Shanghai Wok By B & Y, Northfield OH

My dad always said that you get what you pay for. Normally, everything that I have had here especially any Ho Fun dishes have been very good but this baby shrimp for $5.99 was absolutely terrible. 21 never deveined fried shrimp were hard, overcooked and not cleaned. So, the cats had a feast.

So we were looking for another Chinese restaurant after Dragon Garden closed down and we've tried around at several different Chinese takeouts nearby before settling down on this one.

The food is catered to Americans (as most Chinese restaurants in small towns are) BUT it is very very good. I may not be Chinese but I am Asian and this place adds unique flavors to their food that helps distinguish it from the other Chinese places around the area. The black beans added to the Hunan Chicken for instance and the seasoning of the beef cho fun reminded me of the flavors of the 'big' restaurants that you can find in Cleveland. The person at the counter was very friendly to me-but even if he wasn't, it's about the food not the customer service for take out restaurants in my opinion. And the food was very good.

TDLR there's more Asian flavors in the food at this restaurant than there are at other restaurants around the area so I recommend it.

Food is top tier the crab rangoons could use a lot more filling though. The general TSO chicken platter was loved by my family. The service is quick and easy whether you're placing the order or just picking it up. However the entire restaurant is like an ice box during the winter and an oven during the summer. It's not climate controlled and I get I'm only in there to grab my food and leave but if I place the order there and then continue to sit there and wait when it's 25 degrees outside and only 30 degrees inside I don't want to be freezing. But besides the place not being climate controlled it's overall not a bad place to try if you're in the area.

Very Rude, I was yelled at by the staff because I requested my food be made fresh and he told me don’t you ever ask me that our food is always fresh so don’t you say that to me again you don’t know what your talking about I apologized and explained I always say that when I order. I say that when I order because I’ve had experiences where I order on the phone from restaurants and my food isn’t hot when I go in and pick up my food and I’m the type of person to show up 10 minutes early and sit in the parking lot till my food is done. Plus, Last year the last time I ordered from this place my food was congealed, and my chicken was cold, and my rice was extremely hard

Worst chinese i have had. Beef sticks were too tough to eat. General tsos chicken didnt look or taste like chicken.threw it in the garbage.wont go back.

My first time ordering and everything is really delicious! My order was delivered at the time I requested and everything tasted amazing, hot and fresh! Very nice portions, very reasonably priced and an extremely nice delivery gentlemen. I would highly recommend Shanghai Wok By B & Y!

Had the chicken teriyaki it seemed to me to be raw and I tasted it and it was raw and it was not only cold but was very chewy and bland. I suggest you don’t go here for your health. In addition the rice was terribly made incredibly stale and moisterized.

If I could give them 0 stars I would because this place is foul I saw a roach and also saw rat like droppings which made me not even want to order anymore I had to leave. Also their customer service is horrible and they are ignorant no professionalism at all.

I went here one day asked to the dude taking orders what something was on the menu. And dude was rude as heck and I stated. You ain’t gotta be rude about it and just walked out. I’ll find another Chinese place in the city.

Well where to start. They had good reviews on grubhub but I decided to order by phone. I understand contactless delivery but left in the snow is not good at all. As far as Food rice dry no extra bean sprouts or onion not spicy like I requested for more vegetables than meat and overall very very bland and dry.

These pics were AFTER we ate to our heart’s content. Huge portions! Our first time here and we will be back. Gave 4 instead of 5 stars because the wait time was 35 mins longer than initially quoted by Uber eats. Love that we could choose ANY entree to build our family meal. Lots of high quality protein & veggies, and yummy apps too. Definitely try this place if you haven’t before! Great value for the price.

I used to get good food there but the last time was awful. Chicken was not fresh. It was dried out and tough like it was made days ago and left out a long time then reheated a few times. Very disappointed.

I’m actually come from Shanghai too, so I must want them before leave this area. Their spring rolls taste like the ones my grandma made for me before, and sour hot soup so sweet it is the sweet Shanghai flavor. At first I saw their menu are typical American Chinese food but still can taste Shanghai flavor from it. I love this restaurant. I drunk whole quart soup in 3 mins it was so yummy. So yummy.
And their price is so good, food is so fresh and clean not like other cheap Chinese restaurants sometimes is not that great.

This is our favorite Chinese take out hands down! There are others closer to home but I have not found better egg foo yong and love the Chow Mein!

There egg rolls are Good and they are nice size. You just have to watch and tell them that you want them drained well otherwise they'll be too greasy.

Great food. Hot and tasty. I love Curry and they had a plate of it. Reasonsble prices. Definitly coming back when I can. Thank you. They prefer you order it on-line or call in, and they will place it on a table close to the door for you to pick it up. Very very appropriate for these times.

Extremely slow. Was told my wait would be 30 mins, took over an hour with me sitting there waiting. Ordered before I left work 5 mins away, but was late for my lunch hour because it took so long. Placed order at 5: 26, was ready at 6: 39. Food was good next day, since I didn't have time to eat day it was made.

Consistently perfect food. I order at least once per week for my family and the veggies are always fresh and cooked right. Friendly team.

Not sure how this dump gets high ratings. The food was absolutely terrible greasy and oily. I've ordered three different times from there never again. Even the processed food at the mall is better than this place.

When I called back because my order was incorrect after delivery and I was overcharged. Whoever answered the phone flat out said no refunds and laughed at me. I would highly recommend the other place on old Route 8 instead of this dump

This place is always so great! Fast delivery, quality food, on time and great service. Also my toddler loves the steamed dumplings! Thanks for great food.
