I'm backpacking the Oregon coast trail, it was really rainy so stopped by to sit somewhere covered to eat my breakfast, staff lady showed up and accused us of sleeping in the bathrooms (we did not!) then locked all the bathroom doors so we could not use the bathroom, (nobody else could eather?)
honestly kinda crazy how rude she was, I work for parks too and would never treat anyone like that even if they were camped in the bathroom, which we did not do. Honestly beautiful park, very rude staff

This is a must do campground.the views out over the Pacific are breathtaking, with sunsets to match. On a clear evening you might even get to see the fabled green flash.
This place is perpetually booked up - especially in the fall with crabbing and salmon fishing. Charleston harbor is 5 minutes away and you can crab right off the docks.
There is plenty of shopping in Coos Bay.even a Walmart Super Center.
The campground offers dated but clean bathrooms with showers. Plenty of space for the kiddos to play or walk the dog.
Nearby Bastendorf Beach is spectacular and you can walk there in 20 minutes although the walk back will be strenuous.
Also nearby. Sunset Beach State Park.golfing, sight seeing (Seal watch at Simpson Reef), Shore Acres Gardens. Lots to do and see.
Stay here once and you'll come back every year.

It was a very good environment, I go there every year. And if your sick of the hotness during summer, go to basendorff. It's cold and you can go to the beach literally everyday your there for. The view near the park area is spectacular!

Electric and water RV sites with picnictable and greenery/trees between every site for privacy. Sites are, kind of small but adequate. Perfect location to walk right over to a beautiful beach! Right around the corner from Cape Arago, Sunset cove and Charleston Marina for crabbing or seafood restaurants.

We go here every years for the last 4 generations! I am not in my 30s and still go here. I love the place and the sunset views are amazing. Beach is close and sunset and state gardens are as well.
They updated the playground. But the bathroom really need to but cleaned and update/fix to make this place perfect.

Lovely campground - spots pretty close together but have some trees and stuff in between which is nice! About a 5 minute walk to the beach, but good to note that the campground sits up on a hill so the walk to the beach is a pretty steep walk down, and in turn, a steep walk back up. The showers are only open from 8am-8pm which is fine unless you have somewhere to be in the morning and are planning on getting ready earlier than 8. Playground for kids. All in all nice spot!

Beautiful campground. Well maintained, clean bathrooms. Showers need a little TLC but definitely functional. Friendly and helpful hosts. Maybe a half mile walk to the beach and it is stunning. Tide pools all the way to the left, very cool. Will definitely stay here again!

The tent camp sites are fine. Some have decent privacy while others feel pretty exposed. We were in 21 and we sort of shared our parking area with site 20 but there were no issues and our space was relatively private. The bathrooms are a huge issue. They didn't refill the soap often so it ran out. There are no locks on the stalls and the showers only have frosted glass doors and very little hot water. You're quite exposed and while many won't care, if you like privacy while you shower this is not the place for you. We will probably stay elsewhere. Its location near the beach is great.

Beautiful fun and relaxing. Gorgeous views, ocean right nearby, and very dog friendly. Only downside was Campsite #1 has HUGE bright lights nearby that don't turn off, so it didn't get as dark as we had hoped. But we felt very safe!

It was a great place to watch the sunset. The playground has been upgraded so that was nice.

Most camp hosts were nice except for the one lady with the white dog. She was rude to most, unless you were the few she liked. The lady with the short hair was so amazing and went above and beyond to make you feel comfortable there. The rude camphost lives in the bottom loop camping area, so I suggest camping in the top area away from her. I think the c and d loops.

The bottom bathrooms were horrible and need to be upgraded. We stayed in the top section, which the bathrooms had their own toilet, sink, and shower. They were also coded. So those bathrooms were more up to date and much nicer.

We stayed for a week. The fog horns are super annoying and is why I wouldn’t stay here again. They go off every 30 seconds and it seems like they get much louder at night time.

For years my family and I have been camping at this campground and have always loved it there. Over the last few years it has tremendously gone down hill. The bathroom/shower facilities are awful unless your on the very top level where group camping is and you get a private code to get to use those but only if your group camping and those facilities are in way better shape, you get lousy restrooms/showers down below and for the same price. Only one shower works in the womens and theres a stall in the restroom thats nailed shut besides the fact that there not clean ever. I think that this park/campground makes alot of money as it is always packed and you have to reserve a site months in advance they need some upgrades desperately to keep up with the many campers. Also the kids playground has changed as well, they used to have a boat, playfort and swings, merry-go-round etc. They have removed all those things for safety reasons I'm sure but replaced it with a play structure not suitable for all aged kids and tire pieces are what you stand in, which allows kids to have a throwing war of all the pieces. Its terrible, my granddaughters were victims in an all boys war as they were hit trying to dodge the tire pieces. Really need to rethink their playground and equipment so that all aged kids can enjoy it. Bastendorff is my familys favorite place to camp, the view is amazing and so are the campsites and cabins. We will continue to come here but really strongly will be hoping they get the upgrades they so desperately need.

Fun place to spend a week or weekend with family, only drawback was showers are closed at 8pm to 8am & gets cold/lukewarm quick. Shore Acres has all day access and water always got a it gas heated, access to hygienic practices should never be restricted, available 24/7 to patrons. Bathrooms were well maintained and paper always filled.

The campgrounds were clean and well kept. Pricing was cheap.
Cabin only had a tiny little space heater. Similar to what you would out under a desk.
Bathrooms were always clean. The two showers closest to us were closed. So, we had to drive half a mile to get to the ones that were open. Water was cold.
Nice view of the ocean, but didn't see a path to the beach. Plenty of covered areas with picnic tables and a cute little park.

Great county park. The only thing I can see that need improvement is in the shower area. They were cold. I will say having snow and subfreezing weather didn't help. Snow on the beach was great.
