Tenji Sushi, Mason OH

We’ve been coming here for over four years now, and it’s our favorite go-to place! Yes, it’s changed owners a couple of times and had its ups and downs between, but every restaurant has.food is always amazing, so flavorful and colorful. They have a new menu which is slightly smaller than it used to be, but that’s because they are focusing and excelling on specific areas of cuisine instead of having a potentially overwhelming array of dishes to choose from. The service is always so warm and friendly, and the food is worth every penny! We love Tenji!

We're visiting and decided to try out this place and it was the best choice. It's SO good. The Cherry Blossom roll, the Lohi roll, and the Summer roll were all phenomenal.

Great food, superb service.
We got the Hibachi steak, tuna rolls, crab rangoon and milk tea. We would recommend all of it, and we will be back.

AMAZING! -NEW OWNER Sushi is unbelievable—everything is fresh! Chef has been a sushi chef in Japan! The quality and the imagination of the dishes are unforgettable! WE WILL BE BACK AND WILL TELL OUR FRIENDS!

First time visiting last night (1-19-2024) for my wife and I, and it was a great experience. Our server, Tracy, was extremely kind, polite, and attentive. We started with some steamed Gyoza, which were soft and very tasty. The dipping sauce was a great compliment to the dumplings - it was a sweeter soy sauce like ponzu. We shared a dish of Yaki Soba with Kobe Beef (no onions). The noodles were cooked perfectly, as was everything else in the dish. The broccoli, carrots, and zucchini were hot but still firm and crunchy. The beef was sliced thin and was very tender. We also shared a couple rolls - Spicy Yellowtail Tuna and a Black Dragon. Both were excellent, but the Black Dragon roll was some of the best we've had. It has shrimp tempura, cucumber, avocado, eel, tobiko, and eel sauce. It was a lot of food but we ate it all. For all that and some drinks our bill was only $56. I will return without question. On our next visit I plan to try the Kobe Beef Bun appetizer because it looks great, and the Red Rainbow which has salmon yellowtail, avocado, and bluefin tuna.

First time so wanted to do the appetizer challenge. Had rock shrimp (nice shrimp and sauce), spring rolls (clean veggie taste), and fried gyoza (very nice). No room for more but boy was this fresh and DELICIOUS! DO NOT be scared by appearances. Fine service and great value for great chow.

We had been here twice before. The last time we found the most amazing sushi we have ever had before. So we drove almost an hour to get here. We're looking forward to the same sushi we had previously but unfortunately the business was sold and not the same menu or sushi chef. It wasn't bad but it just wasn't what we were expecting. Also the new menu did not include tofu.

This used to be our local go-to Asian restaurant but they are under new ownership and the menu has really been scaled back to not much more than sushi. We will be looking for a new local Asian restaurant. I would anticipate this restaurant not being around not much longer.

I had been here several years ago before covid, recently they changed the owner, I really enjoy the sushi here, it’s very authentic, similar to Ando in Blue Ash, the Sashimi are fresh, the rice tasted like Japanese rice, real ingredients made, very fulfilling, sure you can get enough food here, the staff are nice, and the
environment is very clean and neat.

I used to come to this place once a week. Obsessed with the menu and everything was so fresh and good. They did recently get new ownership and lunch special is different and 3x the amount it used to be. The flavor of their teriyaki changed and is gooey like. Definitely not a fan an unfortunately will be eating elsewhere. It's sad because I really liked this place. Everyone is super nice inside and its still very clean. The food just isn't at quality anymore for me.

Menu has changed so much. All the good selections are gone. The sauce for the chicken Katsura was awful. Even the soup was bad.

This is my first time to order takeout at this restaurant, and their sushi is very exquisite, which gives me a very good experience.

Place is amazing! Staff is extremely nice and the place is very clean. I have been here 3 times now and it’s the same every time. Food is really fresh and delicious! Highly recommend this place hidden gem.

Update:
Recent new owners, food is noticeably different and not for the better. The hibachi chicken I ordered was not cooked hibachi style and was very bland. No added flavor or seasonings at all and the sauce on the chicken was like it was just poured from a can. Vegetables were not properly cooked or seasoned either. Soup option was only miso, the previous menu had 3 or 4 choices.

The staff was very friendly but that is the only positive feedback I have with this update.

Huge portions, family owned sushi and Asian food is good at an affordable price. They have hibachi options but it is cooked back in the kitchen, not at the table in front of you. I've eaten here several times and tried different dishes each time, I've never been disappointed!

We're here at least once a week. @least we were. Until they switched the menu & reopened November 2. We were so excited to come back! But. They put all our food on the same plate, didn't give us eating utensils, took forever to get our drinks, menu was VERY disappointing, food was sub-par. We won't be back. Time to find a new spot.

My kids absolutely loved this place, but they recently changed their menu. The kids options are now chicken nuggets and fish sticks.bummer. My kids will never finish a $20 entrée and rarely like food that is reheated. Unfortunately, we won't be back.
