I received Joey as a referral originally from a family member who could not tell me ENOUGH great things about Joey and his abilities. I went in for basic training, but realized myself and Roxy (Doberman) would best benefit from TOTAL COURSE.
The training process is a major commitment for you and the dog, as well as for Joey. His time is valuable so BE SERIOUS, and ready to put in work. The evaluation process is 2-sided as he is evaluating YOU and your dogs as much as he is being evaluated as a trainer. DO NOT call for an evaluation until you read every section of his web site and pass the quiz. This intensity might turn off? However, for me personally it showed his dedication and his passion.
At our first visit with Joey, I was not expecting to leave with Roxy responding to voice commands. To my surprise she was RESPONDING! She was sitting, fun on voice command. Depending on the training program you select (I RECOMMEND THE TOTAL COURSE) you can expect your dog to obey all commands by using hand signals and whispers. Joey teaches your dog by using only HUMANE methods and by gaining the respect of the dog. Your dog will sit, stay, lie down, come, heel, fun and “potty” on command. You can expect these commands performed NEAR or FAR utilizing WHISPER or HAND COMMANDS.
You get what you pay for AND MUCH MORE! Biggest TWO differences between OSK9 and several other options that I researched are:
*One-on-one training with me, Roxy, and Joey (group lessons). Results are guaranteed for the life of the dog, so you can always go back for refreshers if problem behaviors arise. We are going back because I have been out of the country and needed a refresher.
*Joey teaches MASTERS. Beyond the actual training, Joey also taught ME a ton about grooming nutrition, and equipment, and has even provided boarding for BEYOND fair price which also INCLUDES training refresher.
The cost is substantial but not doing it could've cost infinitely more given the damage that the dog could cause without proper training.

I take Roxy to the park or anywhere and give her ANY command at several hundred feet away from me, and she obeys on the first command EVERY single TIME. I highly recommend Joey to anyone who can COMMIT to the process, required homework, and dedicate/invest time and energy.

Makes a big difference in how you enjoy and protect your pet. My dog Porter is my running buddy. People alway comment how well behaved he is and kids are not afraid of him. He is a guard dog but not a pain to the UPS man.
His training was worth the money. Thanks Joey.

I would advise against using this trainer. I had a very uncomfortable phone conversation with him. Frankly, I hung up the phone feeling afraid of this man. I felt that he barely asked any questions about my dog or my current level of training. Instead, he touted his own success stories. I felt that he was speaking in an aggressive tone. I felt that it was almost impossible to get a word in. He seemed more concerned with showing his own dominance and success than learning about my problem and discussing my options. I felt that he was demeaning each time I attempted to speak. And he repeatedly insulted the trainer I chose to use for basic obedience (even after I repeatedly told him that I had a wonderful experience with this trainer, and left his care with the utmost respect). Side note: he was not familiar with who this trainer was. When I asked about training methods, I felt that he became increasingly agitated, suggesting that it was not his responsibility to explain himself. At this point, I chose to leave the conversation.
