The Wembley Club reviews
14Our family of 6 goes to Wembley just about every day and sometimes twice a day! I am an avid tennis player and now pickle player too. I LOVE Open Pickleball - especially Sunday mornings! Everyone is so welcoming and it has become one of my favorite activities of my week that I try hard not to miss! Wembley really has become our second home - the fitness classes are A1 and the family friendly vibe keeps us coming back for more!
We are Lovin' the 2023 version of The Wembley Club!
Yeah, most have heard about the phenomenal new facilities. And the are!
However, check out this Cobb salad Gary whipped up in their kitchen just now! It's Amazing!
Treat yourself to one
The bartender (I think his name is john) is the most charismatic and gentlemen-like bartender I have ever met. He deserves a raise. They do need more drink options on the downside. Overall, amazing place!
Closed Pickleball: The fitness facility is super but if your game is OPEN pickleball and you hope to feel welcomed, and meet lots of other members each time you play, this in definitely NOT your place! The ownership has allowed and possibly even encouraged little cliques to have basically permanent court time within their "open pickleball".
No system to create or encourage rotation, no way for someone who wants to take on the winners to do so. No method to ensure that one group doesn't just dominate a court the whole night while others wait and watch from the sidelines.
The mgt claims they can't have a system because they have too many levels of play and even shot down the idea of dividing the groups by levels of play then creating a rotation with in those levels.
I'm not saying the players are mean, one may never know, since they are not forced to interact with others like open pickle is designed to do. An incredibly unwelcoming closed pickleball experience.
Owner has very poor customer service and is incapable of receiving feedback about his employees. He takes it personally and is unable to focus on the Customer experience. My family was looking to join his club and was given a tour by someone other than the membership mgr who just plain ignored us. This doesn’t make you feel welcome at all. What kind of business treats people like that when we were obviously there as potential clients? Because no one would talk to us about price, I had to contact the owner myself and asked if he could be more competitive in the marketplace. He gave me his sales pitch as to why he could not change the price. He was pretty insulting when he told us to down the road to a club that offered no classes for $10 per month. Who says that to someone? Not sure where that comes from unless he’s bitter about perhaps overspending on renovations? He said he can’t drop his price and that was fine. This did not deter me from being willing to buy 6 memberships. However - separate to the membership price—when I told him about my Customer experience with the office mgr, he got very agitated, sensitive, did but apologize for her, and went on to say how perfect she is and how dare I tell him about how we felt being ignored going into the facility and how she could do no wrong. Whoa! He was very defensive and started getting philosophical. He ultimately told us we were not welcome to join anymore. Any normal business would have simply apologized, said they would talk to their employee for training purposes, then tell the customer they would hope they would join. Not sure where his behavior originates from but we are actually glad he reacted this way because if God forbid we ever had anything occur during our membership that we did not like, he would have reacted the same defensive way. Maybe he is taking his frustrations for whatever on us. Whatever it is, we didn’t deserve the drama and have taken our business elsewhere. Someplace where we can actually have the freedom to speak our mind and explain our Customer experience and have someone actually listen without being defensive! This is America and that’s what Customer service is about! If he wants to grow his business he’s just going to be able to take the customer experience on board. No one likes to be treated poorly!
Wembley is a great family club. When you walk in everyone is friendly and it is easy to feel right at home. The tennis staff is very energetic and they run very up tempo clinics. The pickleball program has taken off and is very vibrant with several open play days with 20-30 players on average. The owner is constantly updating the facility and currently adding a new fitness wing to the club. Overall it is an easy club to be a part of and get involved.
Great place for pickup pickleball! Dave and his team are very helpful and friendly, and the members are a lot of fun and very welcoming of newcomers!
Wembley is a great little club full of family activities. Pool is nice and we love the classes
I wrote a review 5 months ago. Update. Tuesday open play pickleball from 7pm -9pm. Couldn't have been a nicer group of people playing today. Mix of skills from beginners to a couple of the best players in northeast Ohio. Thanks for putting together a great open play.
Greatplace to play pickleball and tennis
And we love the Wembley Club. It’s locally owned, and great for racquet sports year around. The price is also right.
Dave and his team have done everything they possibly can to make Wembley an amazing experience for the whole family.
“Cheers” bar vibe - where everyone knows your name. Warm, inviting, amazing pros, great tennis (pickleball and paddle too), family friendly and lovely staff who often go above and beyond for my kids. Babysitting for young ones Monday through Saturday with no reservation needed is a major perk and life saver.
Wembley is the most welcoming club I have ever been to. Everyone is friendly, and makes you feel as though you have known them your whole life. I was invited to play tennis in the “Blast, ” and although I only knew one person walking in, everyone treated me as though I was a friend. Some of my best memories have come from Wembley. The entire facility is kept in amazing condition, and the staff is continuously upgrading the facility, whether it is structurally, getting new equipment, etc. The club is continuously growing, and improving. Highly recommend!
I was greeted by the lovely Katie who made sure I knew all of the tennis instructors names to help me work on my serve. She proceeded to tell me all of the wonderful highlights of this club and made sure I felt comfortable with any questions I had, and left none of them unanswered. I have to say that the owner, Mr. Barr is running a fantastic establishment!
