Toledo VA Clinic

Went to VA Toledo today, after fasting labs, Dr. Told me she would check my ears after 2 months severe vertigo, sinus infection. 5 weeks antibiotics, steroids.looked in my ears for approximately 1 second period ear. I told her of the pain, restless sleep, and digging in my ears in my sleep. Ridiculois that she couldn't take a minute for me. Ended up in a urgent care on way home. I have a recommendation for fellow veterans. Go any where but here. Primary, month long waits, no labs before the appointment.

I wish I could give no stars.

Dr.stated, “Veterans who come here usually only want two things: meds or a check. ” WOW.

Took off her shoes mid appointment, told us she didn’t plan to be there long (our old Dr.is now gone and my husband wanted to reestablish w/ new Dr.), and it would be hard to find anyone who is. Observed MRIs and said they looked horrible and then when asked how Ratings said he was improving, she backtracked and said MRIs don’t really show anything (what? If they didn’t the why would people do them?). Said she gives care and if we don’t want meds then why would we be there. She said it didn’t sound like his functional capacity test was done correctly. Advised us to use my insurance. Why should a vet have to go elsewhere for care? ! Because of this racket.

VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. Seems to hate her job and obviously thinks generalizations about all vets is ok. Do better Toledo VA.

The main Doctor was great. I felt listened too. However, social worker Christie, not so much. Her whole demeanor changed when I told her of my background. The change in atmosphere was palpable. Not helpful at all

So I am traveling away from my VA hospital that I normally use and my VA glasses break. So, I went to the Toledo VA to see if they could help me. They would not touch my glasses because I “was not in their system”! So I asked them to adjust my older VA glasses that I was using and they had the same response. This clinic is absolutely not user-friendly.

Good place. I do have issues with calling the VA back when I miss their call and getting in contact with the right people but overall good service and my doctor is great and attentive.

This place is so severely bad all around, that I have so many complaints that I will be taking the time to write as many as I can so I can post them here soon.

As a disabled woman veteran since 2003, and someone who once worked at VA hospitals, and someone who’s been coming here since 2008, I cannot wait to update this review when I feel well enough to do so.

If I had any other options, you couldn’t pay me millions to walk inside this clinic. You’re all disgraceful.

Was treated very well by the doctors and staff. I just had to say this after reading some of the other reviews.

August 2022 update. I still have a bunch of problems with the VA system in the area however Dr. Julia Hermanowski, the new director seems like she is on the side of the Veterans and is trying to putting an end to the more nasty and negligent staff. Initially she responded to a complaint and request for care with a written denial but took my feedback looked into it with the nurse manager and fixed the years long problems. Now if she can get mental health to stop being hostile to anyone who isn’t sufficiently woke or beta Toledo VA may be able to build the trust back.
May 2022 They don't follow HHS or VHA guidelines and ignore standards of care to include abandoning treatment and using flagging committees to silence veterans. 2022 update. The VA OIG found that since inspections in 2020 VA patient advocates haven't followed law at the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System that the VA Toledo clinic is a part of and shares advocates.
2021 Update. For a time in 2019 I was receiving good care across the board, my new problems started when I made a complaint to congress about a clinic that the Chief of staff of the system has special relations with resulting in the discontinuation of several treatments, pushed out of care and falsely accused of wrongdoing. Know what can happen if you report them, they can and often will work against you and even your family. They will contact other providers including private practices to intimidate and drop you from care. They will have the VA LE restrict your care and send false official responses under the Directors signature to Congressional, OIG, Joint Commission, regulatory and licensing agencies inquiries. The system leadership often wont even address what the inquiry was regarding and just falsely label the veteran so that oversight will disregard the patient's reports. Toledo and Ann Arbor VAs are broken but still have some great staff and providers.

2018 Started at the VA, just retired from the Marine Corps and I haven't been able to get any referrals in so my continuing care isn't. Have a NP as a primary who refused to provide current prescriptions until referrals are done.

14yrs of Healthcare so far so good with no complaints.the best doctors don't cut and run therefore enough said

I believe that it is beautiful campus. But the staff and even the security guard need those their people skills. The voice response system VRS. Need a lot of work. I got hung up most of the time. I've resulted in just pushing the button for the pharmacy just to get ahold of a person

I believe a mental health worker employed by the VA, should have some overseas and combat experience. I have talked to several over the years none even had military service, they didn't have a clue.

I only go into the Toledo clinic for labs, all my appointments are video. My doctor Dr DeMars is great, she listens and we actually talk about solutions and what I should do. My psychiatrist Dr Osonowo is great to, we discuss what's been happening, how I've dealt with bad circumstances. My scripts are prompt and of course with the postal situation the pharmacy is very good about me getting my scripts on time. The reason for the 4 stars is yes the phone situation is very poor, some of the people who answer the phones are rude and very disrespectful, IF they answer at all.

Good care, appointments kept, pharmacy customer service fast friendly and efficient.

Some staff are rude, but the medical care is adequate and courteous.

Would recommend and is conveniently located in Toledo instead of driving ip to Ann Arbor.

I called to have my doctor here give me a referral to the Henry county Ohio hospital for a COVID test. They said that Henry county isn't in their network so no can do. I live in Napoleon and they won't send the hospital a referral so I can get tested. This place is a joke!

VA has great office here in this area and staff does a great job serving it's Veterans!

They cleaned the hearing aids and it made a big difference to hear everything at a lower volume.

I cannot recommend this facility to anyone. There are several workers at this clinic who are incompetent and/or do not seem to care. Several workers with a "this is just a job to me" attitude. Too bad for the veterans. There are several times I have called this clinic for just general information and received a rude response or "I don't know" tone. Bad customer service and it seems to be throughout the clinic. Unimaginable how some veterans probably feel coming here because they do not have an alternate way to get care. Again, I would not recommend this facility.
