ALF'S Homemade Ice Cream & Burgers, McMinnville OR

Great old school burger joint, they make their own ice cream and chili. Tater tots are awesome, as well as their deep-fried pickles. Prices are good too. We got 2 1/4lb burgers with cheese and lettuce/tomatoes, a larger order of tots, and an order of deep fried pickles for around $20, which was more food than we could eat.

Back in the day it was my kids favorite ice cream place, well 20 years later it shows its age, restaurant needs a serious upgrade, even if it's a good clean and fresh coat of paint, removing the monkeys cages.

Hamburgers were good but definitely not a fresh homemade patty. Tots were crispy and not greasy. Ice cream was delicious. Weather was perfect for enjoying the outdoor seating.

I am visiting from out of town and decided to try this place. I was a bit hesitant because the place was a bit on the messy side, however, I was pleasantly surprised. The food was great and the decor was very retro, which I liked. Overall I would recommend this place. I could see this place being great for families.

I used to go to Alf’s in the early 1980s when I attended high school in Oregon. I am from California, but some of my best memories of school outings revolve around Alf’s. Glad they are still around! Delicious ice cream from 40 years ago.

Neat ol' hole in the wall diner type joint. Good food! Great ice cream. Just a little jewel we will hit many times over!

Stopped here on my way back north tonight abs am glad I did. The fries were crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Nice and salty too. The western bacon burger was AWESOME! (I got mine without the relish, fwiw). Burger was juicy, well portioned, and tasty. I will happily stop here next time I roll through town. Thanks ALF’S!

Yum! I was craving a milkshake. Bacon cheese burger, fried pickles, and shake were all awesome!

Last night I plaorder online for about $70 and had a lot of pacifics. When my husband went there to pick up my order
(my husband has drive forty five minutes back home)
My order was completely wrong. I paid for extras wasn't on the hamburgers. I paid extras for my drinks wasn't fulfilled. And I basically told them I want no egg in my burgers. Because I'm allergic, but to my surprise. After 2 bites, there was egg. This is when about hour and a half before it close
So I was forced to call in the morning management to me There was nothing that they could do to help me

Food is okay but the shakes are really good! Everyone else we saw only got ice creams. Unfortunately I went into the rest room after we ate to wash my hands and about lost my lunch. It smells like rodent urine and is not even close to clean. The entire restaurant was pretty filthy but the lady at the counter was nice. They no longer have monkeys there but haven't changed their advertising and apparently people get irritated about expecting to see them and then can't. After looking at how small the monkey "cage" was though, I think the monkeys are better for not being in it. It's an okay stop if you're driving through but maybe check for their food service cleanliness score before just in case.

Lunch was great, the service was okay. Nothing amazing. Honestly, she looked annoyed that people were there. Overall, a decent place.

Service wasn’t bad but it wasn’t good, it took almost 45 minutes to get two burgers, small fry and a shake. There was only one group ahead of us and yet multiple people got their orders before us. And when they finally called us they just left it on the counter with no ticket to indicate what order it was. The only redeeming quality was the shake was really good.

Place was packed, nice people but it does take awhile to get your lunch out. 20mins but they were trying hard.

The quality of the food is not the issue here. When I came in it was completely dead and it still took 25 minutes to get a burger, shake, and fries with three people working there. The shake (which probably should’ve been the fastest to make) was the last thing to come out and was accompanied by “oh I didn’t know you were still here” as it was pulled out of a holding freezer. That same employee who was working the front looked lost and high, which is fine on your own time, but at least try to be present at work.

Super good burgers, really fun atmosphere, and beautiful outdoor seating! Absolutely gorgeous garden outside! Visited from Texas and we loved it!
