Black Bear Diner Grants Pass

Thank you so much to the family that paid for our breakfast this morning really ment a lot too us. We as well paid it forward.

It took 50 minutes and me going up front to let the waitress know out food was sitting there. Then another 10-15 minutes to have it boxed up to go. My last visit, the food was horrible. This time the food was good but bad service.

On this visit it was massive chaos. Lots of running around by the staff. Our orders were wrong. This was an anomaly. Have stopped several times before and it was great.

The first time I went to Black Bear Dinner 12 years ago, it was pretty good. Lately however it has gone down hill. Just average. Nothing special.

Great breakfast with good friends. No fuss no muss. Large meal. Had a great waiter big enough I tipped him for his gym membership. Lol

Usually a great dinner but I ordered a steak medium rare and it was barely cooked. I informed waiter and he took the steak and they threw it back on the grill, while all my other food is getting cold. Just making the steak tough and chewy by doing that and all my other food was cold. Terrible.

Staff was very nice but we had to wait an hour for our food. When the food came out it looked rushed somehow and my potatoes were inedible. I felt bad for the servers who were trying their best.

Black Bear is having staffing issues, just as all service industries are. The staff they have is great, but they have had to limit capacity which results in long waits for seating. The food is as always. I loved it when I first discovered them a decade ago, but am less fond of the now. Serving size is enormous, prices are reasonable but food is just a bit better than average.

Thank you Rodney for your wonderful customer service. Delicious. Tri-tip dip and blackberry stuffed bear claw French toast cleaned their plates and downed their shakes while I had the tuna chef salad and water with lemon. Great atmosphere and great people. Could use new seats though.

The food was great the people were so professional. Not a fast food restaurant, but I've been at the drive-thru before and waited longer than I did here!

Breakfast was excellent! Pancakes are.wow! Extensive menu, excellent service! Highly recommend. Sorry, no pictures of pancakes and eggs.too good to wait!

Me & my girlfriend we’re greeted very rudely by the lady with a braided ponytail for no reason our server was nice but the food wasn’t that great

Arrived at 9: 28am on Sunday. We left at 11: 15am. 2 hours for a party of 6 adults to get breakfast. Food was absolutely delicious. Biscuits are very yummy. Pancakes are sweet, soft & fluffy. Always a great meal. Bathrooms could be cleaner, brighter & neater.

Biscuits and gravy
Sausage
Hashbrowns
Toast
Coffee

I take a lot of road trips around the west coast and frequent Black Bear Dinners. Most common spot has always been in Redding Cali. I've always enjoyed Black bear dinners, but this time was different. As soon as we walked in, we were welcomed with very warm greetings. Not just your run of the mill hellos. And our waiter was very good. Just the right amount of attention and very helpful. But what really got me was how polite and gentlemanly he was. Here in the middle of the pandemic, people grumpy and stressed out, and he was all smiles and manners. With my poor memory, I think his name was Rodney and he deserves some recognition. I hope to run into him again my next time thru town.

Great Chicken pot pie and custom Veggie Swedish Cheese sandwich. Staff was very friendly and helped us with a bunch of recommendations for customized vegetarian options.

Chicken avocado club was delicious.
Wait staff was harried but remained friendly and helpful.
Side salad was iceberg lettuce with carrots shredded over it and a couple of tomatoes and cucumber slices. Meh.
My partner said the sweet potato fries were really good though.

We had breakfast at the BBD in Medford today. The service was fast and excellent. Food was abundant, more than we could eat. Cost for this breakfast was $40. A side of hash browns were $4.99 and were unedible. I hoped since I couldnt even stab them with a fork I would get a refund but did not.

It was ok. Hard to mess up eggs and bacon. They were quick to seat me, my food arrived quick and then I was forgotten. Sat there on edge of both with card in my hand and they just walked past. I finally ask about a to go box. They were not busy either. I probably won't go back.

Waitress was nice, all our orders were correct, the hollandaise sauce is, and so is the brisket. Also, they have their own hot sauces, which I would totally have purchased, Mama bear sauce is perfect! We did wait a long time, but it was worth the wait. They are short staffed and are asking everyone who comes in if they know anyone who needs a job.
