Our 8-year-old is greatly enjoying learning Taekwondo, and has such respect and adoration for Sensei Hurtsellers, as do we. It's hard to explain how great this dojo is without sounding like I joined a cult so I'll break it down into two parts.

First, the physical training aspect is fantastic. You learn the basics of martial arts movements and then use those building blocks to move on to combinations and rolls. I was a novice starting off and after a few months I can feel myself picking up on the proper form and function quickly. This is due much in part to the way the dojo operates. The higher belts are paired the new people and lower belts here. Every person who I have trained with has helped me immensely and taken their time to make sure I get the moves down right.

The second part of the dojo that makes it particularly special is the mental aspect. Sensei Hurtsellers puts a large emphasis on meditation, thought, and emotional control. I initially was looking for a dojo to train me in self defense and yet, since I've been coming here, I've noticed a decided change in my every day mental thought processes. Between the meditation guidance, lessons at the end of class, and the overall mentality of everyone here, I've found myself feeling more positive throughout my days and looking at problems and difficult situations differently.

If you come for the martial arts, you'll learn a lot and have a great environment to do so. If you're looking for a place to find some peace in your life, you're at the right place as well. Ohio Martial Arts is a place where your children can be themselves while learning how to focus their mind and body as well as build their confidence. My family has had a wonderful experience. The overall moral energy within the Dojo is very welcoming and the sensei’s go far and beyond with all of the children and parents in making sure that it’s a comfortable and safe environment. I recently enrolled my daughter at this karate dojo and I am very impressed with the quality of instruction and the sense of community that the dojo provides. As a former student of the same sensei, I knew that my daughter would be in good hands, but I am still amazed by the level of skill and expertise that the sensei brings to each class.

My daughter just received her white belt and she is already showing great enthusiasm for developing her skills further in this program. The instructors are patient and encouraging with the kids, and they do a great job of making each class both fun and challenging.

One of the things I appreciate most about this dojo is the emphasis on character development and respect. The sensei teaches the kids not just how to perform the physical movements of karate, but also how to behave with integrity and honor.

So far it has been such a great experience with Ohio Martial Arts! The sensei’s are all very encouraging as well as the other kids and teens in the class. It was very welcoming from the moment we walked in the door! Would highly recommend.

This is hands down one of the top Martial Arts Dojo's in North West Ohio! I started here when I was in Kindergarten and practiced for 14 years of my life until just after high school. This is also where I met my ex-wife where she practiced for many years as well! We just recently signed our youngest son up and he ABSOLUTELY loves it! Seeing what the Dojo has transformed into over the years since I first started to now is so awesome! For anyone looking to get into Martail Arts I highly recommend the Ohio Martial Arts school! Such an amazing environment and walking in and seeing a smile on Sensi's face every single day is exactly what makes this school what it is and has become! If you ever want to sign up as am adult or even as a child this is the best environment for a workout. Not just physical but mentally as well! This Dojo offers so much more than Martial Arts and self defense. Highly suggested for anyone interested in mental self discipline and an amazing environment for their kids to have a positive after school extra correctlier activity hands down!

My three boys: 17,8, & 6 are new to Ohio Martial Arts. Enrolling them into this Dojo was one of the best decision I have ever made. The instructors have been absolutely outstanding! My kids walk into the Dojo with such excitement and anticipation to learn and leave with their heads held high, filled with life lessons of self-value and respect. This dojo has done an extremely good job making my son (4 yrs) feel welcomed from the beginning. The instructors do a great job keeping the kids engaged, and excited for the next exercise. Looking forward to many more years to come.

My son absolutely loves coming to class. His confidence is already improving. Sensei was so welcoming with open arms when we first arrived. The teachers are phenomenal with kids! I love the overall atmosphere and philosophy! Highly recommend!

Best decision we made for our son! They have improved his self confidence, respect, focus etc… He is so completely interested in this art and keeps up with what he is taught.
