We were looking for a Dentist that could provide compassionate and gentle care for our adult daughter. We decided to go with Angellift Dental and we were very pleased with Dr. Hales and his staff. I honestly don’t think we have ever been to a Dentist that was so understanding and willing to work with our daughter’s needs. Thank you to everyone who did such an amazing job and made us feel so comfortable. We will definitely recommend you to our family and friends.

The male dentist running this place is a real piece of work. He will make comments on your weight or features and is angered easily. I have nothing bad to say about the quality of his work but you can go to a polite dentist and still get that. The only redeeming quality of this place is how nice the rest of the staff are who work tirelessly to manage his rude behavior with customers.

Amazing staff and Dentist Jim is wonderful. Saved me thousands of dollars. I would recommend him to anyone. This is like Dentist were years ago honest and very clear when they explain procedure to you.

If you have dental anxiety, AVOID AT ALL COSTS! The dentist has zero consideration for you, how you feel, your level of pain or discomfort, and to top it all off he is rude! Absolutely no excuse for his kind of treatment!

I found Dr. Hales & staff through my insurance. Newer to the area & hadn't seen a dentist for 2 years, I was a bit nervous, expecting at least 1 cavity (I love sweets)! I went in for a cleaning, exam, x-rays & wanted some advice on headaches I've been dealing with for the last several years due to grinding teeth & clenching my jaw in my sleep. Claudia at the front was fantastic, from making the appointment to calling back with questions she was patient & friendly. Tammy did my x-rays & within minutes I felt like I'd known her for years, we laughed like she was a girlfriend I grew up with! Dr. Hales was extremely thorough, gentle, asked questions & explained everything. I learned more about my teeth & bite in that hour & 1/2 visit than in my other 40+ years of seeing other dentists! He reviewed the x-ray images with me & yay, no cavities! He even did my cleaning himself! Now the best part. He asked a few questions about my headaches & past experiences with orthodontia & explained how my bite was no longer quite lining up (I stopped wearing my retainers 20 years ago, sorry Dad)! I fully expected him to say "get a night guard" & send me on my way. I don't recall all the official terms, but he instead explained & offered a procedure that took 20 minutes, let me watch the whole thing with a mirror & in non-dental lingo, "filed" a few teeth ever so slightly to where my bite is the BEST it's been in over 20 years! Everything lines up now & it just feels right. It's been a full 2 weeks since my visit & I haven't woken up with a headache ONE TIME! This was something I experienced at least every 2-3 days prior to seeing him. He also filed down a bottom tooth that was higher than the rest due to crowding which has made me extremely self-conscious for years & I couldn't stop smiling in the rear view on my way home! As if that's not enough, Dr & Tammy called a couple days later to follow up & check on me, WHO DOES THAT!? ! I am so very pleased with this practice & highly recommended Dr. Hales & staff at Angellift Dental to anyone. I will look forward to going again for my next visit in 6 months, thank you Dr. Hales & staff!

I first saw Dr. Hales a couple years ago to get an oral appliance for sleep apnea, and I couldn't be happier. It's helped me more than CPAP did, and is much easier to tolerate. Dr. Hales is very kind and always takes the time to explain things. I also like the atmosphere of the office, which is very welcoming and makes you feel more like a guest than a patient. There was even a friendly dog hanging out. Highly recommend Dr. Hales, especially for anyone looking for an alternative to CPAP.

I’m one of those “avoid the dentist until your dying breath” kind of people, but following some pretty serious tooth pain I made an appointment with Dr. Hales. First of all; the atmosphere created by his staff is top tier. They were incredibly kind, and seemed genuinely interested in what I had to say.

Dr. Hales performed an enamelplasty to my teeth, which rectified some pretty serious jaw pain and “back of the neck headaches” immediately. After this procedure I found many benefits throughout my day that day, for problems I didn’t even know I needed solved. I was able to chew easier, I have less tension in my jaw now that my teeth don’t catch on each other, and my overall mouth health has increased now that food can’t hide as easily.

In between procedures he made a point to ask me about my life, and not only that; emailed me a list of colleges he knew that could assist me on the new career path I’m interested in? !? ! I could never say enough about this dental office and the staff that make it so great.

I went in to have a cavity addressed. Dr. Hales did a great job. But the biggest impact for me was when he told me about an oral appliance that can replace my CPAP machine. I’m a truck driver and the CPAP machine is a huge inconvenience. Put that on top of the fact that I’ve never gotten good results/rest with the CPAP. I’ve been stopping at rest areas to take naps for the last few years to make sure I’m getting rested and driving safe. Especially on those days I’m starting at 2 or 3am. But the job came second to trying to get enough rest. That was always the primary focus. You can’t give your best to a job when you’re focused on other things. And not rested. This oral appliance has changed the game for me. It’s the best sleep I’ve had in 5 years or more. I have get less sleep and still feel more rested than I did before. I’m not needing to stop and take naps on the road. I’m more motivated to get weekend warrior projects done, I’ve got more energy to play with my kids when I get home, I have more patience and don’t get frustrated as easily. Needless to say, my quality of sleep has changed many aspects of my life. I knew I was always tired, I knew it was a problem. But I didn’t know how much better having quality sleep would make me feel. I’d forgotten what it was like. If you have sleep apnea, if you’re a trucker and want to get away from a CPAP machine, or if you just always feel tired, I’d highly recommend talking with Dr. Hales about the option of this sleep appliance.

This is the only dental office I have ever seen with a candy/coffee shop in it and it just feels out of place. Went here to address a composite filling that had fallen out from a different dental office. Despite my hesitation and concern over amalgam fillings, the dentist proceeded to use this to fill the cavity. It caused my gums to bleed when flossing and I was generally unsatisfied with the impatient way he proceeded with the appointment.
Years later, I had this filling replaced and found out that the amalgam was put in so poorly, it created a sharp edge which irritated my gums and led to a buildup and further decay around the area.
I would NOT recommend this dentist to anyone. He should retire.

The place did not help my dental anxiety. Dentist was literally yelling at my wife while working in my mouth. Unprofessional.

Worse than that, he yelled at her for something she hadn't even done.

She'd in fact done the opposite, so crossed wires to say the least but even if not, no bellowing and no yelling when in a patient's mouth working on their teeth. Not looking for raised in a barn dentist!

I like Dr. Hales, he's a nice guy and a good dentist. Been there about 3 or 4 times over the last few years. Luckily haven't needed him lately.

First off let me start by saying I have a severe phobia of going to the dentist. Growing up in kansas I got A LOT of criticism because of brown staining on the front of my teeth. 34 years of life and not one dentist could help me without a lengthy drawn out procedure of questions, ridicule, feeling like I was being judged, just to end up at the same conclusion. I would live my life with the stains. To some it may seem like a minor thing, but to me it was huge. People would make their own conclusions and I could feel each person glancing at these stains. I stopped going to the dentist because of this. No one should feel scared or worried when they are seeking help. Reading the reviews scared me because half were good and half were bad. I went into the office expecting the worst. BOY WAS I WRONG. The first question Dr. Hales asked me was what would it be worth to me to live without these stains? ! WHAT? !? ! IT WOULD MEAN EVERYTHING. 5 minutes later I looked in a mirror and seen my smile for the first time without brown stains. I cried. The staff is so caring and loving. Tissues were being handed out and I could just feel the love from these wonderful people. Not just the dentist but the entire staff. (Including the amazing little puppy dog in the office)

Reading the reviews only made me realize that not everyone can have a great experience, and I'm deeply sorry for that. However if you take it from me, this will be the most amazing change you could make by going here. I will forever be grateful to them for changing my life when no one else would take the time.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

I had an emergency extraction done by Dr. Hales and his staff. Let me start by saying I fear going to the dentist, and this has likely compounded the issues with my dental well being. I think you get what you give when it comes to any interaction - the entire staff treated me with respect, and listened to my concerns (I have CRPS). Dr. Hales was a consumate professional even while dealing with a difficult extraction, and my hesitation to have anyone poking around in my mouth.
I've been to a few dentists in grants pass, and this will be the only one I return to.

Attitudes were unprofessional and rude to each other and me. Only got worse when they asked me what i do to make a living for myself. Really rough treatment. Kept having tools "heavily dropped" rudely on my chest like i wasnt being a big enough worktable and my hair pulled and my face and lips got wrenched around with the absolute opposite of consideration for my comfort. I had the impression this man is used to working on cadavers and i was inconveniencing him by being alive. Bruising and cheek and tongue cuts because of lack of filing down and polishing. Really hurried and accident prone. I am pregnant and requested a cover for the xray and was told i didnt need one. Left this place in tears and feeling taken advantage of.

Be wary of this place. Their level of service and attitude depends on the quality of your insurance. If you have Oregon Healrh, go elsewhere! Staff and doctor have a thinly disguised prejudice. They are so nice and so deliberately negligent, if you're not the "right kind of people. "
