Tupelo Honey Southern Kitchen & Bar reviews
19Okay. First, let's address the title soul food. This place is not soul, food or comfort food. You could say something else, but if you really had soul food down south the grandma's fried chicken or just Sunday meals, this is definitely not the place. The portions are small. I ordered chicken and waffles classic. I got two waffles and two pieces of chicken. Then there was a daybreed roast beef in New Orleans. The day breed is the outer part of the roast that has the most flavor that kind of zaps you. This didn't they just stole the name in the lingo from New Orleans. It was not that the green beans didn't have a soul food taste to him at all but what it did have. It had hints of it. But soul food is supposed to open the door and smack you right in the face. It's supposed to be bold flavors. This did not have it. However, the decor, the atmosphere, even the lightly play music was good. And if you know if you read my reviews in the past, I cannot stand going somewhere where there's loud music and the music doesn't reflect what you're eating. This does somewhat and it's not loud. That's a great thing. Services is good. You'll get good service. You can sit outside or inside and they can open the windows to have light and air from the outside come in as well parking. They have a parking lot a little ways away or you can park across the street. However, this is a no for me. If they had not said soul food I probably would have gave it a one star more. But since they said soul food, it's a it's a mess. I hate to say Columbus Ohio does not have any quality. So true soul food places to eat at all. You cannot gourmet soul, food, soul. Food comes from the soul. You have to feel it. You have to be it. You have to live it in order to cook it. I've heard Bobby flay say it's the most hardest thing to cook soul food because it's all about so feel and taste
We are in from out of town celebrating my friends birthday and wanted to try something different. Our experience was nothing short of amazing. Our sever Tyler was so welcoming and helpful with any questions we had! Not to mention very personable. We got fried green tomatoes and fried pickles as aps. Both very good! The cocktail menu was diverse, something for everyone. Our entree was the Mac n cheese waffle with the fried chicken and it was Amazing! Would recommend this restaurant for sure!
Had been to the original in Asheville NC and glad to have one here. Finally got to go. Server was so sweet - never had to ask for refill on diet cokes. My husband and I shared an order of Biscuits for a Cause. A percentage goes to help employees in need. These are not your flaky biscuits from Popeyes (which I adore). We got 2 huge warm dense biscuits accompanied by sweet butter and berry jam and honey. One is enough for a meal. We shared an order of classic chicken and waffles - which came with 2 portions. They brought 2 plates without us asking. Yummo! I was stuffed. I’ll be back again for the pecan pie.
It was fine but I likely won't be back. Service was slow and food was mostly blah. It tasted like someone who's never had southern food looked at a Taste of Home cover and created a menu.
Visited on a Wednesday afternoon and didn’t need a reservation. We were greeted by the extremely kind host and continued to be treated well throughout our time here. All of our food was beyond delicious, but it was hard choosing between the extensive list of great items on this menu. I will definitely be visiting again and recommend all others try out this spot too! Also highly recommend the meatloaf!
The food was blah, needed more seasoning. Menu choices were pretty much limited to under seasoned chicken.
My husband and I just celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary yesterday. We had been wanting to come to Tupelo for a while. It definitely did not disappoint. We had amazing service from the staff. Tina was our waitress and she was an absolute joy. The food was incredibly good. Thank you for a wonderful evening. You all are amazing.
This is my 2nd visit to a Tupelo Honey Kitchen, the 1st being in Myrtle Beach. Each is just as great as the other. My son said it's the best eggs benedict he ever had & my shrimp & grits were
Our server Deajah was great! The food was excellent and the manager Melina stopped by to make sure our experience was great also. The grits OMG
I loved the staff! The hostess was great, our server gave great recommendations, and the food was delicious! The only negative is that I would like to eat here four or five times a week
The food is great but the staff makes this place top tier. I have been to this location several times and from start to finish this is one of the best customer service experiences I've had.
Pretty good place overall, nice clean look and gorgeous patio!
Loved their spicy cauliflower bites. Sriracha honey chicken and waffles was sooo good, but they DROWNED my chicken in the sauce it almost felt like overkill. I’d order it on the side next visit or specify less maybe.
Despite all the amazing reviews and the hype, we were significantly disappointed by our experience. The service wasn't bad, but we've definitely had better. However, the food was.not good. First of all, everything was cold, not cool, COLD. The fried chicken in all three of our dishes was overcooked and rock hard. The grits were the only saving grace but were cold, too. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. I'd maybe give it another chance for breakfast, but no promises.
Our group of 4 needed a larger table to explore the various food options. We enjoyed ourselves!
Stunningly bad experience. Ordered chicken and waffles and found multiple long strands of hair in them. Stomach turning. Couldnt finish.
Great little date-night spot. The atmosphere is warm & inviting, the servers and bar staff are friendly and the food is delicious. My favorites were the fried green tomatoes and the chicken & waffles.
Food was delicious! Thank you Dasia and Melina for the great service. This was our first visit and we will be back. Our new favorite.
The food was great the service was excellent. And I always check out the bathroom it was topnotch as well. My husband and I went here for our 8th Anniversary and were so enjoyed ourselves and the server Herb was on pointGreat guy, it's always wonderful to have a perfectionist know everything about the menu when it's your first time we will be back. Ty Herb
My friends and I had the best time! The drinks were spot on, the food was delicious and our waiter had a fabulous sense of humor. 10/10 will eat here again.
