This place isn't safe. I was excited to attend the Kickboxing class and when I arrived I was invited to join the class after signing a waiver. When class started I was told I just happened to come on the one day in the month where they were doing free sparring. I was a little hesitant but assumed I would receive some instruction beforehand to ensure my safety. After a pair started sparring, 15 minutes into the class, the instructor leaned over and asked me if I had any experience with Kickboxing. I said no but had some experience with Hapkido. He responded by saying this was completely different and then turned away without explaining more. I ended up sparring 3 times but the instructors just occasionally shouted out some rules I was breaking in the middle of the match which made me doubt myself and just ended with me getting beat up by my experienced partner instead. Between matches I tried asking an experienced student about the what was allowed and not but he didn't really know. In my third match my partner for a good kick on my ribs and I accidentally knocked him in the groin. He wasn't wearing a cup so he went down and had to recover so we stopped the match. I learned later that he cracked my rib. And I was in severe pain and not able to lay on my side for weeks afterwards. Over a month later my rib has now healed with a big lump. They did not take the necessary precautions to make the class safe for me as a new student. They didn't appropriately judge my experience, didn't explain any rules or restrictions for sparring, didn't tell my sparring partners to tone it down for the new student, and 2 students got hurt despite wearing gloves, helmets, shin guards, and mouth guards.
