Super 8 by Wyndham Portsmouth

I had a rejuvenating experience, I felt well rested when I got home. The rooms smelled amazing, the Laundry area, was convenient to use. The front desk staff were very nice and polite. Rebecca, the breakfast attendant was very welcoming, asked if we needed anything, variety of breakfast items. Very quiet, and relaxing.

If you like a cheap hotel with hearing people talking, dogs barking, smoke smell, mold growing, and ceiling falling in your room then you have found your home away from home!
I don’t know why anyone would give this place a raving review… unless they are one of the “permanent guest”.
My husband stayed here for work. He was 7 hours away from home. It’s a small town so not much to choose from. He was switched to three different rooms and each one of them kept getting worse. Two had ceiling falling in which one also had black mold growing under floors and everyone of them smelled like smoke or could smell smoke coming through vents. The staff didn’t seem to surprised about the concerns. One employee told him he came on a good week. My husband ended up with a sinus and upper respiratory infection staying in this place. It physically made him ill. I am still trying to get into contact with the manager to get a full or even partial refund. She seems to never be in. Called over a 3 day period and she was not in because of -this or that.
I’d recommend spending the extra money and drive time staying elsewhere. Staying here cost us more money at the end with dr copay and medications and not able to go to work for a day and coming back home early to see a doctor.
But as I said before if you like cheap, dirty, make you sick rooms- this is for you!
We will never book here again if he comes back to Ohio.

If you don’t mind roaches, dirty and trash laying everywhere it will be a great place to stay. Front desk guy was quick at refunding with no hesitation.

The room was dirty, bathroom nasty, chair broken, one bed was awful and squeaky, breakfast was horrible. Would have been better off camping.

Stinks really bad, good chance they have Bedbugs, came back with a cluster of bites on my lower back. (never had that before) Air conditioner fell off the wall.needs tore down!

Visiting from Florida, we needed a pet friendly hotel for my dad‘s funeral service in Portsmouth. I’ve stayed at Super 8s before with no problem. This place was dirty, and the police were there twice within two hours of our check in that afternoon. The second time we happened to be in the parking lot getting stuff from the car and asked the police officer what was going on. He strongly recommended that we not stay there due to the drug activity and that they are called there regularly. We actually ran into a couple of the zombies in the elevator. For our safety, we left and went to another establishment. We tried to get a refund through Expedia, but were told that the hotel would not release the funds.

Our electric went out so checked in. First rm we had you couldn't get in the rm if you left. 2nd room we had middle evening air conditioner casing fell off into floor lady said when next shift came she'd come fix it. Never did had go back down she said soon as someone came by she'd come fix it finally about two hrs after that someone else showed after several attempts and case changes they just taped it up. Then the towel rod came off wall. Won't go back

The Super 8 was nice. Convenient to get to. In our room, the floor was very sticky. When you walked on the wood floor you felt your shoes stick.
The service was very good. Breakfast was easy to access and make. The lady who serviced the breakfast room was very kind.
All in all, except for the sticky floors, the ecperience was good.

The room was dirty and pictures and towel racks falling off the walls. Mold in the bathroom and nedded to be recaulk. Floors very dirty and burn holes in the sheets plus when we came back the second day the cleaning lady had smoked in the room it smelled very bad of Cigarette smoke. The people were nice but they need some changes to get better reviews. Will not say here next time I come back to Portsmouth and the Roadway Inn from what my friends said was no better.

Good value. Staff very friendly. Very good breakfast. Would have been 5 starts except the TV wasn't working well due to connectivity of internet. Planned arrival for NHL game but miss the first period of a playoff game.

Check in was easy, ladies at the front desk were very polite and kind. Room was clean, hallways smelt like cheap Marijuana and it’s a non smoking hotel; go figure‍️ Can’t read the signs I guess. Our air conditioner did not work properly, room smelt like an ash tray, water pressure was horrible, hot and cold were backwards on the lav faucet!
Hotel needs a major update and makeover! One of the worst Super 8’s I’ve stayed in and sad that I burnt 15000 points on a free room here‍️ Wyndham needs to strip this owner of the franchise if it’s not updated soon!

Rooms where mostly clean, except for the couch bed. There where urine stains, and what looked like blood stains on the mattress, and the floor had dust bunnies. Friendly staff, and good breakfast on the other hand.

Booked a room and paid for it in advance. Was in a car wreck and my car was totaled. I canceled the reservation and was told that the hotel would be more than willing to return my payment in full. Only partial payment was reinversed. Called and was told the manager will call me back. Left my number but didn't receive a call back. Called several more times only to be told she isn't in. They never stood by their word and now won't take my phone calls. Shouldn't have said the full amount would be returned if thet weren't going to do it. I rescheduled my trip and was going to stay here but no not if they aren't going to do what they said they would do. Dirty business. Made money from a room that wasn't used.

This hotel sucks.i stayed here last week and was woke up all night by people fighting in the hall way.the lady at the front desk didn't do anything about it.last night I made a mistake by coming back.this time I had to smell cigarette smoke all night long coming through my vent in the bathroom.the same fat lady at the desk didn't do anything about it.i will not come back here again.

We live in Portsmouth and brought our son here just for a relaxing weekend and the pool. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms were very clean, bathroom was super clean (like sparkling new) and the beds were very comfortable. Fridge, microwave and coffee pot were provided in room. They have free WiFi that works well. Only have 2 complaints. The water in the shower is not hot. Like taking a lukewarm shower. And the pool water was really cold and the hot tub temperature was 70. We had a great time nonetheless and will stay again if the pool and hot tub are fixed.

First night there was next to impossible to sleep due to people in the hallway arguing. The start of the second night was even worse with the constant slamming of doors and people being very loud and hanging out in the parking lot well after 1 a.m. Room was not very clean, signs of roaches in the bathroom. I ended up leaving early.
