Found this gem quite by chance through the sage advice of a long time Kent native, and I’m so glad I stopped in! Great selection, helpful staff, and easy to find. I can’t wait to come back!

Well I believe that they are trying to communicate that they are experts in shoe field. But I felt not well recieved or comfortable. I'm deaf and had a hard time understanding condescending remarks.

Bill and Thomas at Shoemaker's Outlet are AMAZING! I was in the market for a Coach brand dog collar for my 175# English Mastiff. Every collar that I saw was about $200 (too rich for my wallet) and it's hard to find one that fits her neck size. I bought a Coach belt from a resale site and took it to Shoemaker's to be cut down into a collar. They cut the belt apart without any damage to the leather or fabric, cut it down in length, sewed it all back together, AND made an extra "keeper" out of the belt remnant all while I waited.and the charge for all of this was minimal. Beautiful collar that fits her perfectly, is a one of a kind pattern in Coach pet collars. My Emma and I are beyond thrilled. Thank you, gentlemen!

I don't typically share negative feedback, but I simply called to ask a question and was told it was ridiculous question to ask over the phone and was talked to very rudely. The person that answered seemed like it was a huge inconvenience that I was calling. I would not call or go into this store.

Went in to buy boots since they were local and could order the boots I wanted. I know my size, but they wanted to brannock my feet first. Ok.
Except I have 1 in a million feet that don't show a correct size in a brannock. My feet are crazy thick and wide. I warned them that the size they wanted to order would never work. Finally got them to agree to order up in width at least, but not as wide as I would have wanted.

They came in today, they were too tight. They put them on a stretcher. Still crazy tight. And he got mad at ME for having sensitive feet. I wanted to order bigger wider shoes. I warned them.

He was of the opinion that I should be willing to 'break in' poorly fitting boots. NO. The boots should be very close to fitting properly before you agree to break them in. These weren't.

He was mad he ordered boots he can't sell. And I'm like, I warned you. If you can't afford to order the boots as a possible no fit. Tell me. I can find them somewhere else who can.

1 star.

My wife got her Fluevog boots resized there a few years ago. Yeah he was a little gruff but you know what? The work on them was stellar. I read in a few reviews that people were complaining that his workshop was dirty. Guess what? A lot of cobblers shops are tend to be a little messy. It's the nature of the business. Fixing and making shoes isn't a sterile business. The customer isn't always right. Sometimes you need to trust your craftsman and I would definitely call him one.

I just had two shoes (each from a different pair) repaired and it only cost $10. Total. Considering how much these shoes cost me ($70 - $80 a pair) and the life left in them, Shoemakers Outlet gave me an outstanding bargain!

Shoemakers Outlet also sells high quality new and refurbished shoes (again at a bargain).

Do yourself a favor, support your local businesses, save some money, and keep your shoes out of a landfill.

Very knowledgeable about shoes and how they should fit. Have taken two of my employees here to be fitter and walked away with reasonably priced safety toed shoes both times. Both employees stated a desire to return for purchase of their own shoes in the future.

I was smitten the moment I met Bill at Shoemakers Outlet. Imagine, someone who actually fixes things. In our disposable society this man and his business are charming bulwarks against the destructive tide of modernity. He can fix shoes, sew up bags and coats, glue things together, and has wit and charm. The shoes are nice too, with a selection of new and used leather offerings.

Reviewing simply because this guy gets a bad rap. He is opinionated, but it’s because he knows what he is talking about. A little quirky, yeah. A tad abrasive, certainly. But he’s got years and years of fitting, selling, repairing, etc. Actually, I think passionate would be a better word. People that think he is rude, loud or whatever else, aren’t taking the time to actually listen to him. He will sell you whatever you want, but he’s is going to ask a lot of questions too. He will come up with a personalized pick based on your input, and he knows shoes. You don’t have to take his advice, but give the guy 5 minutes of your time before making that decision.
Only thing that sucks about this guy is his hours! I wish he opened a little sooner

Had a pair of dress boots repaired here. Did a great job took only a few days and was reasonably priced, getting ready to take a pair od sandals in for repair. Live that it's close to home!

Despite the other low rated reviews I checked this place out. The owner is very knowledgeable and a true craftsmen. He can fit you and alter your boots for your comfort. Been to many other stores but this one is establishment is a notch above. Give him a chance to prove my word accurate!
