Prems Chennai Delight reviews
21I got paneer Tikka biryani. All paneer pieces are roasted to black and Masala in biryani is made with ginger paste which is not cooked well. Biryani tasted like raw ginger paste.
Water is served in styrofoam glass. That’s a big no for me. At an Indian restaurant, the least you expect is your water served in a steel glass.
Good thing-
They are short staffed and wait times are longer. Restaurant acknowledges this fact and has written it on a board at the entrance.
As a consumer and first time visitor at this place, the first board helped lessen the anguish for slow service
Their prices are higher than what they were in the past. This fact is also acknowledged and is highlighted on a board. This seems like a stretch. No one’s asking for justification, why do you wanna explain yourself for something that’s just common sense.
Coming to the food part, Idlis were the best. Vada that we had was super oily, not something you’d expect at a South Indian restaurant. Dosa and chutneys were upto the mark. Overall good food but there’s huge scope for improvement from service standpoint.
Waiters were good at communication but please pay them enough so that they can afford to get some nice clothes and haircut for being decently presentable.
Very worst food i ever had these like food. Too much of food color & oil. Waste of money.
Very Rude service. Their Tikka masala is straight from hell. Watery as if it got drenched in roof juices and it tasted disgusting. I wonder if they went catching fish and chickens after taking our order. The wait time was about 2 hours or more. When we asked to hurry they gave a weird reply sounded like wait or leave. Not going to this place again. They are too pricy for the quality of food they give. Very disappointed and hurt.
Excellent chicken biriyani (ambur style - a place in tamilnadu).
A bit pricey, but worth the money. Usually opens in the afternoon around 12 pm. Place an order over phone, as it can take some time to prepare the biriyani. Dine in ambience is just ok, most of the orders are take out.
1 Biriyani is mostly good enough for 2 people.
Great food an atmosphere. The staff was friendly and the service was great.
One note. If you like spicy food and you are lighter skinned get delivery so you get the full spice.
We picked up the Curry Chicken and the Chili Chicken. The Curry Chicken smelled great, but it had tiny bone shards in the curry. The Chili Chicken looked and tasted a lot like Buffalo sauce with some Indian spices added, and it only had a few small bits of onion and pepper thrown in.
Waiting time is too much in this restaurant. Food is also not fresh in this restaurant. Definitely not recommended.
The food was delicious I can give 5 for the food mutton biryani was too good. But, the people in the front desk (one girl) was very rude. One girl who is serving the food, she is literally throwing the food on the table and not friendly. They mentioned that they increased the prices, but it is too much. In addition to that they charge extra for additional raitha but, they are giving raitha initially was only 2 ozns. That doesn't make any sense.
Low quality but high price.
I bought paneer butter masala.
Not worth the money
Owner madam is very good person. She takes good care of everyone there. Food is always 5 star. There might be wait times but Good food is always worth the wait. I wish there were better responses for ppl who gave one star reviews. They seem to be little arrogant but apart from that this place is a gem. Hidden gem I would say. Best Tamil based indian restaurant in USA. I wish they open more branches across the country.
Food 4/5
Customer service 1/5
04/30/2022. I used to drive from Columbus to Dayton just to meet my friends and eat here. Food is really good here, but in recent days the customer service is becoming worse. I wish they were better.
Overatted, not worth the hefty price you pay at the end.be prepared for long wait times.not a good experience & won't recommend.wish there was response button, to respond owners feedback.
Worst service ever. The Staff is very disrespectful with customers. Waiting time is too long like around one to one and half hour.
Good food but terrible service
12.00 - Called to reserve table for 4 adults and 2 kids and preordered food. Restaurant called back 3 times to confirm the order details.
1.20 - delayed by 20 mins. Table was reserved for only 4 and no arrangements were done for 2 of us. Informed the front desk and she said she will check and get back
1.52 - No updates yet. Checked with the owner about the status of tables. She was making arrangements for the table for new guests. She responded in aggression saying that they are still cooking food and there is no concept of pre order here. They cook food only after guests arrived. After this they asked the people from our adjacent table to move over and joined the table for us and started bring the food.
2.20 - last order was delivered.
We can totally understand the confusion about reservation, but the staff could have responded in a different way. It does not make sense to take preorder if they can’t make the food ready.
In future, we will order food for carry out and not dine in.
A good smile would have changed our experience.
By far the worst Indian food I have ever had, the curry had a thick layer of grease on top, chicken was clearly old and mealy, absolute waste of money! Not to mention I was ignored for nearly five minutes while the worker finished talking with a table near by, then was incredibly rude and short with me when I was paying for the ridiculously over priced meal. She even decided instead of ringing me up she was going to answer the phone and take another 5 minutes to take that persons order. Will NEVER go back.
We had special dosa and chicken curry, Fried chicken briyani and Egg kothu paratha. We really enjoyed the food as it was so authentic and yummy. Kindly note that you might have a long wait time for them to serve your food. But it is worth waiting.
Amazing food, just takes a while to come out.
Plates are stainless steel in typical Indian fashion, and cups are styrofoam.
Edit: Multiple servers frequently interrupted checking us out after making us wait several minutes in order to take other customer orders over phone calls. Dropping two stars.
Food is good, but if ordering takeout, make sure to order 1.5 hours prior to when you want the food, because it does take a while.
DONT NOT ORDER HERE UNLESS YOU HAVE ANOTHER HOUR TO SPEND WAITING! Have ordered from this place 3 times and every time I have had to wait an additional 15-25 minutes. Today when I order I had to wait an additional 30-45 minutes on top of what they had told me. When I asked the manager if there was any sort of compensation for wasting my time she just shrugged it off like it was a normal thing. Just order from Amar India or India Chaat cafe, don't waste your time.
Response to the Owner:
Clearly you don't know what happened. I didn't not ask for free anything, I ask for a discount as I was told it would be an ADDITIONAL 30 minutes from what was told me on the phone. After waiting more than 30 minutes, I'd say 40-45 minutes I was finally given my food. You ask why do I order here when I know there is a wait, when you tell customers you have the shortest wait time compared to other restaurants and then hold them up another 40 minutes that's rude and inconsiderate. I understand if it's once or twice thing but this happens often. I was willing to give y'all the benefit of the doubt but clearly you don't know how to properly run a business nor take criticism. Grow up.
