The Eagle reviews
20First off, let me say that the atmosphere of this cute little place was exceptional, as was the service! We ate out front on the patio, which was lovely! Our super sweet server, named Peyton, was excellent! Very friendly, informative and always checking in with us periodically to see if we needed anything. We tried several dishes while dining here. We had the whole chicken (which consisted of 8 pieces: 2 breasts, 2 wings, 2 drumsticks and 2 thighs), spoon bread with maple butter, fries with aioli, and the biscuits with blackberry jam and honey butter. Let’s start with the chicken, it was juicy and tasted good. I wouldn’t say it was extraordinary, I’ve had way better, but it was good. The spicy honey that was served alongside was pretty tasty though! The spoon bread was good. Of all the recipes I’ve seen for spoon bread though, it’s more of a soufflé type texture. This was more typical cornbread texture, but the kicker was that it had celery in it…who does that? Kinda ruined it for me after finding that in my next bite! The maple butter was delicious though! The fries with their seasoning were delicious. Didn’t much care for the aioli…it was much too strong tasting. The winning dish of the whole dinner was the biscuits and the blackberry jam! Those were fabulous! Could’ve done without the honey butter, it was not very good, and neither was their regular butter. Not sure what they were using, but they might want to change that. My hubs had two local craft beers that he liked; the 50 West, and the Sonder You Betcha! Definitely try this place out, especially if you love fried chicken! Very cool place!
Literally the best grilled cheese I've ever had. The whole menu is great. But try the grilled cheese
First time here, chicken was good, had just the right amount of spice. Wish they served side salads and more variety of appetizers. Heard they were voted having some of the best Mac/cheese around, I love m/c but have to say it was good but to me not the best I've ever had, but theirs is up there. Noticed with the review it asks which dishes do I recommend, but some dishes listed they don't serve.
Always such delicious food! Went for my birthday, got fried chicken, Mac and cheese, succotash, spoon bread, sweet potatoes- all recommend!
Some of the best fried chicken I’ve had. Delicious, crispy, and just a little spicy!
The food was great, I recommend you try the collard, Mac and cheese, and the chicken with hot honey
We showed up, a party of 5, last minute with no reservation during lunch time rush. We were lucky to get a table. The staff was so beyond friendly, they recommended food for those who hadn't been there, and stopped by to check on us multiple times. The food itself was also incredible! Highly recommend the chicken sandwich! I will definitely be going there again!
I never had a chance to eat my food. When we entered, the hostess took us to the furthest back-corner right by the restrooms; the front of the restaurant was almost empty, but somehow, we were placed in the remotest/worst corner of the building on a beautiful sunny day.
We didn't stay and walked out. When the sitting-place issue was brought up to the attention of the front staff, they said that it has to do with "rotation. "
Obviously, I have no interest of ever stepping into this place with such disgusting conduct-and-treatment of the customers.
Best chicken blt I've ever had! And the peach jalapeno margarita was made just right! Equally sweet and spicy!
This Mac N Cheese is one of the best things that I’ve ever put in my mouth biscuits and ham was also amazing. Grits weren’t my favorite but I’m sure it’s because I’m picky.
We were at the bar the bartender was very busy they were definitely understaffed when we were there but that happens. The food was amazing would recommend.
It's been a while since I've eaten here and it was excellent as usual. The best chicken sandwich and spoon bread. The biscuits are great also. Clean bathrooms and great service!
Our server made great recommendations including the chicken, spoonbread and macaroni - all hits! Decent beer selection as well.
We ordered the chicken BLT and we were so surprised how quickly our food came. After taking a bite into a sandwich that was cold, soggy and had probably been sitting on a counter for hours we weren’t surprised anymore. Not coming again.
Sat at the bar and our bartender was great! The food was perfect, as well as the drinks. I had the grilled cheese and whoa. The combination of sweet and savory was so good. Definitely try the French fries! I don’t know what magic they’re sprinkled with but they’re definitely the best I’ve ever had. 10/10
Went out to The Eagle last night. The cocktail and sides were very good but I was disappointed with my chicken. I ordered a whole chicken but it seemed to be hot held. It was not freshly cooked, it was warm when served, not crispy at all. It was tender, juicy, and tasted very good but was not what I was expecting.
Had the chicken BLT, was very tasty. My wife had a fried chicken breast, said it was good, but the portion was small for $10. Shared collared greens and mac/cheese was overall impressed.
Abbigail was an amazing server, super attentative and very patient when dealing with the shenanigan of my friends. Would very much request her upon coming here.
Stopped by here on my recent trip to the city per the recommendation of a friend, and I’m so glad we did! My boyfriend and I loved everything about it. The ambiance is great. Our server, Izzy, was very friendly and attentive. She made great recommendations and we loved everything we tried. The mac is to die for! I’m not in the city often, but next time I visit, I’ll definitely come again.
Who doesn’t love fried chicken? My partner is vegetarian and she’s excited to come with me for the kale salad. The Eagle is one of my go-to safe places to take people from out of town. Get the fried chicken, of course, with hot honey. All the sides are great and a good size for sharing. The mac and cheese is award winning. Fries are good. Corn bread is good. Be prepared for a wait if you arrive without a reservation during busy dinner hours.
My dad was visiting for the day so and we decided to go to the Eagle and it was sooo good. Our server, Carlee was super sweet and very attentive and the manager, Blaire came over to check in and was also very welcoming to both of us. The food was amazing and the service was stellar! 10/10 experience
