It's a tough climb all up hill but the view is worth it, and there are a lot of pretty flowers along the path.

Great views and a surprising amount of space at the top to find a quiet place to rest and relax.

Awesome viewpoint overlooking the Columbia River gorge. Multiple ways to hike up to it. I started from Multnomah falls and hiked up the devils rest then down to angels rest from there. Devils rest was nothing special, there were no viewpoints. Angels rest however was spectacular I chose to sit and take in the beauty while I ate lunch and took pictures for the socials

A great climb to incredible views, and I was actually able to park on a day when everywhere else in the area was impossibly crowded.

Great hike! A little tough but worth it for the view. Went on 1/2 and it was a little muddy but manageable

Classic Portland hike. 2.4 miles up and 2.4 back. Now passes through some burned areas which enhance the views in some areas near the top. The tread is good in most places and a bit muddy in a few. Avoid during regular weekend hours though. Too many hikers already. Save it for a weekday or hit it up early in the morning.

Not an easy hike but doable for most if you take plenty of time.and water. This is not a walk in the park, watch your kids and pets.

Wind at the top was literally hard enough to blow my 60lb dog over Grab your kids as soon as you get to the top, lots of drop offs! This hike is absolutely lovely! Only downside for me was; that it’s pretty popular so if you’re looking for something more quiet this won’t be it.

Beautiful view of the West Columbia River Gorge on a short but vertical up/down hike. The combination of recently burned forest and surviving greenery provides a unique but somber reminder of both the fragility and resilience of nature. The wildflowers will fill in this spring where the trees once provided shade, and the hills will soon be vibrant again; different, but vibrant.

Beautiful look out and a tough hike. It was a great workout and I’ll probably go again for the amazing view.

Angel’s Rest Lookout is one of many fantastic dog-friendly hikes along the way on the Historic Colombia River Highway.

You definitely want to wear the right footwear since there are areas of rocky paths that are slick since they are damp and those areas are a bit muddy too.

Although the rocks definitely present a big challenge with the hike, there is also a decent elevation gain.

But there are great views as you climb the upper switchback trail and the summit offers stunning panoramic 270-degree views of the Columbia River Gorge.

Great hike for you and your furry-family!

Great hike. We did this hike with a 4 and 6 year old. They did very well. Only had to carry the 4 year old a few times. It was a stunning clear day and the views were breath taking. We build rock houses for the chipmunk we saw, had some snacks, and hiked back town. It took about 4 hours at our slow pace. Highly recommend hike.

The view is spectacular! However, this hike is not for the faint of heart. It is a rocky unleveled incline the entire way up not a steep incline though. Do not wear flip flops! Wear good gripping ankle supporting shoes. Bring lots of water! It totals only about 4.8 miles there and back. It's the constant incline that makes it a tough one though! Bring your dog! I don't recommend small kiddos only because there's a bit of climbing towards the top and the paths can be a bit treacherous.

Must see lookout, go there to clear your mind. For those who think the journey matters most, this is a destination that's even more!

One of the most amazing views with just a short hike. Pease be careful at the top. There are no guardrails or protection from the edge. It is a moderate hike, extremely busy on the weekend. If you can do it on a weekday traffic will be significantly less and you may get a parking spot. One of, if not THE, most popular hike in the Columbia River Gorge. Easy enough hike for families, just be prepared to watch your children at the top.

The hike all in all is good and taken care of for the most part. The very top is well worth the time and effort for such a breathtaking view of the whole gorge!

Great hike to view the Columbia River Gorge.
I would rate this as a moderately difficult hike as it is just under 5 miles total with an elevation gain of under 1500 ft, so do pack your best hiking shoes! There are some shaded parts on the hike but there is also a lot of open spots, so I recommend bringing a hat and lots of water, especially in the Summer. This is dog friendly also! The view is gorgeous, one side has the lush green forest and the other side serves as a haunting reminder of the Eagle Creek fire from 2017. I highly recommend this hike!

Awesome little hike up the Columbia Gorge. At a fast pace it's an easy up and down in less than 2 hours. Take your time though, tons of mountain flowers everywhere, and some fantastic views at the top. The trail does connect to other trails if you want to hit up Devil's Rest or you can even trek all the way over to Multnomah Falls through the breathtakingly beautiful forests. Highly recommend. Get there early to avoid parking issues as the lot only accommodates 15 or so vehicles.
