Southern Ohio Pathology Conslts

Billing practices are terrible. They don't seem to care about it either. They just send you a bill for the full rack rate for their services. It's up to you to navigate their terrible system to add insurance info. They should be investigated.

This review is in regards to the billing procedures with Southern Ohio Pathology. I had a cancerous tumor removed in 1/2023 and the pathology was completed through this company. Following surgery, there were many bills that arrived and I paid each one upon arrival. Five months later I received a letter from a collections agency saying that my remaining balance had been turned over to them to collect. I made several phone calls immediately to the collection agency as well as to the hospital where the surgery was done. The rep at the hospital made a conference call to Southern Ohio Pathology billing department to help me get this straightened out, however, after 45 minutes of waiting with no one answering, we ended the phone call. This happened 3x's; on one occasion the number finally got a pick up that disconnected before we spoke! The next day I FINALLY reached a person to speak with and she said it had been forwarded to collections b/c I had not paid. When I told her I had never even gotten a statement, she said I should have gotten several but could not produce a date that statements were sent out, or the statement itself! I'm guessing that once insurance paid their part, the remainder was sent straight to a collector. Terrible experience with the billing department, and I've alerted my oncology doctors about the situation since the other reviews had similar experiences and also gave them a 1-star rating.

This company has serious problems billing insurance companies. They are wanting you to pay be first so they can collect again off insurance after you already paid the bill. I told them if they didn't correct the suspicious practice soon I would blow the wissle at the insurance board of ohio and the attorney generals office.

Worst experience ever. Their billing department needs to be trained. They took approximately 6 months to reimburse me.

Keep trying to contact them to ask about a bill. Every time I call I can never reach anyone. I have tired every time of day. They have only emailed me, but never answered my following question. My insurance doesn't even say they tried to use them. I am unsure if it's a scam or not.

My insurance paid them around $400. Then I start receiving calls and letters from a 3rd party collection agency for $50, which their office never sent any bills for. Send me a bill and I'll pay you directly, I'm not going to pay any shady collector. What a scam of a business you run out there. You call it Healthcare? ! More like Health gfy. No thanks, you gfy.

Southern Ohio Pathology customer service really needs to work on their people skills. Really poorly trained staff!
