Winchester Terrace Nursing Center, Mansfield OH

Staff rude as hell. I don’t know if it’s because I’m black or because I’m an agency nurse or both. Yuck

After my mom spent a month in the hospital we needed to find a nursing home for short-term therapy. Choosing a nursing home is a very scary process, we're going into the unknown. I looked online, read reviews and in a short time she's leaving the hospital and we had to make a decision.

Our experience here at Winchester has been great. Everyone from the nurses, the aides, the dietary staff and even the custodians have just been awesome with my mom she has mid-stage Alzheimer's and could not stand for more than 30 seconds at the hospital, they had to use a hoyer to move her from bed to chair. Now working with therapy there she is now able to stand with assistance hold on to a walker pivot and sit down in a chair or on the toilet. Her legs are very swollen and this is a struggle we will continue to deal with at home. Everyone has been caring and I could not ask for a better place for her to be right now. I watch and listen as to how the other residents are treated you never know if your parent or loved one is being treated well at that time because you're there but I hear and see respect for all the patients from the staff.

Some of the STNA's are amazing, but the other ones and the nurses will let your loved one suffer and lay to die alone. They shouldn't be allowed to take care of rocks much less people.
