This has to be one of the weirdest music stores I’ve ever been to in my entire life. They were super weird about you trying out the instruments. It was a wonderful selection that I was interested in looking at. Unfortunately, I left quickly because it was so awkward. Just goto one of the pawn shops in town, way friendlier.

More like the "House of Dead Silence". Enthusiasm for music left this place years ago. Or was it ever there? Who knows.
Im not sure if i'll shop there again. 1 and done. I should have read the reviews first.

The selection is great though.

Unfortunately, it cant make up for the poor customer service. Its "not a play place" as I was not so kindly told. Im not sure what you do with instruments, other than play with them.

The pawn shops in town dont have the same selection, but they were warm and welcoming. Or try Art and Music in Redmond, awsome people, great atmosphere. Totally good vibes.

Just go anywhere else.

Lived in Bend my whole life. This still is the worst music store in existence. I’ve had so many bad experiences. That was my fault for coming back. I definitely stopped going a couple years ago. I remember when I was 17, I was ready to pick out my first guitar that I spent all year saving for. I went in with a friend and immediately she told us not to touch anything. I told her that I won’t touch anything without permission. I have a hard time making decisions, so I walked around the store for a bit. She actually would walk around and follow me like I was stealing. I finally found a guitar that I was looking for and asked if I could play it. She said no right away. I asked her why and she said that she has to see the money first. (I had $750 cash on me). I told her I would be careful and she could watch me because I really wanted that guitar. She told me to leave if I didn’t show her proof that I had the money. I felt like that wasn’t necessary, but showed her anyway. She wanted to count it! I told her that I was just going to leave. I ended up going to another music store off of Revere.
Every time I’ve been in there since, she watches you like your stealing. She makes you think like you know nothing. I picked up some guitar strings and walked around the store one time and she yelled across the room “you better pay for those strings”. This place has been a long running joke with friend and locals. The owners wife should hire someone with great customer service to take her place. Then she could sit in a room and watch all the security cameras if she thinks people are stealing. This place has so much potential. No one can believe they are still in business. She also keeps some weird looking cats behind the counter. I think they have asthma.

UPDATE TO BRYAN’S WIFE (Donna) RESPONSE TO MY REVIEW:
That is a poor response to my review, Bryan/Donna. Take some ownership. Your store has prime location and supply. Please take everyone’s reviews as constructive criticism. You hold the most inventory in Central Oregon. Both of you could be rolling in money and be so successful. Just be humble. All of us locals would love to see your store succeed. We love supporting local businesses. Work with the community and local musicians. Don’t assume everyone is out to get you. Invest in some speakers. Play some music while customers are shopping. Play YOUR favorite music. Make it welcoming. Engage in music talk. I had one occasion where you were actually pleasant. Once you execute these steps, you don’t have to be trapped at the counter. You can have more free time to spend with your family and talk to customers. You have to create that relationship. If we all see you turn this store around, we will delete our reviews. Music has always been a staple for Bend. Especially with these big shows coming through now. Don’t you want to be the supplier for these famous bands coming through our beautiful city? When they need supplies last minute, they could be solely coming through you? You have THE prime location being next to the Amphitheater. Hire a enthusiastic salesman that will make people come back. I wish the best. I’m trying not to lose all hope for my local music store growing up.

Mean Lady Music, I was shocked to see her still in there. Not shocked they didn't have what I needed. Sort of glad when I saw who was working.

If you look punk/goth or remotely alternative in any way they will assume your stealing and be extremely rude to you.

Grumpy, unfriendly, and rude owners. Wouldn’t recommend this place. Every visit has felt like they were annoyed that I was even in the store.

On my last visit, I tried to return something that was still in the packaging and in perfect condition. They were very annoyed by the idea of me returning it, and eventually said they could just do store credit.

You know, I hit most of the stores when I visit from Austin, and I always wind up buying at Bryan's! They have the stuff I actually like!
And the lady some people complain about? After checking out some guitars like ibanez, fender, g & l, etc. She says look at this unusual guitar.has me sit on a stool, hands guitar to me, and literally with first strum I was an owner! A Godin ultra that sounds incredible as a miced acoustic, and sounds great thru amp as acoustic or electric. Already written 2 tunes on it I'll be recording when I get home.
Thanks, lady!

I've bought several guitars and gear at Bryan's over many years. Always friendly and knowledgeable. I have taken friends there who made purchases and enjoyed shopping there. Lots of stock! I also compare prices and they are always right in line with others including internet shops.

They don't rush you or try to sell you something. They take the time and listen to you to find a good fit. I read some reviews and find them hard to believe. I am not quick to decide and have spent hours in the store. I have never seen folks treated bad, but as I get more chronologically gifted I have to say some people go out of their way to be a problem. Frankly if had a jerk I might encourage them to shop elsewhere.

Walk in for your musical needs. I bet if you smile, you'll receive one in return. You will find a lot to look at)

I would give zero stars if I could. First off I walk in and head straight to guitar string bc they are right up front. It’s been years since I had to but strings so it was a little overwhelming at first. The old lady come over and asks if I even know what I’m looking for very rudely and I said yes but asked if they sold single strings which she said no. So I took another 3-5 minutes kneeling looking at the fender strings and she is hovering over me like I’m gonna to steal and that about made me want to leave but I brushed it off. I then went up to pay and she again rudely asked me if I even know how to string a guitar and play. And I’ve been playing guitar for 9 years. She was just very rude and obviously doesn’t have any manners. I would rather drive to Eugene if I had to get strings if it means never having to go back to this store.

ATTENTION: PLEASE TAKE YOUR BUSINESS TO JUST JOE’S MUSIC OR SUNDAY GUITARS
I have no clue how these owners are so oblivious to the real world. It is disgusting how they treat most of their customers, how they create such a negative, hostile environment within their store. I walked the store and was immediately treated as a threat. I have no clue how these people are still in business after receiving so much negative feedback and still making no effort to change. What makes these people believe they can treat their customers like this. Do they not see a problem with the way they act? These owners have absolutely no manners and are extremely rude. I’m definitely expecting nothing less than a snarky response that says something along the lines like “Well if I could review you as a customer, YOU’D GET ZERO STARS. ” These owners need to stop playing the victim, acting as if they’re getting attacked; they need to make some serious changes in the way they treat others if they want any more business in the future. All the customers are asking for is some basic human decency and respect.

Bryan's house of music has everything that I need. Plus knowledgeable staff that is willing to help. Without a doubt the best in Bend

Absolutely horrible experience. Wasn't even in the store for more then 1 minute and politely asked where the strings for guitars were located and was rudely directed to a general area of where they were. 1 package was opened so I slid it out of the rack and began to close it and replace it back on the rack, where I was rudely told "don't open that". I have never been greeted by more rudeness in my life. Needless to say I went to Sunday Guitar and purchased a new string, amp, and guitar. I will never go to Bryan's again and direct everyone I know over to Sunday as they treated us great and were very nice to work with.

Do yourself a favor.
Read the responses Bryan's leaves on their poor reviews. This is exactly the kind of attitude you can expect when you go into that store. Snarky, hostile, and unwilling to accept that they have a long history of mistreatment.

Best music shop ever. House brand drum sticks a must have. Good selection of strings and so many little fun thing to make noice with all over the store. Rocking deals on guitars and drum heads.

Terrible customer service. Do not buy from the store. No returns even if the item is broken right out of the packaging. Staff has a temper. Don't waist your time here.

I visited Bryan's House of Music on a Sunday. I felt super lucky because many shops like this aren't open on a Sunday! I was passing through Bend, OR and only intended to see what they had. THEY HAVE SO MUCH! Small parts, big parts, full instruments, amps, choice treasures, and lots of knowledge. I read the reviews before going in but I'm not sure what the issue is with the service, it was top notch. Being respectful, happy, and open minded when you visit places like this is key, as all the store's knowledge you want to use was earned through years of experience. I ended up buying some cables, some XLR ends I needed to repair my own stuff, and a new Fender Rumble 410 V3 bass amp that was 25% off! You cannot go wrong here! This is a little gem that must be visited!

Bryan has been incredibly helpful every time I've come in with questions about the drum kit I bought from him. Very knowledgeable and attentive, definitely recommend. Thanks again Bryan

The lady was judgmental and was not a very good host. How does a person know if they like an instrument if said instrument can’t be played? If that’s how you treat customers I would suggest them elsewhere. I sold my instruments at the same shop I spent 1300 at yesterday.
