Rio Pro BrazilianJiu Jitsu reviews
5Great place to train for any age and any skill level. Top notch instruction in a friendly, safe, training environment. I hadn't trained for a few years and I'm very happy that I chose this school for my return to the mats.
I posted a review a few months ago and it never went public. So I am trying again. My son had a traumatic experience at Rio Pro, where the childrens' instructor Alex banned our son after the second class because of his "attitude" and that he didn't get a tissue right away when Alex asked him to when he saw our son's nose was running. Our son's attitude wasn't great during the first class. He was much better the second class but he was "louder" than the other kids and didn't get the tissue right away. When my husband asked Alex if he would reconsider banning our son for 6 months, Alex yelled and threatened my husband and pointed his finger at him. Our son cried when he heard he was kicked out of the class and said if he knew that would be the result, he would have gotten the tissue right away. To be fair, the other 2 instructors in the class were much nicer. We found a new Jiu Jitsu home for our son at another studio. I am sure this is a good place to learn if you are compliant from the get go, but it wasn't a good fit for our son.
Could not be happier with instructors, staff, and lessons. Originally signed up my then 7 year old to try a Saturday class. He has never done any combative style sports so I didn’t know what to expect. He IMMEDIATELY was made to feel like a valuable member of the team and he had a blast. He loves it. He’s 8 and we just signed his 6 year old brother up. They love it. It is challenging and fun. Alex, Casey, and Barrett truely care about their students and it shows. Apologize for missing a couple instructors!
Now for the adults…. Fantastic place to train. I have never trained jujitsu before but have wrestled for years and have a 1st degree in taekwondo. Professor Ante is wonderful. Caring, knowledgeable, and I love his jokes. He presents the skills in a way to make them click. He’s always encouraging and you look forward to improving each and every session. You can train hard here. But I’m older and banged up. Last place I needed in my current condition is a meat grinder of a gym. This is not a bunch of alphas destroying the new guy. Just the opposite. These alphas want to share and teach. And want you to be part of the family for the long haul. For years. For decades. Because that is what Rio Pro is…. FAMILY.
Awesome place, lots of fun! Schedule and location is great, teaching is top notch.
This review is long overdue. I trained at Rio Pro for the past two years, until recently, when I moved out of state. I was relatively new to jiu jitsu when I signed up. From day one, everyone at the gym made me feel welcome. The staff have cultivated a friendly and supportive atmosphere which has permeated to the membership. Whether your goal is to lose weight, learn a new skill or win medals, the staff and membership want to see you succeed. It is a great place for all skill levels. I highly recommend Rio Pro if you are looking to start your jiu jitsu journey.
