Skyway, Fairlawn OH

It's a burger joint. Their burgers are uvercooked consistently. Worsening the experience is the baffling belief that perfectly savory beef needs to be "enhanced" with sugar. Lots and lots of sugar. A poster child of 1950s food horror. The server was great though.

I've never had a bad burger from Skyway!
ALWAYS done just right, the taste is incredible and the bun is fresh.
The sauce that's on top?
I could drink the stuff from a 20 Oz.glass!
I bought 5 of the burgers as I live 25 miles from Akron.
Gotta have a couple for the next day at home!

Researched long running restaurant and this one fit the bill. Loved flashing your light for a car hop. Our server was super friendly and a pleasure to talk to. Food came out quickly and was delish. The were huge. We also tried the California? Very refreshing. Veggie soup was spot on. Thanks for the tradition. Hope to return if in the area again.

Always great food. Try a cheeseburger with grilled mushrooms and grilled onions! No more trays in cars since covid, but you can still sit there to eat.

In my opinion, has been better than Swensons.

Wish Skyway would bring back the classic car days and cruising skyway! That was so fun and would bring more business in too. Think about it!:)

Best. Swenson's is close but service here is hugely better.
As a general rule you either like Skyway or Swenson's best in Akron. They have competing signature burgers and I love the Ski-Hi and detest the Swenson's Galley Boy. Their other stuff, burgers, soda fountain, other sandwiches, mostly push, although I would give the onion rings at Sky-way higher marks than the ones from Swenson's. The Sky-way yum-yum rings are made fresh and the others come frozen from Cleveland. I think you can tell the difference, although many people prefer the denser, smaller frozen ones.
I'm always willing to eat at the other place, but I love Sky-way. And again today!

NASTY! If you get chance to see kitchen you'd never eat here again. No wonder no trays anymore, they would have to expend energy to clean them.

I haven't been here since I was a child and the food is still really good:) We got a Sky Hi Sandwich, Charbroiled chicken Sandwich, Hot Dog, 2 onion rings, a fry and 2 California Fizz. Everyone was very happy with their food and the California Fizz is really a interesting flavor! Love the Skyway sauce on both sandwiches. The service was fast and friendly.

First time trying here and service is fantastic. The food was fine - I like the hot dog a lot but the bun was really chewy and tough - like it had been microwaved? Fries were fine and got a side of slaw which was also good.

Firstly, the food was great! I had a double cheese burger with lettuce, bacon, and ketchup. Secondly, the time it took to get out food was pretty quick! Last but not least. Thirdly, the food was fairly priced and costed about as much as the obnoxious toll fee I paid to get to this area (About $15) The workers were very friendly and I witnessed one do everything they could to help a customer (they didn't have any bags like the customer requested, so he improvised and got a box that was empty from some of the products they used. My girlfriend and I enjoyed our lunch here:)

I was so excited and trying this and was kind of disappointed. The food was overcooked and the sauce was not good. Want to try again but can't bring myself to it.

Service was excellent. Miss the trays. Having a 4 yr.old and an 8 yr.old in the car. Juggling them. All of the after trash. No cute paper plate with the amount. Of course it was on the torn up bag stuffed into another bag. That problem occured because I'm not paying when bags are handed to me. I always tip well and pay when I'm finished. All the nostalgic car hop feeling is just gone. Again. Good food and service are consistent.
