I recently visited twice in the last few weeks.
Hiking and walking trails are great.
Nice place to hike. Unfortunately didn't make it to the fossil part. Needs some trail markers. Their is bridal trails.
Open, easy trails great for adults and kids alike. Just remember to bring plenty of water!
