I'm not sure if the people that work here ever had to do hair in a salon setting and provide customer service to the public but the way I was just treated when I called with a question would tell me NOT. I called worry a couple of questions not only was she rude she barley even let me get the questions out of my mouth before trying to finish me sentences for me. I was scammed out of money by the 3rd party service they chose touse and she had 0 compassion. It's horrible to try and call for help and the person you speak to has no will or desire to help you at all. So disappointed in Ohio state board.

So-called customer service is useless and not to be disturbed. Apparently, they do not send out renewal reminders anymore. Being told to complete a process on their website is not helpful, when all details are not available. Even the recordings are rude!

Well 1st off I’ll like to say I’m from a state that holds the most trophies in barber battle. You guys have the highest hours and no talent coming out of Ohio.change the hours because regardless your state is garbage when it comes to cutting hair just saying ‍️ You need at least 1250 hours not freaking 1,8andsomething stop it and be realistic.

Barbers pay $113 for a printed piece of paper now for a license? We used to have nice thick cards that went into our graduation plaques with our names on it! Now we have to cut out a cheap piece of printed paper? What is going on with this place!? Bring back the barber board!

I called today because I couldn't access the ce/broker training. I'm asking questions to why this is I was interrupted yelled at and then hung up on not to mention my return calls where disregarded. Whoever this women was she was very disrespectful and unprofessional for her to get so irate over a few questions clearly states she is unfit for her job. Remove her immediately. Clearly the Barber Board should have remained the overseer for the Barber community. Very disappointed.

Your website is trash, just like your whole operation. What is the point of your existence? Be less worthless.

They force us to take continuing education classes if you're under 65 years of age or have under 30 years of barbering experience, what a racket because the old timers have the dirtiest shops. I called and tried to become exempt from taking the courses because I identify as a 70 year old. Their lawyer Jared told me I had to jump through all these hoops, mqking it virtually impossible. As a 28 year old who identifies as a 70 year old I feel like they discriminate against us senior citizens. It sickens me to my core. I'm shook, literally shaking rn and have started seeing a therapist because the ohio state barber and cosmetology board has given me PTSD, they fail to identify me as I truly am.
As a non binary genderfluid trans I am afraid to even go into their building, if they clearly won't allow me to be exempt from the course due to my age I fear they will address me with improper pronouns.

25+ years of barbering experience and now they want you to go back to school every 2 years and pay for it? Not worth it! If your dream is to become a barber, then consider doing it in another state, not here.

They pushed continued education for barbers when their doors were closed during the pandemic. No one could attend or fight against it. They kept their doors closed. The new board came in, they changed everything! I didn't go to school or graduate under this new board. You shouldn't have control over our license that were barbers before! Our schooling is much longer than a cosmetologist. I can't even imagine people who have been barbering for 20 years going back for classes every 2 years! This place has let all barbers down across Ohio! We have a petition against this and they closed their doors for an entire year and wouldn't let barbers speak up against this! There is supposed to be 3 barbers BY LAW on the board making decisions. There is 1! I won't be surprised if people fight against this. Unreal.

State board came into my place of work as they do when it is time to routine checks, I had taking the appropriate ce hours both laws, rules, and sanitation. For some reason my ce hours never transferred. Same with my fiancé, we both took the appropriate ce hours and his did the same. So she came in yesterday and was nice enough to help me but even though both my fiancé and I took our ce hours before the expired date she still charged a late fee cause I never paid the board on time. Which I feel like shouldn’t be my fault. My documents show I took my test January 3rd, way before July. I tried to have her help me with his since he was not working…she said he had to be there. And said that she would charge him a fine if caught working. Which I understand and she gave me her direct number if I needed help. My fiancé I tried to figure the situation before calling her. His account said he didn’t not have any of his ce hours done which is a lie, I have screen shots of payment and tests that he has done. She still has yet to call me back.

I was confused on how I recieve my license number but she got a attitude and said " you know what give me one minute " then she hung up on me. Not friendly customer service with an attitude when I was only attempting to get clarification on how to get an license number

I transferred from a Cosmetology program to nail tech and these people took almost half of my hours because "Cosmetology hours clock differently ". We literally were a combined class of nail techs and cos students and for 200 hours we did THE EXACT SAME THING. We didn't do anything other than nails for 200 hours. But almost 100 of my hours, the board would not transfer to the nail tech program and so instead of graduating the 1st of September like I was supposed, I'm in a class by myself until the end of September, with well over 200 hours on my clock.

Don’t even give you time to say anything when they pick up. They immediately put you on hold and never get around around to getting back with you! I was on hold for forever just to ask a simple question. Ridiculous
