I started my process with OOD in mid June of 2023. Here it is mid December 2023 and I am no closer to my original goal with the exception of the time and efforts that I personally put in. This time that I have spent with OOD has been a waste of my time and Ohio tax payers dollars.
If, which I doubt, OOD would like specifics of why this is my opinion. I would be more than obliging to enlighten then.

COMPLETELY SUCKS! THEY ARE LAZY WORKERS AND INSTEAD OF BEING SUPPORTIVE WITH YOUR CHOICE OF CAREER PATH. THEY GIVE YOU EVERY REASON THAT YOU WILL FAIL! THE VENDORS GO THE CHEAP ROUTE (LIKE GRABBING BROKEN DOWN CHAIRS FROM THE DUMPSTER) RENT A BUILDING AND GIVE THE MOST RATCHET ANCIENT "TRAINING"IF YOU ARE A PERSON OF COLOR PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT THEY DONT TELL YOU! BECAUSE REALLY THEY WANT TO EEE YOU CLEANING TOILETS AND BARELY GETTING ANY MONEY TO SAVE, IF YOU WRITE YOUR OWN BUSINESS PLAN THEY WILL TELL YOU THAT WHOEVER LOOKS AT IT WILL NOT OK IT, THESE (MOSTLY WOMEN) ARE PUT IN THESE POSITIONS TO DISCOURAGE PEOPLE OF COLOR FROM BETTERING THEIR LIVES. GO SEE FOR YOURSELF, ESPECIALLY BLACK PEOPLE!

I have been talking with the OOD for months and they haven't helped me find a job or anything! Complete waste of time, They only care about getting government funding to fatten their own pockets!

Was recommended to them by a disability lawyer. Needed help with finding work after still currently dealing with injuries after the aftermath of a car accident. Had an interview with an agent during the end of March and was told that my medical records were gonna be examined before I'm contacted by a different agent. Here it is getting close to may and several calls made to check for updates, NOTHING

Haven't even had my meeting yet with them and can already tell they are going to be of no help. Nasty attitudes over the phone while setting up a meeting. But then what do you expect from a govt agency.

My daughter contacted this organization 2 weeks ago. The web site said they would contact her within 3 business days. Nothing. Shame on your for letting people with disabilities, who want to work, down What a worthless organization. If you are paid at all, you are overpaid.

They provided me with help for education on the career I wanted. Unfortunately, people want 2+ years work experience to hire. It was what would have helped me with being isolated since past and current issues with coworkers doesn't get resolved. I had to give up my certificate. I'm getting help with applications for positions that would put me in the front line of customer service for the 3 years I've been a client with OOF. This won't help. I've been upset with every meeting and there's lack of encouragement that there will be something more in the background of healthcare. This makes me feel worse that there really isn't any help. I've done my part and had to let it go. All the hard work. I've dealt with the worst job coaches through this and the attitudes are awful. This doesn't help a person with depression. I'd rather hear that they can't help me than to deal with the disappointment and negative attitudes.

I feel like my request for compassionate allowance has not been handled appropriately, I have no way to pay my rent or get food until my SNAP card arrives next week. They had me wait a month before informing me I could schedule my own mental health assessment, which I completed within a week due to suicidal thoughts and impulses. I have left multiple messages for Supervisor Dan but I can never actually talk to him. It seems like no matter what number I call I can never speak with anyone to get my issue resolved. My ability to work kept me sane, and now all I can do is wait in my house all day checking my ssa account and leaving messages that go unanswered.

OOD has provided me crucial support for the past 5 years. They provided me bus passes, helped me finish my college degree, and help me obtain an accessible vehicle. Most importantly, they helped me land a 6 month apprenticeship that led to fulltime employment, and a promotion shortly after.

All the staff is friendly and encouraging. My case manager, Mary Massie was especially exceptional. She went above and beyond to help me throughout my journey. She was responsive and supportive of all my career choices.

If you are a person with a disability and are considering obtaining employment, I highly encourage you to team up with Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities. They will provide you support and accommodations & a wealth of knowledge to make you successful in your job and career.

The educational materials and tools I found to promote inclusion through disability awareness, etiquette, and supports are phenomenal! Thank you so much!
