Do not expect to get your money back even if you are entitled to a refund. They are very lazy with getting your money back to you, but quick to charge you. I would not recommend living here at all.

Living there was eh. There were homeless people in the lobby frequently when I lived there. Most annoying thing was after I moved out, all four of my roommates supposedly were “sent a letter” about owing money for repainting and what not—which is totally fine. The problem is all four of us never received a letter, which means clearly it was never sent. What are the odds we all didn’t receive it. Because we never paid it because we were never informed, they sent us to collections. We find that extremely ridiculous and careless to do something like that to college students trying to build credit. Definitely more professional and efficient ways to handle this situation. Also beware, my friend who lived there last year moved in and the room was infested with fleas and they didn’t give her any money for a hotel she had to stay in or anything and said “she’d be fine living with them”.

Towed my car even though I have been paying for parking the whole year and won’t give me a refund even though I was registered under the system. Also staff members were not aware of where to get a parking pass when I asked and about and said I would be okay if I had my parking pass from last year but was registered under the system. Rooms collect dust easily and some staff members are very rude. I love living there for multiple reasons but can’t stand the noise and the stains everywhere and some of the staff.

I would leave a 0 star review if possible mainly due to the fact that the verge can not control its parking garage capacity/ cars parking there. Multiple times after work I have had to drive around the garage waiting for a spot to open just to have to park in the middle of the rows or a reserved spot. The last time I had to park in a reserved spot and left a note that stated that I could not park due to no spots and that I would move my car the next day, the towing company left a note stating that "next time I would be towed". When I called the Verge to let them know of this and they told me that they had no control over what the towing company decides. I find this confusing when I am paying around $80-90 a month to park here and not being guaranteed a spot when this was a promise with the pass purchase and lease signing. When I asked what to do about this they told me I should park in between the two rows and that I would not be towed. Tonight as I came home from work I drive into the garage to again no spots open and 3 other cars with the same issue from people who pay for spots monthly at the Verge. I figured I would leave this review because that seems to be the only way that they actually address issues around here.

The apartments are dirty. The fire alarms go off every day. Our ceiling was leaking water through our light for four days before it was looked at. They keep half of our security deposit with no explanation. Way overpriced for the quality of living. Overall had a very bad experience.

Community is great, staff are very friendly and responsive and amenities are some of the best for college apartments! Only thing i feel that could be improved on is the hallway carpets and trash rooms needing more bins. Overall though i recommend this to anyone looking to get out of campus.

I was hired as the Maintenance Supervisor and after 2 months fired me on September 13,2016. Gilbain who owns the building wouldn't finish the apartments. Most if not all the work orders have to do with unfinished work. Leaky roof, unpainted walls, door locks that never work, garbage chute that is way to small with an even smaller compactor. I am sure that when they let me go, the residents didn't even know they were down to one maintenance tech, who was forced to quit a week later. Botton line, bad company, bad owners bad contractors. STAY AWAY.

I've been here since the opening of the building. Random false fire alarms at all hours of day and night force everyone to evacuate for no good reason, and no progress seems to have been made on fixing whatever faulty system is causing this. I didn't have hot water for the first few days of my residence, but I can chalk that up to being newly constructed. The garbage disposal breaks constantly when it's not even being used, and maintenance only seems to temporarily fix the issue. The walls are so thin that a single stereo in the courtyard is enough to rattle the walls, and keep me up at night. Vomit and beer cans/stains regularly decorate the hallways. I'm moving out, and I will not miss it.

Location is great and so is staff. Only concern is how leases are operated. It is more structured like on campus housing versus an actual apartment complex.

I have lived here since August of 2018, the apartment itself is fine to live in but all of my interactions with the staff have been terrible. When I have a package to pick up, the staff doesn't smile at me or anything, it seems to be bothersome for them, but that's their job. I also had a lady call me regarding the parking garage this morning and I've never felt so mistreated. A small issue turned into a hostile conversation that was unnecessary from the start. I am paying $1000/month, I deserve a bit of respect as a resident in my opinion. For all of these reasons I will NOT be renewing my lease here, nor would I recommend this to others.

The Verge includes many great qualities! However, since I’ve been living here, I’ve had a leaky ceiling for months, the gym flooded and the yoga room has never been repaired, fire alarms go off very often for no reason. Other than that, this place has a lot to offer to residents. The staff does a great job creating events and giveaways for residents! The Verge is a very safe place to live!

The Verge basically forces you to renew your lease 2 months into your current one by telling you they will lease your unit to other residents if you don't renew by the specified date.
I walked into an apartment that was not even remotely finished. Floorboards missing, pencil marks covering unpainted walls, water damage in the kitchen, appliances that weren't installed correctly, bedroom doors that didn't latch when closed, drywall & spackle residue all over the place. I would later find out that all the wiring in my bathroom wasn't working & instead of fixing it, they told me they weren’t going to do anything because they would have to cut into the drywall. Maintenance people were in & out of our apartment every single day for weeks, coming & going as they pleased.
During the first night, the electricity in only my part of the apartment went out. An hour later I awoke to the most deafening fire alarm I had ever heard. Everyone evacuated & waited for the fire department to show up where we sat outside for an hour & a half before people started saying it was going to be 4am until we could go back inside. My roommate & I had to Uber to a friend’s house to sleep. There was never actually a fire, there was no follow up letting us know what had happened, no compensation for having to find someplace else to stay, not even an apology for the inconvenience.
The next morning, our showers were ice cold. The unnecessarily loud fire alarms continued to go off 3 times a week AT LEAST for the entire semester, at all hours of the day & night. Sometimes it would take several hours to turn them off. There’s never been follow-up emails or texts letting the residents know what happened. No compensation. No apology. I’ve personally experienced permanent hearing damage & issues with my ears due to the frequency of these alarms, that still go off several times a month.
There are frequent “maintenance” walk-thrus. Management sends out an email giving a few days’ notice that they’ll be going through our units. Usually these are wide time ranges & often span several days. When they randomly show up, they barely knock before they barge in. I am 100% uncomfortable with the idea of random people coming into the place I live where all my belongings & important things are kept when I’m not there, or when I’m by myself. A severe example of this is when I came home from spring break after being gone for more than a week to find my front door wide open, likely due to the maintenance walk-through that was done SEVERAL DAYS prior to my return.
One month, I deleted the bank information I normally paid my rent with. Despite my having added new information, they still charged my original account for that month’s rent. This overdrafted my account by $1000+ & even though this was an error on The Verge’s part, they still made me pay the late fee & the NSF fees.
People from a scam electricity company claiming to be partners of Duke Energy managed to get upstairs & were going door to door telling people about their green energy. They got several residents to sign up for their service, & the next 3 months of my electricity bills were QUADRUPLE what they normally were. Despite, once again, this issue falling on The Verge, they did nothing for me.
A couple of weeks ago, a snow storm knocked the power out, causing issues with the CO detectors. Everyone who lived on the right side was asked to evacuate their units while the fire department figured out what was going on. This process took almost 4 hours, & NO FOLLOW UP INFORMATION, NO COMPENSATION, NO APOLOGY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE.
In the middle of the day today, out of the blue, they sent out an email saying that everyone who didn’t have a parking tag hanging from their rearview mirror was getting towed IMMEDIATELY. I had to leave in the middle of class to ensure my car, that I pay $80/month to park there, didn't get towed. Parking hasn’t been enforced since I’ve lived here.

I ran out of space to cover all the nonsense I've dealt with (without compensation) since I've lived here. DO NOT PAY MONEY TO LIVE HERE.

One star is generous. They owe me a refund for $400. They have owed it to me for months, and each time I call, they tell me they will call back (and never do) or that the person I am speaking to is not someone who can handle it. Some how the person in charge is never there to take care of anything. I was warned about them being sketchy with money, but I had no idea they would straight up steal, lie, and keep pushing off paying me what they owe me, as they continue to say they will take care of it.

I have been living here for about 4 months now and I love it. It’s such a positive environment and there is a gym and the lobby is adorable. I feel like I’m at a hotel and the location is also very convenient too. The safety is impeccable which makes me feel so much more comfortable while being at college because I get scared a lot.

My one complaint is that the parking spots are so small and hard to navigate. So many people I know (including me) hit their cars in this garage because it is so crammed (you will especially experience this if you drive an SUV).

Absolutely awful. I signed a lease two months before the move-in date, and just two weeks before move-in, they told me someone renewed their lease and I had to move to a 1 room or 4 room apartment. The only thing I got for all the hassle of signing a new lease for a FOUR room apartment and dealing with a making a new Duke energy account and being kicked out of my own apartment was free parking.

The apartment has many many spots where the paint was damaged and the maintenance did a poor job of fixing the paint. As much as they pocket from college students that are already paying absurd tuition, you would think they could do the job correctly.

There is not a nightstand in the bedroom, there is no medicine cabinet in the bathroom, no closet in the bathroom, my bedroom is very very small and in fact is a tiny bit larger than my bathroom. I have to move the rolling chair to get to my closet and around to the foot of my bed.

When I SIGNED THE LEASE for the 2-room apartment, I would have been on the second floor as opposed to now, in which I am on the very highest floor, floor 6. ADDITIONALLY, the fire alarm has already gone off in my first five days living here.

Great location, clean apartment, free printing, there is gym and staff are pretty friendly. There is free coffee machine and residents will get email regarding to the mails we receive.

My roommates’ room have mold growing on their walls and it took maintenance weeks to deal with it. The smell in our apartment was terrible. Now they’re saying it will take at LEAST 5 days to fix. So they’re moving my roommates out and now two of us have to live with people coming in an out for more than a week. Not to mention no compensation for any of this. I do not recommend living here.

So far I really like living here:) The apartment is beautiful, staff is friendly, and I've especially loved having a washer and dryer in the apartment and getting my own room and bathroom.

I moved into the verge the day they opened. While it seems like a nice place to live, it has been nothing but hell. The apartments were clearly a rush job. Holes in the wall, random paint spots, toilet lines not connected. Anytime I call with question or concern I am hung up on. I had a broken toilet once and they told me I was lying so someone would come to room. If you're locked out, it can take up to 4 hours to get back in your room. They say its because maintenance just won't answer the phone and they refuse to call anyone else. The fire alarms go off all the time with no fire or smoke insight. Even the fire department hates coming. I have had nothing but issues here and I've lived in three different apartments on three different floors and three different layouts. You can find better places for cheaper. I know I did
