Sands Seafood and Sports Bar, Huber Heights OH

The food, service and atmosphere was on point. I definitely recommend Sands seafood and sports bar in Huber heights.

I wasn't expecting to find a taste of NOLA in my backyard. Wow were we pleasantly surprised. They were a little crowded but it didn't feel like it. The staff and owner worked together to make sure they answered our questions and got drinks to the table right away. We ordered the fried calamari where we looked over the menu. It was very good, almost too lightly battered and fried yet cooked to perfection. It wasn't chewy or slimy. But just right. The catfish was a huge portion over a healthy bed of rice and the gumbo topper was excellent. The catfish was very crispy yet still flakey. A special was the grouper which we tried as grilled with a blackened seasoning and fries, which were also seasoned. The grouper was also excellent and cooked just right with just enough flakiness yet enough firmness that it didn't fall apart with every bite. The other side we had was the sautéed spinach. It was also very good with almost an Asian restaurant flavor. Not sure how it could have been done slightly different to give it a southern flare. All in all it's an excellent place and we can't wait to go back again! Well done Sands.

We were wanting to try this place after seeing people rave about the food. Drove a half hour to get some fish and chips only to be told after we were drinking our beers (no draft) that they were out of fries! At 4: 25 on a Friday! Not happy at all. Heading to Slyders.

Listen if u love Captains D's good for you but let me talk to you this good food they have here is absolutely also the special sauce is a must with those shrimp spring rolls best good food worth the price and so delicious nuff said

Sands Seafood and Sports Bar owes us nothing! 10/10. The service was a little slow but the staff was kind and the perfection that came out that kitchen. Worth the wait.

Food was really good. I’ve made my visit on a Friday night and the establishment was very busy. There was a long wait on receiving food, but the service from staff was excellent

We ordered the swamp water catfish, sands specialty shrimp, shrimp spring rolls, and a side of coleslaw. That catfish dish was fantastic! So many great flavors. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and tasted great. The coleslaw was good. The shrimp spring rolls however seemed store bought, were soggy on the inside and had a freezer taste to them. As far as the service goes, they were slammed busy and understaffed. We figure that would be the case being they are only "soft opened" and we were prepared to wait for our food. The waitresses did a great job nevertheless. If they keep pushing food out like they did last night and add some more wait staff in there, this will for sure be a successful restaurant. The food is worth the wait.

Fast, friendly, and fresh! Second place to ever cook calamari right. I’ll definitely be heading back soon.

We dined in, the food is pretty good as well as the service. The low rating is because they have a server with very long nails, and got the bowl of clam chowder. When it was brought to me, and she set it on the table, her nail went in my soup down to the top of her thumb. Nothing was said to me, I just saw it happen. I asked for another bowl of chowder it was brought in two cup bowls, one of which had a deep chip in the rim of the cup and should have never been used. Never been anywhere else that badly damaged plate or bowl would not have been in the trash. Server's are not supposed to be serving food with nails like that for health reasons. Now I'm wondering about the condition of the kitchen area.

The food is phenomenal. The service is usually pretty good but can be hit or miss. The fish is cooked perfectly every time. The best I've ever had. The prices are good. Huge servings. It would be nice to have more options for side dishes. Maybe a salad. I've been here 5 times and I am looking forward to coming back. The best seafood joint around!

Sands became an INSTANT favorite for my husband and I! First of all, order.the.shrimp.appetizer. It’s been two days since we ate there and my husband is still talking about the shrimp

We take our seafood seriously and Sands did not disappoint! I ordered the crab cake and my husband ordered the Alfredo. Both meals were beyond delicious. The price and atmosphere were great. The service was phenomenal. We will be back asap!

I don’t know how this place is in Huber, but we’re so thankful and will do our part to make sure it stays!

My wife told me about this place and we have been absolutely dieing to go and we finally did tonight. Finding fresh good quality seafood in Ohio is extremely difficult but this place excelled. We got the boil F for 49.99 absolutely amazing was blown away by the garlic butter and had to get the spicy garlic butter to try on the side and it did not disappoint. The mussels shrimp and crab cluster were cooked to perfection. We also got a bowl of the gumbo and the flavor profile was perfect. I love how they go all in on the flavor allowing the customer to add what ever spice level they are comfortable with, it's definitely one of the top 3 gumbos I've had and it's definitely not number 3. I look forward to seeing this restaurant grow and see what all menu items will be added in the near future. If they add the option to order the mussels by the pound I'd probably be there every night. Again I can not wait to see what this place becomes the sky is definitely the limit and please please please let your cook know his gumbo tonight made you all atleast 2 customers for life!

Tisha our server was really friendly, went above & beyond to make our experience excellent. Myron the owner was very professional, respectful & passionate about Sands customer service. I highly recommend Sands seafood & sports bar. Y’all have to try their crab cakes, the salmon bites & crab fries. Everything was top notch!

This place is awesome, the atmosphere, friendly staff and the salmon was cooked to excellent temperature. You need to stop in and check it out

Great atmosphere, great service and amazing food. Shrimp alfredo was the best I've had and the catfish filet was huge and also amazing!

Me and hubby decided to go here last minute for our anniversary and was hesitant when we arrived and hr before close, I will have to say for the hr we spent their the food was amazing, the service was excellent, and we were very satisfied customers! We will be returning asap!

Finally got myself to try this place after seeing that it was going to open. Seafood and sports bar is such a good idea that I’m surprised I haven’t been to something like it before. The good news here is that the food is good. The gumbo here actually is gumbo, unlike a couple of other places I’ve tried. Maybe not at the same level as what I’ve had in New Orleans but finding this in Ohio is nice. Clam Chowder actually has a clam flavor throughout when many places just taste like thickened cream for much of the soup.

Fried oyster po’boy had the standard lettuce, tomato, and mayo on it and is worth trying. The bread did fall apart at the bottom in the second half of two different versions I saw (the grilled shrimp one, which I did not try, had the same issue), but the flavor was there and the top half of the bread was right so that’s likely fixable. But really, if bread thickness was the main problem with a place that doesn’t just focus on sandwiches, it’s a good sign. I’ll be back and I’m glad to see a place like this, especially in the southern half of Huber Heights.
