Online Liquidation Auction reviews
20Overall experience was ok, but when you drive around back, there are no lights in the parking lot at all. It was pitch dark and with many people pushing loaded carts of goods, it's hard to see them. There should be atleast a few portable parking lot lights there for safety.
You can find some real good stuff for some really good prices. Customer service has always been solid to date but I’m new to OLA so need bigger sample size. It’s a 3 star because of the few items I’ve gotten so far one said “like new” and was missing parts. Another was shown as one thing and ended up being the cheaper model. The return of the missing pieces item wasn’t too bad, just inconvenient. The lesser quality item was still a good price just not nearly the deal I was expecting and got an inferior item. The last thing is the on-site customer service of the employees working is next to non-existent, like factor workers on an assembly line not wanting any interaction. Just get your stuff and go mentality for them.
Great place for bargains. Difficult to hear inside so get a good spot to listen for your name.
I have purchased so many items from here that are described as NEW or OPENED LIKE NEW that were broken beyond the point of being usable or missing needed pieces. If they were honest about the contents I would consider shopping here again. The way it’s been recently, it’s a ripoff.
Bought a table that had a picture of a different, more expensive, table. Ended up spending a few dollars more than if I got it new off of Amazon.
Disgusting place. Stay away.
Scheduled pick up at 10: 30 PM!
The warehouse is closed at that time.
Mainly used and returned items, inaccurately described, deceiving practices, 30% in additianal fees on purchases.
Impossible to return.
Unreachable support!
Update on 11/10
And ag again, your reply does not help me reach support.
I have contacted support during normal business hours on 5 occasions unsuccessfully.
Nobody answers the phone.
You don't have support!
I love their auction, but I recently won an item that was open box (used). I picked up the item and brought it home. When removing the packaging, it was obviously broken with broken glass and broken plastic parts. I contacted customer service through email and they approved a return since it should have been labeled salvage. Five stars up to this point. My problem is that a few auctions later, the same item was back on auction with the same description for another person to win and return.
Someone described this place as a casino and I couldn’t agree more. You will mostly lose money, but occasionally find a real gem in great condition, possibly unused, for a fraction of its retail price, and that’s what will hook you and keep you coming back time and time again despite getting hosed at least half of the time.
After spending over a few thousand here, and keeping careful track of items and sales, I will tell you in the end I’ve lost literally hundreds due to be overly trusting and naive and going all in when I first started buying from here.
In the last six months:
I’ve bought two printers, sold as new, that actually ended up being broken.
I bought a Harry Potter Lego set, sold to me as new, that it turned out was missing two bags of parts.
I bought a bottle filling machine, sold to me as like new, that was missing parts, including its operating pedal, rendering it completely useless.
A robot vacuum cleaner, sold to me as new, that had obviously been used and even had clumps of hair in it.
An arcade basketball game, sold as like new, and is missing an entire leg.
A lightening phone charger, sold to me as like new, where the actual charger had been replaced with an old outdated charger. (I’m more understanding on this one, as the returner was obviously trying to pull a fast one here and that’d be easier to miss since there was a charger in the box)
A record player, sold to me as new, that does not function at all.
A stand, sold as like new, that was missing all of the parts except the flat top.
A Mark Roberts figurine, sold to me as new, with a piece broken off, devaluing it completely
A cookware set, sold to me as new, with a shattered lid. Glass all over everything.
And this is all that comes to mind right now,
I’m sure I’m forgetting some.
Their pictures are a joke. Often it’s just a picture of a box, which tells me nothing about the actual state of the item. Most of these things you won’t catch the problem until you’ve left the property and can’t return it.
It’s not practical, but if you do buy from them I’d 1.) be prepared to get on your hands and knees in the parking lot to go through every single box and check contents or you’re going to get screwed.
2.) Don’t buy anything that you can’t somehow test in the parking lot.
Or 3.) set your max bid assuming that anything you buy will be broken or missing parts
4.) If you are reselling, even if it looks good at a glance, assemble or make sure everything it’s supposed to come with is accounted for and/or test test test, or expect your returns to go way up and your reviews to go way down.
I personally am pretty much done with OLA outside of things that can’t be broken or are easy to get parts for - you can learn to play the game, and what kind of things are safe to bid on.
Like, I got a great deal on a rug and some weight plates. Those can’t really be broken or missing parts, but even with great deals on things like that, it would take me quite awhile to recover what I’ve lost from buying from them to begin with.
Also, be aware that now there is also a $2 per item fee IN ADDITION TO a premium, which really might be the last straw at this point. Even knowing what to stay away from now, it will be hard for the benefits to outweigh the costs.
Unlike others, I think the new app is great, but if that’s the price, along with all of the other aforementioned issues, it’s going to be hard to justify any future purchases.
This place is very organized now and you walk up to check in with your QR code and they grab your items and wheel them out to you.
It probably only spent about 5mins here to pick up my merchandise.
My family and friends order from here all the time, but with the increase in percentage that you take and now an extra 2 dollars extra per item I paid more than I would have for brand new from Amazon with delivery. I spent 51 dollars and cost me 80 because of all the fees. That’s over 25 percent of charge for things that are mostly used broke missing pieces. Even the items that are marked new are barely ever new. Like I said, I understand making money but that’s absolutely ridiculous. A one dollar item is now five dollars after you pay all the charges and fees. You just lost 10 customers over these new implemented fees.
It's important to address the communication issue at the online liquidation auction. Employees with thick accents were often drowned out by the noise of carts, leading to confusion among customers. During my visit, many of us found ourselves asking each other, "What did they say? " This communication barrier needs to be improved for a smoother experience during the auctions.
OLA has been a recent addiction but after paying over $50 for some Babyliss Pro flat irons that looked dingy, beat up and faded. I’m now nervous about making more purchases. The description stated “Open Box; Like New” but did not reflect the true condition of the item. They look like a person used them for years. Not cool.
I bid on an item that was improperly labeled and with their no return policy I am unable to do anything about it. I purchased a “like new” air mattress which according to their policy only means damage to the box not the product itself. We opened up the box and there was a huge hole in the mattress that it looked like somebody tried to repair. This was not shown in the pictures and this product should have been labeled as “damaged” but it was not. I wasted my money and time getting this item.
BEWARE! WITH THE NEW APP THE FEES ARE RIDICULOUS! YOU WILL BE PAYING OVER 50% THAN WHAT IT WAS PREVIOUSLY! NOT WORTH IT!
The new app is horrible. It is the least user friendly app i have used.it keeps showing me items from stow location even after filtering it out of search. Bidding from PC browser is no longer an option, which was the most convenient way for me. I have gotten a lot of stuff from OLA, but now i will be looking for different auction
Just got a rug scrubber that doesn't work. They told me I can return it for a credit but no cash refunds.
I have to echo others that said with the new app and increase in auction fees as well as the $2 item fee, the cost savings that this app used to be is gone. It was worth risking an item not working or the long wait time for pick up, when the price was right. It’s not worth it anymore. I understand costs have increased, but it’s just not worth the risk of getting an item that is more damaged than you wanted or doesn’t work. Might as well pay full price for new or catch a sale that would come in cheaper.
With the new APP $2 Per auction fee, my bill which would have been less than $35 for 28 items was now almost $100. Over 62% ($55) of my bill was for FEES. More and more auctions are not listed correctly, are broken or missing pieces, and suddenly can't be found on pickup. Service is tanking and the fees are ridiculous. Not worth it anymore. When they do make a listing mistake, they have never given me an issue getting a refund.but thats more time out of my day to return an item I never would've bid on in the first place. With a 62% cost increase, they should come to my house to pick it up instead of having to go back there.
They have some deals. The people that check the items don't check to see if all parts are there or if it even works and they don't take items back. They will list them as like new or open box so buyer beware.
