What a great collection of model homes! Take a stroll thru these beautiful homes that are very well appointed and comfortable. You can view these homes at your leisure and dream of a new home or get ideas for updating or improving your existing home!

We have been here numerous times to figure out our home building processes, and Guy is just phenomenal. He makes the time for you and makes sure you feel like your time is valued, which it is, and is always answering questions.can’t say enough things about this design studio and their staff.

Decent at best. Looking at houses is great but the amount of spam calls and e-mails I got after giving them my info was not worth it

Many things well done but many not so good. We contracted in Dec 2020 and our home was finished in June 2022. As a result we couldn’t sell our home since we had no idea when ours would be finished. Very poor communication throughout the building process. Now we are in our home. Buyers beware, do not get the kitchen cabinets that have the gap between the cabinet doors. It means that many of your kitchen items that are larger don’t fit. Pay the extra to get the doors that meet. This was not explained to us. Also once our house was finished they have left their trash. Our homeowners assoc is harassing us to clean up and this should be Schumacher’s job. Our doors rub on the carpet, a closet door is delaminating, our fan needs the install completed. Not big items but they need done. Clean up the trash.

Caveat emptor 'let the buyer beware'. We interviewed a few builders for our house. We went with Schumacher because they assured us that we would have our house built in 150 days even with the supply chain issues. "We are preferred buyers and have stockpiles of all goods in our warehouses, " we were assured. "And we start the ordering process as soon as we are under contract. " So, with that we went under contract on May 28,2021. We already owned our lot and were paying cash so no lending institutions to slow us down. Heck, we live outside of city limits and have limited permitting, again should help speed things up. We were wrong. As of today, May 16,2022, we still don't have a master shower installed, still have temporary garage doors, missing cabinet panel, broken window, and drainpipe in basement with a hole that leaks when the main shower is used.

We have had so many issues from subs not showing up, subs doing work that don't speak any English (not usually a problem, but we saw a problem and we couldn't communicate to fix it before it was too late). We had the wrong grout installed and when they tried to remove the grout, they chipped all the shower tiles. It had to be ripped out and started over and this started on February 26,2021, and to this day it's still just stripped dry wall with a pipe stub sticking out of the wall.

Schumacher didn't communicate with us at all and if you call the main office, good luck speaking to a live person. They screen calls. When we would drop by the house and for 2 weeks there was no activity we would call, and we were given every excuse. Items not available or they were shipped to the wrong project, or they were just busy were the reasons they gave us. Remember the warehouses full of stock and that all of our items in the house were ordered back in June, not true. I know the supply chain has issues, but there is no way a garage door ordered in June would still not be ready the following May. It just wasn't ordered on time, plain and simple. We had change orders that we didn't initiate and there was always a discrepancy on the price of material and labor for non-contractual work or money that was set aside for "oversight. "

Just make sure as the owner you are well versed on interpreting architectural plans. They will make you sign off on them and if a door swings the wrong way or there isn't a cable outlet over the fireplace, too bad you signed off on it. Go through everything and even better just get a different builder.

We were told repeatedly since September of 2020 the goal was to complete and deliver a finished home in 150 days. Then as the project slowed through 2021 it would be closer to 180, maybe 190.

Today is 416 days since the funding was confirmed and released, 312 days since land was cleared and staked for inspection. 250 days since "first shovel" AND IT IS STLL HAS NOT BEEN DELIVERED AS THEY ASSURED US.

At this moment there still remains significant work to be done and in the last 8 days the only thing that got done was a partially installed garage door opener.

A week ago (5/27/2022) the city building inspector failed the project as "Not Ready" to meet engineering requirements.

This has gone from frustrating to infuriating to incredulousness at the apparent incompetence, a total lack of accountability, responsibility, and commitment customer care and service.

Awful, built a house with them, so many problems.took 12 months to build 3000 sq ft house.went out to house multiple times to check to see progress.there was never anybody working. I zero stars was an option i would pick that. DO NOT BUILD WITH SCHUMACHER.

We are in the process of building and have had a great experience so far! We are only in the early stages, but if we continue to have the same service Alex and Molly have provided we are going to consider ourselves lucky!

We fully expect delays and hiccups throughout the process, but could not be more pleased with their guidance, communication, and transparency this far!

Edit 2021:
We were interested in one particular plot in October 2020 - they said it was sold and if it becomes available they would contact us. Checked in October 2021 - that plot is still empty and available for sale.

Very bad customer service, if you are a foreigner. Very bad experience.old review: The employees are respectful. Follow social b distancing

Like the previous review, I am also currently building with Schumacher in Ohio through the Akron location. I wholeheartedly would not recommend them. My advice: meet with several builders before, Schumacher's price will likely be better, but trust me, after selections and finalizing cost, you will likely be able to afford another builder.
This is a long post so bear with me. Our timeline is listed below if you want to skip ahead.
Our main issue has been communication, delays, and dishonestly.
Communication:
Very poor, often led to miscommunications end with significant delays. 6-6-8 week delay with lot consolidation due to untimely signing of documents and papers not going to who they needed to go to for approval. Not due to COVID, but due to communication.
Updates: If we did not reach out by email or phone, we received no updates. When I voiced my concern and asked for improved communication, Renaye, the coordinator replied that we were lucky to be in the position we were (our prices did not have to be increased due to lumbar price increase) and from there, communication actually got worse.
Builder changed without us even knowing.

It's been a very discouraging process and you can't help but feel helpless. We were so excited to build and knew from the beginning it was going to be a daunting process, but so fortunate for the opportunity to build, something we had only dreamed of.

Timeline:
Sept 2020: Started looking at builders
Oct 2020: Signed with Schumacher
Jan 2021: Precon meeting
April 2021: Loan closed
Aug 2021: Dig date
Feb-March 2022 expected to be finished

Conclusion:
I may just seem like another person complaining, but this should not be acceptable.
I spent 8 years in the Army and rose to the rank of sergeant. I worked 3 years as a floor nurse. Spent 4 years in undergrad, 4 years in medical school, and 3 years and a resident physician. I have been a follower and a leader. I can tell you, that Schumacher is doing a poor job and there needs to be change.
People dream about the chance to build a home, a chance to make something that they will cherish, have a family in, make memories. They spend years working and saving for this opportunity and they trust you with this dream.

My recommendations:
Improved communication with customers
Honesty with customers
Accountability: I am asking for follow up on these matters. I would like to know what you are going to do and how the process will be improved. I have invested hundreds of thousands of dollars and at the end of this process will have invested 16-17 months. I deserve to know what Schumacher plans to do about this.

My husband and I are currently building a home with Schumacher Homes in Ohio. We were so excited to build our dream home but sadly this whole process has been a major disappointment with no end in sight.

The hardest things about this whole process has been the poor customer service and the lack of communication between the project manager (Jeff) and general manager (Walt). Jeff goes days with no responses to text messages or phone calls. I have sent multiple emails to Lisa Snyder in the office, asking for her to have Walt give us a call to talk things over. Crickets from that area as well. It is one thing to keep us informed about delays. We understand that no one wants to work, jobs are getting delayed and supplies are backordered. It is entirely something else when you are ignored after spending over a half of a million dollars to build a home. Jeff just tells us what we want to hear and the majority he says does not happen. Trust has been lost months ago. We would have been better off getting the phone numbers of all the contractors and coordinating things ourselves. We have been left in the dark about everything. Our home initially was supposed to be done in June, then July and now August (potentially).

I know I am just a number and another complaint on the list. At the end of the day this too shall pass, but what makes a company GREAT is taking care of your customers. Listening to their thoughts and concerns and making them feel important. That is what makes a company better than others. As for now, there will be no recommendation coming from my family to build with Schumacher Homes. I will do everything in my power to get the word out about how poorly we have been treated. Save yourself the hassle and find another company to build your dream home.

A very disappointed customer

I had a appointment at 11am when I arrived they stated that my appointment was for 1pm which I know was a lie. I went ahead and looked at the 6 model homes and found the one I like. I toured the showroom looked at siding, tiles, bathroom fixtures, countertops and no one acknowledge I was even in the showroom needless to say I left at 2: 15 with no one saying a word to me since 11am not one person asked if I had any questions or can someone help you other than the first meet. I honestly have not been this angry in a long time because I don't know what happened. I do not know if it was my attire my looks or my race it would be a lot easier to figure out if I had a conversation with someone. I can't even say I got bad service when I got NO SERVICE AT ALL! I am a manager at a large company and none of my sales associates or management staff would let a customer walk through our showroom without even saying hello. I am very angry with them for wasting my time!

Dream home paradise, I am a senior citizen who retired 5 years ago and probably should not be thinking of buying a new home. But the home models at Schumacher in Akron were beautiful and will make you wonder if you could only purchase one how good life can be. Keeping my finger's cross

We had already spoken to a sales rep at the Wooster office. I called ahead so the akron folks were expecting us. They allowed us to look through the homes at our leisure and did not bug us after, but were available if we needed them. Thank you!
