Sylvania YMCA/JCC reviews
20I have never even been to a YMCA and I attempted to cancel my account and they do not listen. They keep charging you and then are so so rude. Not only will they keep charging your account after countless attempts to cancel a membership they threaten you with collections for the amounts they never should have been charging in the first place! I woke up today to find another charge trying to come out of my bank account despite my stop payment requests- which means they are trying to get around them. Do I have to go into witness protection to hide from the extortionists at the YMCA? Again, i have never even been into a YMCA because Of Covid. This is ridiculous and I would never ever recommend ever giving them your bank account information.
Staff is great and very accommodating, but I wasn’t able to lay out and tan because of the fact that the patrons gave their toddler children their own individual chair. I saw countless families of five each have their own individual chair even if the children were younger. Very rude to be so stingy and inconsiderate of others, so I believe a rule should be enforced that young children should share a chair with their siblings. I heard staff members even complain about it but it’s just the simple fact that it isn’t a general rule.
Will revisit this review after repair of the chair lift. I must praise the staff for following up with me.shows my that they truly care and assures me that they will follow through.
Update.no repairs were made before the end of the season.
The staff who work here are good. However, MANAGEMENT PROVIDES A POOR FACILITY AND SERVICES OVERALL! We took family membership in Jan 2019 with $80 per month fee. First of all, they only provide limited equipment in this location. And I typically went in the early mornings around 5: 00-5: 30 am during Jan-Feb 2019 time frame, and have found several of the tread mills in this location not working at all. I have come across this issue many times during my visits in this time period I am talking about. The management did not to fix it. We had to give up and handed over the entry keys and stopped using YMCA services. And when we requested to cancel our membership, they have created a big issues out of it. Well, first they have limited equipment, and then if any equipment is not working, they do not fix it. We did not find a way out. For the monthly fee they charge $80, it is not worth. Places like, Planet Fitness, provides a much better facility and services (plenty of newer equipment, clean facility, low fee $10, no contract). Planet Fitness is much better option in comparison to YMCA in this location. BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN YOU GET INTO MEMBERSHIP CONTRACT WITH YMCA!
This place used to be good for the summer time until they raised their prices. $70/month. That’s crazy, especially if you only want to go there for the pool in the summer. I visited last week with my 1 year old and the baby pool was closed! Come on JCC, let’s make things affordable like before.
Love the YMCA its very conveniently located for me and my family however this facility is a bit smaller and a bit outdated compared to others I have been to. The group classes and staff make up for it Sue always welcomes you with a great big smile and knows you on a first name basis.
The shower I really old and they barely work men's got a hot tub the women don't I don't like that one
Rating is not so much for the YMCA itself but for their sports program. Not being a member of the YMCA it cost us $75 for our son to play t-ball and it was $75 wasted. The program was very unorganized and very poorly ran. I would not recommend anyone that’s not a member waste their money having their child do a sport here.
Swimming lessons were done with a very knowledgeable instructor. Person at front desk polite in courteous.
I love the amenities and the staff at the JCC. Not your typical Y, they offer a large outdoor pool and sauna, steam room and hot tub in the locker rooms. The locker rooms definitely need to be updated, however.
Totally worth the family membership! This place is great for all ages. I've been swimming there two days in a row and I can't wait to go back again tomorrow.
The gym is up to date and air conditioned.
The basketball court is clean and almost never too crowded.
I have nothing but great things to say about the Sylvania JCC/YMCA!
Removing one star each day until they resolve the accounting issues they've created on my account.
This is an older y that does not have an indoor pool. They do offer many classes and I like their gym. It's usually not as crowded as some other y's which makes it nice. During the summer my family will make the drive to this y almost every day for the outdoor pool. We absolutely love It!
Dated facility. It was difficult going here after living in Perrysburg. Childcare area vastly different than what we were use to. Ultimately cancelled our membership. Hope they build a new up to date center so we can go back soon.
Dated building but decent machines. Showers in the men's locker room breaks consistently. When it breaks it only has hot water.
Walked into the men's sauna only to find a FECES COVERED USED CONDOM on the floor! THIS PLACE IS DISGUSTING AND SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN!
Candace Billau runs an excellent fitness section with an outstanding variety of machines and free weights as well as a great variety of cardio options. Classes such as spinning are awesome!
This is a great facility that has something for everyone. Basketball, swimming and workout facility.
Great family friendly staff! I wish they had a better system for reserving the raquetball courts, but it's very well maintained. They feature a child center and great facilities!
I've been in the hot sauna, the showers, and the exercise room with weights and work out equipment, everyone including the patrons and staff have been conducive to a good workout.
