Yoder's Amish Home reviews
14We loved this place. You were able to tour 2 houses, the barn, school and have a buggy ride. Plus you could buy fresh baked items from the kitchen. The tour was given by the Amish which was a great experience. Very reasonably priced.
The tour guides were all pleasant and informative. It was very enjoyable and reasonably priced!
Very cool. Got to tour 2 amish homes and see a school house. Even got to go on a buggy ride! Don't forget homemade goodies! You won't taste anything like it anywhere else.
Great place to visit! Very informative, and they give you the option of buying home baked goods that are made right there. I would definitely recommend anyone stopping by and visiting.
Beautiful landscape and getaway from City life. You get four tours: two Amish homes, Barn, Buggy ride and school tour. $15 for all four tours. Overall you complete them in 1.5-2 hrs. There are picnic tables. We went there as a small group and it was quite fun. Great place for kids to enjoy.
Good tour price Great insight into Amish home Nice buggy ride.
Read their website to know who runs and what is here in full.
Best parts are seeing a previously Amish lived house, house bakery and Amish cook lady, Amish barn keeper, Amish one room school set up and Amish ridden buggy. Informative tour by the guide. The school is a replica created within the grounds and NOT an actual school but the Amish lady was a teacher and retired now.
Wonderful self sufficient spring and summer gardens with vegetables.
Not great to see animals in a very small cage in the barn. Only the goats had large space to roam around.
Gift shops sell the usuals at the touristic place covering magnets to locally made food.
Parking and play area available.
If this helps you
The tour of the two homes was interesting and the guide was informative.
The chickens in the barn where in tiny wire cages that they had to walk on. A baby donkey was removed from its mother's pen so tourists could take their picture with it and pet it.
A dog was left in a hot car in the parking lot- no shade, windows down a very little bit. When I told the lady selling tickets that I was concerned about the dog she said she was not getting involved, it was not her car, not her dog.
I do not recommend this place and I feel badly for the animals there.
8/3/2023: we thoroughly enjoyed our time at Yoder’s Amish Home. Kate, our house guide, was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. She toured us through both homes explaining customs/beliefs/ traditions of the Amish and Mennonite communities. We ended the house tours in the kitchen of the second house where fresh baked bread and desserts were available for purchase. All of it looked delicious.
We also toured the barn, where a variety of animals lived.
We took a buggy ride with Ray, our driver and Sadie, our horse. Ray let me take the reins for a bit!
And then we went to the schoolhouse. Our guide here was a friendly former teacher in the Amish community. We had a wonderful conversation with her about a variety of topics. She showed us some of the books used in their lessons. She taught 1st, 2nd, 7th and 8th grades.
Overall, we had a very enjoyable afternoon at the homes/farm. We were there about 2.5 hours.
The tours were amazing. We definitely learned a lot about Amish lifestyle and choices. Our buggy ride guide was simply amazing, funny, interesting, and genuine. We could have spoken with him for hours. The food from the bakery is just absolutely mouth-watering good. Their staff from the gift shop to the stables were just great.
Excellent experience with visiting This Amish Farm. We had a Guided Tour to the Barn, 2 Houses, and the One Room Schoolhouse. The guide was very informative. The gift shop is your initial point and then you decide if you want the Guided Tour and or The Carriage Buggy Ride. We did it ALL! The buggy ride lasted about 10 minutes and very kind driver. Great Experience and would do this again.
We had a wonderful time at the farm. The tour helped us to understand more about the Amish and Mennonite history and lifestyle. The buggy ride was fun. My 9 year old grandson loves the animals.
Learned lots about Amish culture and had an excellent time in their petting-zoo barn full of baby animals. Awesome little gift shop and bakery. Make sure to plan at least 2 hours and do the all inclusive tour which includes a carriage ride and a 3 minute tour of an Amish schoolroom.
Beautiful place with excellent baked goods. Had a horse and buggy ride that was fantastic.
Loved the home and schoolhouse tours. Very informative. Opportunity to buy goods baked on site at the end of the home tour. Buggy ride was neat, and our driver was very friendly. Can’t wait to bring our kids here!
NOTE: It doesn’t open until May. We were kinda bummed to miss this when we visited in April.
