Schmidt’s Sausage Haus und Restaurant reviews
14Authentic German food with amazing food and service. They have something for everyone. Had their creme puffs and tarts that were excellent. The pies and cake looked every bit just as good. This is not a fast food place so plan your time accordingly. It's an experience where your food is fresh and not microwaved. Couldn't want anything more.
Fantastic place! The food is great! What's better is the staff! Sooooo nice! I love in Cleveland but I will be back soon!
I've been visiting this place for most of my life it seems and it's still the authentic German Food restaurant to visit. Fresh hand made and delicious every time!
Nostalgia is nice but food was just ok. I kept hearing about these great creampuffs to find that they tasted like stale crescent rolls with store bought donut cream in them.
Excellent German restaurant in the heart of German Village that goes back well over a century. Be aware they do not accept reservations so plan your dinner time accordingly. Quick service even when busy. Fantastic sausages, sauerbraten and spaetzle. Also must try the cheese pie with cherry and the gigantic cream puff. Responsible prices for the quality and quanity of the food. Would highly recommend.
Wasn't too sure at first the place looked small and cramped and had a long wait to get in. But after we got seated and started out with some German beer they had on tap and decided to get the buffet. The buffet was very clean and well stocked. Really enjoyed all four styles of sausage, saurkrauts, red cabbage, and breaded chicken was amazing! Plenty of sides all good too such as German potato salad, rice, Mac and cheese and salad bar. Deserts were good too. The talk was about their creampuffs but I liked the German chocolate cake much more.
Authentic German food in a lovely historic neighborhood. Went on Sunday for lunch and while it was crowded, they seated two of us in about 20 minutes.
I had the bratwurst platter which had awesome potato salad, apple sauce and great sauerkraut. Server Michael was great. Took a cream puff and a cherry cheese tart home.
Located in the heart of German Village. Great ambience, good service, friendly bartender. Good for beer enthusiasts, since they have a variety of beers. It's ok for just beers or a quick bite, but they have also good desserts. German chocolate cake is delicious!
Lunch buffet was excellent. Place was packed but efficient at noon on a Wednesday, which is a very good sign.
We really enjoyed this restaurant. We showed up on a Friday afternoon and the line was very long; however, they got us seated in about 20 minutes- half the time they told us it would take. The server was efficient and had good suggestions. Most importantly the food was really good!
It is a loud and bustling restaurant and I would not recommend it for a romantic dinner setting. However, if you want to go somewhere different or fun with great food- this is the perfect spot for you!
I've been coming here for 40 years and I'm happy to report it plays as well in 2017 as it did in 1977.
This. Place. Is. Awesome. The food is delicious, they serve proper sized (liter) quality beer, and the atmosphere and staff are excellent. If in looking for a criticism is say perhaps their size. It gets busy here. Ice been able to get in with a 5 min wait, but I've also waited over an hour before. Maybe call ahead to check wait times, but come either way. It's worth it.
Dry tough meet, gummy spaetzel, the braised cabbage is supposed to be rotkohl but its very sour, even the rolls were dry. Service was good and friendly but i'd never go back and hesitate to call it German.
They have a great buffet at lunch and dinner! The food is great service is wonderful atmosphere is fun and family friendly. Clean and bright and desserts that are delicious! One of our new favorites!
